“What?” the junior executive asked.

“What are you gonna do, huh? Beat me?” He poked his finger on Abel’s chest and began to hit him in the chest.

Suddenly, he grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer. He leaned his mouth to his ear and whispered.

“You are a nobody. People like you don’t get even the slightest opportunity to enter a place like this. Now, if you know what’s good for you, leave before I make a scapegoat of you.”

“No!” Abel sounded confident.

“What?” the junior executive blurted.

Threatening Abel, he expected him to get scared and scram out of the building. Ten days ago, a bookkeeper had walked into the building. He’d claimed to want to partner with Northwest Energy by sending the best technical books to read to up their game.

Personally, he had grabbed him by his shirt and threatened him away. Before he blinked, the bookkeeper had made a run for it.

But this man, this wrecked man who called himself Abel Kane, just said no to him.

Worse, he said it confidently.

The junior executive smirked, concealing his shock.

He squinted his eyes at him.

“Maria,” he called.

“Yes, sir,” the receptionist answered.

“Call 911 immediately. Alert them that we have a thief in the building.” He smirked at Abel.

“Yes, sir.” Maria bowed.

“And oh, make sure to find something we will lie he stole.”

“Yes, sir.”

“If we send him to jail him for a few years falsely, he will know his place and never dare speak back to a person like me ever again.”

“Yes, sir.”

The receptionist lowered her hand to the telephone. She pulled the receiver and directed it towards her ear.

She lowered her second hand and pressed the police department number.

“What’s happening here?”

A familiar voice interrupted before the call connected.

Immediately, she turned to the elevator, and her heart sank.

“Good day, sir.” She bowed respectfully.

The man she saw was Mr. Adriano Kelvin, CEO of Northwest Energy himself. Behind him were the General Manager, the General Secretary, and the Chief Operating Officer.

The junior manager’s legs shook immediately.

He was only the manager for lower-rank staff. He reported directly to the Senior Manager, who reported to the General Manager. He didn’t have the privilege to meet with the CEO directly. He had never even seen him before, just his pictures on the wall.

Now, the CEO was standing right in front of him.

He bowed lower respectfully.

“I was hearing voices from the moment I stepped out of the elevator. What is happening here?” Adriano asked, facing the junior manager.

“Please do not be bothered about it, sir. I already handled it.” He bowed again.

Adriano gazed sternly at him.

The junior manager knew what that meant.

The CEO wanted an explanation, not a respectful dismissal of his question.

Quickly, he cleared his throat.

“This man here claimed to have been contacted by the board to come today. We already called the police to remove him from the building since he doesn’t want to leave on his own.” He explained and bowed once more. A smirk appeared on his face expecting Adriano to support him.

“Step aside,” Adriano instructed.

“Sir?” the junior manager exclaimed in shock.

Adriano said nothing.

“Okay, sir. Okay.” The junior manager continued bowing and stepped aside, revealing Abel’s face.

The moment Adriano saw Abel clearly, his heart dropped.

He recognised the face.

How could he not?

Thirty-five years ago, he had built this company from scratch. He believed in making the world a better place using technology. He built so many conventional batteries to power robots, cyborgs, electric cars, and the likes. It worked, but there was a problem.

The batteries didn’t last longer than eight hours.

Customers were beginning to complain. They were giving the company bad reviews, and he was losing money.

He needed a saviour.

But then, fifteen years later, a man out of nowhere presented a battery that was different from his own conventional batteries.

He declined the man and didn’t give him a chance because the battery was coming from a man who was not from a known family name.

However, one month ago, having lost several customers and partnerships at home and abroad, he decided to check out the battery the stranger had submitted ten years ago.

Shocked, the battery powered his technologies for a week after just one charge.

His heart dropped.

This was the breakthrough he had been waiting for.

He commercialised the battery immediately and knew he could not lose the brain behind the battery. He checked out Abel’s profile. He studied his background and his face and knew it like the back of his hand.

Quickly, before another company got to him, he made him the chairman and had the board send him a mail with a reward of 150 billion dollars, almost all of the money the company had made from the commercialisation.

Now, the man he had been desperately searching for was standing right in front of him. And this stupid junior executive almost sent him away?

Adriano bowed immediately.

“Welcome home, sir. I and the board have been waiting for you,” he said with respect.

“What?” the junior executive blurted immediately.

The security man’s eyes widened in shock.

The receptionist’s heart dropped.

Did the CEO just bow to this wrecked man and call him sir?
