For a moment, everyone stared at Valmor in shock, unable to help but wonder—could this really be true?

Valmor didn’t even look thirty years old. At such an age, could he really serve as the commander of the Highcrest Dragon Unit? It was simply unheard of!

If this were true, it meant that Valmor’s future was boundless. He would have a very high chance of being promoted to colonel, or even, brigadier general…

Unfortunately, everyone present who was speculating about his identity was arrogantly wrong. And they didn’t realize that, in front of Valmor—the Five-Star Commander, the king of Carnage, the Supreme War King—not even a brigadier general, let alone a full general, could stand firm; all they could do was tremble, kneel, worship, and obey every command.

“Colonel…”

Linzell’s face froze in astonishment when he heard the rank. He realized that he had underestimated Valmor.

The commander of the Highcrest Dragon Unit, a colonel, a regiment-level officer—this was already enough to pose a threat to the Barbar Family, demanding their serious attention.

However, in Linzell Barbar’s view, the fortunate thing was that the Highcrest Dragon Unit’s commander was only a military position and could not easily interfere in local affairs, especially since the unit belonged to the Northern Army. In relation to the Barbar Family far away in Smaora City, they could do little more than watch from afar.

At present, Valmor posed no substantial threat to the Barbar Family.

Having considered this, Linzell gradually calmed himself. He then addressed Valmor.

“Valmor, what brings you here tonight?”

Now, realizing that Valmor was very likely a colonel, Linzell understood that he could no longer kill him in front of everyone. If such an act were exposed, it would have a tremendous impact on the Barbar Family.

The Barbar Family was not prepared to deal with such consequences; even a slight misstep could bring catastrophic disaster.

This also forced Linzell to take Valmor seriously, no longer seeing him as an ordinary person who could be crushed at will.

Nearby, Lord Arkanis saw that Linzell still treated Valmor with such disrespect. Furious, he was about to act, but a gesture from Valmor immediately commanded him to step back.

Valmor looked at Linzell and Kelsey with a cold, indifferent smile. “I had originally planned to wipe you all out tonight, to avenge the Kross Family from top to bottom…”

At this, Valmor pulled out a cigarette. He lit it, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled, radiating an astonishing aura.

The curling smoke resembled a ritual offering to the dead, yet also acted like a curse against the Barbar Family.

Throughout, no one dared to interrupt him.

Valmor continued. “But now I’ve changed my mind. How can I let you die so easily, and still comfort the souls of those who were brutally murdered from the Kross Family?”

“Valmor, don’t get too arrogant! So, what if you’re the commander of the Highcrest Dragon Unit? Do you think you can come to our territory and kill people?” Kelsey ground her teeth, looking at Valmor with disdain.

“That’s right! Valmor, your family’s company being taken over is just normal business competition! How can you blame us for these things? As you know, the dead cannot return; what’s past is past. If you stop now, we are willing, out of humanitarian concern, to give you a sum of consolation money—enough to last you a lifetime!”

“And if you still insist on making trouble, know that the Barbar Family is not to be trifled with! Even in the military, we have powerful connections!”

Linzell Barbar threatened Valmor as well.

“Already so eager to disassociate yourselves? Consolation money? Guilty conscience?” Valmor watched coldly and smiled grimly.

Linzell and Kelsey were shocked into silence, their eyes flickering, unable to respond.

Valmor continued. “Kelsey, you infiltrated the Kross Family under the guise of my fiancée, stealing corporate secrets from the Alpha Group, step by step causing the company to collapse and be taken over.”

“Your contact was your cousin Vienna Stone, at the South Bank Café. After receiving the information, Vienna Stone delivered it directly to Barbar Dake, general manager of the Barbar Group. Am I correct?”

Kelsey’s face turned pale, utterly incredulous. She thought her actions had been perfectly hidden—how could Valmor possibly know?

“Linzell Barbar, after the Kross family was completely wipe out, you and your brother Barbar found a scapegoat for a reward of one million, making him confess and go to prison! Am I right again?”

