Chapter 9

As Olivia was reading the letter her eyes were starting to be filled with fury and rage as she read more and more as her face started to grow red from anger. Despite the elaborate language used by the prince she understood that he only wants to marry her due to her position and body. She also did not like the fact that he claimed that she needed him to live.

She was a proud woman who was capable of taking care of her own needs and found it very insulting. But what angered her most was how he was saying his kingdom was greater than hers. As the princess of said kingdom and as someone who takes pride in it she was very furious at him.

Her parents had seen the rage in her eyes despite her having the same serious face she maintained. They knew that whatever the prince had said in the letter has resulted in their daughter becoming very angry.

"What does it say dear?" Signe asked her.

"I believe you should read it for yourself." Olivia said as she gave the letter to her mother.

Signe took the letter and read through it and her expression also gained one of anger. Then she gave the letter to her husband who went through it and his face morphed into one of rage in response to it as he seemed like he would tear apart the letter.

"How do you wish to respond daughter?" Arvid asked his daughter with calm rage.

"He has asked for me to send an answer to him. So I will send him an answer as he wants." Olivia said as she went to her desk and started to write her letter.

After she wrote the letter she wrapped it in an envelope and then gave it to her father who asked the servant to send it to the prince of the Swedish kingdom. The servant complied and made arrangements for the letter to reach the prince.

In a day the letter was brought to the palace of the Swedish kingdom as it was handed to the prince. Eric Andersen, the current prince of the Swedish kingdom smiled when he received the letter. He is a 19 year old boy with blonde hair and green eyes and fair skin. He was dressed in princely attire as he took the letter and went to his room to read it, confident that the princess of the kingdom has no doubt accepted his offer. He reached his room and opened the envelope and took out the letter.

The princess's letter read as follows:

[Eric Andersen, Prince of the Kingdom of Sweden. I am writing this letter in response to yours speaking about the marriage. Though I am charmed by how you have described it I find it hard to believe that a man whom I've never met claims to be a good man.

I have heard neither tails nor stories about your greatness so it is quite hard for me to picture you as a strong man. And while you may have the status of a prince I hardly believe that gives you the right to ask for my hand in marriage.

The Ascheberg family are proud warriors who have been ruling our kingdom for 400 years and so are filled with many great warriors and kings and queens.

We have a lot of resources which he have been trading with you country for years and was the reason which has allowed your country to grow as big as it is.

But if you really are that eager to get married to me, then please ask your parents to send you to my kingdom wrapped in kingly robes and a sword. I swear on my title as princess that if you do then I will make sure that you will have a wonderful life of fulfillment and will see no problems with your life.

You will be taken care of luxuriously by our people and treated with the highest respect that we can give you. You will not have to toil for anything and just have to sit in the castle and I shall make sure that you will have a fulfilling life.

You will neither have to train nor study as I will make sure to protect and rule the kingdom in your stead and will shoulder all the responsibilities so you won't have to.

And you don't have to worry about me, I am well versed in the art of combat and am pretty capable of taking care of myself and my future husband so please rest assured that I will treat you like the greatest gem.

Our Great kingdom will show you all its grace and glory which will make you wish that you were born in this kingdom. I promise that you will be delighted to come here and will enjoy the great many wonders of my kingdom.

I hope you will agree and come to my kingdom as my husband Prince of Sweden.]

As Eric went through the letter his face started to become distorted with anger as he read the letter. His face was getting more red as he read the letter sent by the princess.

Just like the princess the prince was someone who took great pride in his status and his kingdom. So he was really angry at the princess for telling him that her kingdom was greater than his. He also couldn't stomach the fact that it was a woman who had the gal to talk to him like that.

In their culture women weren't warriors, they were the ones who stayed in the house and places of residence as they dealt with the matters of the house and were subservient to their husband. In fact, in their culture women should be subservient to men as the latter see themselves as superior to the former.

This of course resulted in the prince getting more angry as he thought of a woman saying to him that she will protect him and take care of him while he stays inside the house like a female! This caused him to become even angrier at the princess.

He then ripped the letter to shreds as he left his room and made his way to the throne room. The servants moved out of his way as they saw the enraged face of the prince. The prince made it into the throne room as all eyes were on him as he made his way to stand in front of his father Eske Andersen.

"Father, tell our generals to ready their troops!" Eric shouted at his father.

This caused the people in the room to become surprised and a bit nervous as the king looked at his son.

"And why would I need to do that?" Eske asked even though he knew the reason for it.

"Because father, we are going to war!" Eric shouted for all to hear.
