"Your wife killed Scott Carden!" Caroline informed in an audible tone.

Mrs Sheila opened her mouth to deny, but before she could utter a single word, the entrance door of the living room flung open and in came a striking young man.

He was clad in a long sleeve crimson t-shirt, black trousers, and a crimson sneakers worn on his legs. His hands was tucked in his pockets as he made his way into the living room majestically.

"Who is dead?" Scott questioned in a cool tone, his gaze fixed on Mrs Sheila who had a shocked expression on her face.

Catching sight of the man that had just walked in, both the jaws of Mrs Sheila and Louis dropped to the floor, and their eyes widened. Scott walked towards them majestically and stood beside Mr Fernando.

"You made it, son. I'm glad." Mr Fernando placed his hand on Scott's shoulder and said.

"Yeah, can't be late for something important like this one." Scott remarked in a respectful tone before shifting his gaze back to the rest of the family who kept

"Police," the driver muttered, his gaze fixated on the cop cars parked on the bridge a few meters away from where they were."Police?" A puzzled expression appeared on Mohammed’s face as he leaned forward to get a better view of the police cars. "There aren’t supposed to be any officers in this area. Hell, there isn’t supposed to be anyone at all out here," he muttered, his expression twisted in confusion.Mohammed had already done extensive research before coming here. This particular bridge had been abandoned by the Iralians after the government issued a warning about its instability. The bridge was rumored to be on the verge of collapsing, and if too many vehicles drove through it—or if too many people walked on it—it would give way. Ever since then, the bridge had been deserted. Everyone in the city avoided it to prevent becoming a casualty. It hadn’t been used in years. Mohammed knew this, which was exactly why he chose this area and this bridge as his escape route. But now, for

"What about the bodies?" Kelly inquired. "What do we do with these bodies?"Scott halted his steps and lowered his gaze, staring at the lifeless forms sprawled across the floor."Marcus, Kevin, Adriano, and Luca… they were good men," Scott said, his voice low and gravelly, his eyes locked onto the bloodied corpses. "They were their families’ breadwinners, and now they’re gone… because of me."He stood there in grim silence for several moments, the weight of guilt pressing heavily on his shoulders, before speaking again. "I’ll have their bodies sent back to their families. I’ll also give them a blank check. Whatever amount they wish to demand from me for their sons’ deaths… they’ll write it there. I’ll wire the funds directly to their accounts," he bellowed, his voice firm with conviction.Kelly gave a quiet nod in agreement."Let’s go," Scott said, and together they turned and walked out of the ward, making their way downstairs. Outside, the hospital compound was swarming with cop car

  • A promise written in blood

The man barged into the ward, breathless, his chest heaving as he shifted his gaze toward Mohammed."We’ve got a problem, boss," he said, panting heavily. "Scott and his men are on their way here. We have to leave now."Mohammed’s eyes widened slightly at the words. "What do you mean? Are you sure?""Yes, boss. I caught a nurse making a phone call. She was definitely calling Scott—informing him about us," the man bellowed."I see," Mohammed muttered, then turned his gaze back to Aunt Kelly. His eyes narrowed."Remember our agreement, Kelly. Remember the deal. Deliver Scott to us and don’t breathe a word of it to anyone. If I find out you told someone—or tried to set us up—your son will die. No matter where he is, no matter what country he’s in, I will find him. And I will kill him. Even if I die, my men will hunt him down. So think twice before betraying me." Mohammed's voice was deep, menacing, thick with warning. Then, without another word, he turned to his men."Come on, boys," he

  • Gunpoint bargain

"What do you mean some men are there and they want to kill Kelly and her son?" Kael questioned after hearing Camille’s words."I don't know exactly what's happening, but ever since they went upstairs, I've been hearing gunshots. I think they killed all the guards stationed in front of Edward's room, and now they're in to attack them," Camille articulated."That's bad. How many of them are there?" Kael inquired."I don't know. Not up to seven," Camille informed in a hushed tone."Alright. Thanks for the information. I'll let the boss know immediately," Kael bellowed."Alright. Please com—"BAM!Before she could finish her words, the entrance door flew open, and in came a man. Tall and muscular, clad in a long native attire, and his face thick with beards. When he spotted Camille making a call, his expression darkened, and he raised his pistol."You stupid bitch!" he spat. "Who were you calling?! The cops?!"The phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor, and her heart raced. She rai

  • No mercy for the sick

Mohammed lowered his gun slowly, his gaze shifting toward Aunt Kelly and her son, Edward, who were currently hiding behind the hospital bed."Aunt Kelly..." Mohammed said, his tone deep and menacing. "It's so good to finally see you."A shocked expression appeared on Kelly's face after hearing those words, and she managed to summon the courage to speak up.“H-H-How do you know my name?” she stuttered."Oh, I know a lot of things," Mohammed responded casually. "I know that's your son, Edward, and I know about his condition. He’s been suffering from one disease after another, and he only just started to recover. I've been keeping an eye on you. They say the best way to defeat your enemy is to study them first. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing."Kelly swallowed hard after hearing those words, and cold sweat trickled down her face."Who are you? And what do you want?" she questioned, her voice trembling with fear and her heart pounding in her chest. Edward, who sat on the tiled flo

  • No way out

The woman’s eyes widened in terror the moment she caught sight of the gun in the man’s hand. Her heart pounded violently within her chest, each thump echoing like a war drum in her ears.“Tell me where the room is,” Mohammed said, his voice calm yet filled with threat, “and I will spare your life... and the lives of every worker here. Refuse, and there will be a massacre. Every single one of you will die. So start talking.”Cold sweat trickled down her temples as his words sank in. Her throat bobbed as she swallowed hard, fear twisting her stomach into knots.“T-The elevator... over there,” she stammered, her voice shaky and drenched in terror. “Use it to get to the top floor. You’ll find Edward and his mother in the last room.”“Are they alone?” Mohammed pressed. “Or do they have company?”“There are guards up there with them,” she confessed quickly. “They arrived just moments ago.”“Guards, eh?” he murmured. “Are they armed?”She nodded frantically.“How many?”“I... I counted just