Valmor’s cold gaze shifted to Linzell Barbar.

Hearing this, Linzell shivered, a chilling horror crawling through him. He could never have imagined that all the dirty deeds they had done in secret were known to Valmor.

Anger and shame erupted in Linzell, and he roared. “Valmor, so you know everything, and what of it? What can you do to us?”

“That’s exactly what I want—you to be furious to the point of madness, mad with fear, fear turning to despair, and in that despair, suffer more than death itself!”

Seeing Linzell’s mixture of anger and fear, Valmor smiled with amusement. He then took a watch from his pocket, glanced at it, and continued.

“To the Barbar and Stone families: anyone who participated in persecuting the Kross Family—your countdown begins now! One month—I will let you live for one month. During this month, you will pay for your crimes until your wretched lives end.”

The words shocked everyone beyond measure.

Could someone really dare to declare war on the Barbar Family?

People couldn’t help but sense that Smaora was truly on the brink of upheaval…

What Valmor said next left everyone dumbfounded, drawing sharp, astonished gasps. “During this month, you are welcome to resist. The fiercer your resistance, the happier I will be! No matter what connections or forces you mobilize, I will take them all head-on!”

The entire hall fell silent, frozen in fear.

The Barbar Family’s power was immense, yet Valmor actually dared to give them a whole month to counterattack?

To many, Valmor was nothing more than a colonel. Could he really withstand a counterattack from the Barbar Family, whose power was at its peak and who firmly held the top position in both the legal and underworld circles of Smaora City, gathering all their forces?

After speaking, Valmor slid his hands into his pockets and strode out the door with imposing ease.

Passing in front of Lord Arkanis, he said casually. “Take care of yourself!”

“Farewell, Captain!”

Lord Arkanis quickly straightened, his face pale with shock as he shouted.

Long after Valmor had left, the hotel lobby remained silent. His aura pressed down on everyone present like a mountain, leaving them gasping for breath.

Linzell and Kelsey finally came back to their senses, realizing that their bodies were soaked in cold sweat without even noticing when it had started.

With Valmor’s strength, he could have publicly killed them just moments ago. Yet, this second young master of the Kross Family did not do so. Instead, he left a life countdown: within a month, all those who had persecuted the Kross Family would endure relentless torment and suffering, unable to live, unable to die, until life itself ended.

Understanding Valmor’s intent, Kelsey panicked, clutching Linzell’s arm tightly and pleading. “Second Young Master, you must protect me and the Stone family!”

Linzell ignored her. His eyes, filled with resentment, fixed on the direction Valmor had left, and he ground his teeth, saying coldly and ominously.

“Do you think I’ll sit idly by? Do you think I’m afraid of a mere colonel? I’ll make sure you, Valmor, understand that Smaora City belongs to me!”

Amid Linzell’s fury, the guests began preparing to leave discreetly. No one wanted to invite death for no reason.

“What’s the matter? All of you leaving already?” Linzell called out, displeased.

Those who had intended to leave immediately stopped in their tracks.

When the Second Young Master spoke, no one dared disobey. After all, the skies over Smaora City still belonged to the Barbar Family.

Seeing that no one dared to move, Linzell smugly continued.

“Do you really think that one little Valmor can oppose our Barbar Family? Even if he holds the rank of colonel, he’s not even worthy to lace our shoes!”

Most remained silent, though some supporters of the Barbar Family voiced agreement.

No one doubted Linzell’s words; they all thought challenging the Barbar Family was like a drop of water challenging the ocean —it was suicidal.

After all, a strong dragon cannot suppress the local snake. In this territory, the Barbar Family was simply unshakable.

Linzell had originally wanted to give a rousing speech, but a faint unease in his heart drained his interest.

Impatiently, he waved his hand and said. “Those who are leaving, leave. But everything that happens here tonight must remain secret! If anyone dares to leak a single word, don’t blame me for turning against you!”

“Also, I can promise you this: within a week, Valmor’s head will be on the chopping block!”
