Chapter 62

Lucas used a healing spell on himself as he growled at the sight of the enemies and he dashed forward, his mind now even sharper due to the attack as he ran towards the enemies with full speed. Falkor roared overhead as he glanced at his wyvern who was flying through the air and dodging the spells from the mages.

'I should kill the lot of them quickly before they become a problem. The strange magical attack, it would be problematic for me if I had to fight these bastards with another sniping me. If my focus isn't correct then I will die.' Lucas thought to himself as he ran to his enemies.

He increased his speed as he ran towards the enemies as the soldiers shot their arrows and the mages attacked him as well. Three soldiers wielding swords charged at the heir which confused the latter.

'Where these three here before?' Lucas thought to himself in confusion as he looked at the charging enemies.

He was pretty sure that he had taken care of all the melee soldiers and now three soldiers are charging towards him which is a surprise.

'Did they get reinforcements? Did the enemies split up halfway and are doing a pincer attack?' Lucas thought to himself as he dashed towards them while dodging the arrows and magic.

The runes granted him more power as he used his magic to strengthen himself as he quickly and skillfully sliced off the arms and necks of the three soldiers as his sword cleaved through armor and flesh as he ran towards his enemies.

He then twisted his body and jumped in the air and spun as the arrows and spells passed around him as he managed to dodge them as he felt the heat from a fireball and two arrows managed to hit his armor at its edge and bounce off as he landed and lunged towards the enemies.

The archers and mages were just as relentless as ever as he was forced to dodge to the left as spikes rose from the earth as he sent fireballs in their direction as they attacked and destroyed it.

He immediately conjured a chunk of earth and sent it flying towards them as he ran around. The chunk meanwhile did its job as it got the attention of the soldiers as they attacked it, which was more than enough time for him to close the distance.

The archer right in front of him could only turn his head as his eyes widened as Lucas channelled his magic and then with great speed and strength his sword went through steel, flesh and bone.

The blade sliced through steel, met flesh and cleaved through bone as he advanced with precision and sliced the heads and sometimes arms of the archers and mages as they didn't get the time to properly react to his attacks, as their reaction speed wasn't able to track him as he reached the other side and let out a breath of air.

The next moment the heads of the archers and mages fell on the ground and blood gushed out of the necks of the soldiers as their lifeless bodies fell on the ground like puppets which had lost their strings.

He then looked towards his allies and his eyes widened as he saw more soldiers fighting with the two girls as he glared and charged at the new soldiers.

That was until the sound of the crackling of lightning in the sky was heard by him as his eyes looked upwards in response as he saw clouds forming there as his eyes widened as he felt magic in the sky as shadows were cast upon them.

He immediately focuses on Kriemhild who is blocking the attacks of the enemy soldiers and he can see that the sword is a great help for her as well, but it is clear to see that she is getting overwhelmed from the number of enemies that she has to face.

He dashed towards her and used the momentary distraction of the enemies caused by the formation of the clouds in the sky and the lightning, he decapitated the closest soldiers and grabbed her hand as she was surprised.

He then dashed with her as he moved away from the group of soldiers as the lightning in the sky grew in intensity as be got ready to defend the two of them from it.

"Falkor! Protect yourself!" Lucas shouted as his wyvern heard him.

Falkor roared out as he had already sensed the change in the clouds as he dove downwards and away from the battlefield, as he knew that the soldiers would be able to hurt him if he were near them.

Aslaug also felt the shift in the air and the use of magic as her eyes narrowed as she jumped back and got ready to defend herself against the attack from the sky that she is certain to fall on the battlefield.

'Even if it is an attack from the sky, my sword will be able to take it.' Aslaug thought to herself as she looked at her blade for a second.

Kriemhild felt goosebumps as she heard lightning crackling over her as she held her blade right and looked at Lucas as she gulped down some spit as she looked at the soldiers who disregarded the sky and were charging towards them.

But the sky then lit up for a second before lightning rained down on the battlefield. Lucas created a portal above them and Aslaug got ready with her blade. Falkor himself was flying low as he saw the lightning falling where his master is currently fighting which confused the wyvern.

Lucas looked at the lightning and then his eyes widened in surprise when the soldiers were the ones who were hit by it. They screamed in pain when powerful lightning started to course through their bodies.

"It's the court mage." Lucas said as he smiled at the much needed support.

Lucas, Kriemhild and Aslaug were safe from the lightning as it targeted the soldiers and the places around them as it broke the ground and electrocuted them before the lightning stopped as quickly as it had appeared.

The clouds that hid the light of the sun dispersed as the three warriors were able to see the state of their enemies and the battlefield.

Only charred and black remains of their enemies and the broken ground was the sight that greeted the eyes of Lucas and his allies. Falkor also appeared soon after as he roared and breathed fire into the sky when he saw the fate of his master's enemies.

But Lucas raised his hand and created a portal in front of him and also behind Falkor, and not a moment too soon a beam of the same golden light shot inside of the portals as he grit his teeth and made sure to concentrate and keep the portals open.

Kriemhild looked at him in shock at the attack as Falkor let out a cry in surprise. Aslaug meanwhile was ready for the attack as her blade lit up with the runes glowing as she used her sword to block the attacks, causing it to be sliced in half as she grit her teeth and dug her feet into the ground as she was slowly pushed back.

But the attacks ended as the four got the time for respite, until they heard the shouts of men as their eyes widened as they looked at the direction of the border and saw even more soldiers coming towards them.

'They're coming in waves!' Lucas thought in shock as he clicked his tongue.

Falkor had to dodge a big fireball as it grazed his tail as he cried out from the heat of the flames as Lucas felt a bit alarmed at the sight.

'Tch, they're like roaches.' Aslaug thought to herself as she glared at the soldiers who were coming towards them.

But then the noise of horses got the attention of the humans, demigoddess and wyvern as they looked behind them and saw the soldiers of the kingdom rushing towards them on horseback as Kriemhild smiled at the sight.

"They're here!" Kriemhild said in shock and happiness.

"Finally. About time." Lucas said to himself as he also smiled in response at the sight of the soldiers.

At the helm of the soldiers is Olivia who is leading the charge with her master Andvaranaut beside her as they have their weapons as they rushed to give aid to their allies.

"Onwards! Crush them all!" Andvaranaut shouted as the soldiers roared in response as they raised their weapons as Lucas smiled.
