Valmor couldn’t help but recall ten years ago, when he had just been exceptionally admitted into the Highcrest Dragon Unit. Back then, there was an arrogant guy named Arkanis, who claimed to have been the unit’s combat champion for three consecutive terms. Relying on his veteran status, he tried to bully the newly joined Valmor.

However, just one day later, Lord Arkanis was thoroughly dealt with and subdued, and his streak of combat championships was ended by Valmor.

Not long after, Valmor completely took command of the entire Highcrest Dragon Unit, and Lord Arkanis admired him to an extreme degree!

Later, because Valmor kept achieving extraordinary feats, he quickly rose through the ranks and established his own “Elite Black Rider Army.”

Amid his busy official duties, he hadn’t really known what became of his comrades from the Highcrest Dragon Unit back then.

Now, nearly ten years had passed, and recalling those past events filled Valmor with emotion. He also wanted to know whether this Lord Arkanis that Linzell mentioned was his old comrade.

However, Valmor’s waiting was perceived by others as a sign of weakness.

Everyone assumed that upon hearing Lord Arkanis’s formidable reputation, Valmor had been stunned and frightened, and they began to whisper mockingly and jeer.

“Heh, what’s the matter? Afraid to make a move? Kneel and kowtow to me now—maybe you can still salvage your miserable life!” Linzell also thought that Valmor must be terrified, scared out of his wits by Lord Arkanis’s legendary fame, and unwilling to act. So, he loudly shouted with extreme arrogance.

At that moment, a tall man appeared, standing straight with disciplined steps. Even in a perfectly tailored suit, he could not conceal the formidable military aura radiating from him.

This man’s presence seemed to carry an inexplicable pressure.

The atmosphere was intensely solemn and deadly.

The bodyguards along the way all instinctively lowered their heads slightly, not daring to make eye contact.

This was Lord Arkanis, former Highcrest Dragon Unit soldier, who had killed hundreds of enemies and won three consecutive military combat championships.

His murderous aura was like a tiger descending from the mountains—unstoppable!

Seeing him, Linzell stepped forward to greet him. “Master, you’ve finally arrived! Someone came to cause trouble—a real tough guy. Only your personal intervention can settle this!”

Lord Arkanis looked straight ahead, as if others did not even exist in his eyes. Calmly, he asked. “Second Young Master, who is causing trouble?”

Overjoyed, Linzell Barbar hurriedly pointed at Valmor and said viciously. “Master, it’s him! This insolent little ant dares to cause trouble in my place! Deal with him!”

Lord Arkanis slowly turned his head and followed Linzell Barbar’s gaze.

Finally, he saw Valmor—and saw him clearly.

Immediately—

Lord Arkanis’s eyes widened in disbelief, his face full of astonishment, and even two streams of tears fell from his tiger-like eyes.

Even a blood-and-iron man could not help but shed tears in such excitement and joy!

Who could have imagined that after leaving the military, he would see the captain who had led him through life-and-death situations, the idol he revered most in his life!

It was like a dream!

Swish!

Suddenly, Lord Arkanis’s body straightened instantly, his legs together in a formal attention stance. He raised his right hand in a military salute and loudly proclaimed:

“Lord Arkanis, former Highcrest Dragon Unit Instructor, reporting to the Captain!”

The word “Captain” instantly silenced the entire hotel lobby.

Captain? Reporting?

Lord Arkanis—the head of security for the Barbar Family, the chief coach of bodyguards, one of their survival experts—actually called Valmor “Captain”? And he treated this young man of around twenty, dressed in ordinary clothes, with utmost respect!

This was completely unexpected and caused an unbelievable sense of panic among everyone present.

“Master, wh-what is going on?” Linzell asked, his scalp tingling with fear.

However, Lord Arkanis remained standing straight, maintaining his military posture, eyes fixed on Valmor, as if waiting for orders, ignoring Linzell Barbar entirely.

At this moment, Valmor slowly spoke. “At ease.”

“Yes!”

Lord Arkanis shouted loudly, lowering his saluting hand, yet his entire body remained standing straight and rigid in front of Valmor, not daring to move an inch!

At that moment, everyone present was shocked, their eyes widening as they gasped in astonishment!

A command! Lord Arkanis was actually waiting for Valmor’s orders, and regarding whatever he said, he obeyed without question…

Linzell was also stunned. He couldn’t help but look at Lord Arkanis again and ask. “Master, what… what exactly is going on here?”

However, by now, Lord Arkanis was so overwhelmed with emotion that he could barely contain himself.

His whole body trembled with excitement, and in his ears, he could only hear Valmor’s voice. The presence of others was invisible and inaudible to him.

“Captain… I never thought I’d see you again!”

Tears streamed down Lord Arkanis’s face, his voice choked with emotion.

Since Valmor had left the Highcrest Dragon Unit and risen through the ranks, all news about him had become top secret.

So, although Lord Arkanis and the other comrades cared deeply about Valmor, they had no knowledge of his situation.

For this reason, Lord Arkanis had always addressed Valmor as “Captain.” He did not know that after leaving the Highcrest Dragon Unit, Valmor had guarded the nation’s borders, protected the frontier, fought countless bloody battles, earned immortal military honors, and had already been appointed the youngest five-star commander in Kragmor, wielding supreme authority and bestowed the title: The King of Carnage!

Yet, a chill flickered across Valmor’s face as he said coldly:

“Lord Arkanis!”

Lord Arkanis immediately snapped to attention and shouted, “Yes!”

“You… have disappointed me too much.”

Valmor stared at Lord Arkanis and said calmly.

Lord Arkanis’s eyes went wide with horror.

What?

He… had actually disappointed the captain he respected and admired most in his heart…

For a moment, cold sweat instantly broke out on Lord Arkanis’s forehead. His stiff body trembled violently, as if struck hard by a punch, his feet faltering, almost causing him to fall.

“Do you still remember the oath you took when you joined the Dragon Unit?” Valmor asked.

Lord Arkanis immediately responded loudly. “I remember! Bound by blood, loyal in death—once of the Dragon Unit, forever its blade!”

“That’s good that you remember! Even though you’ve retired now, you are still a Dragon Unit! But look at you now—where is even a trace of a Dragon Unit soldier? Serving as a lackey, you’ve already become a watchdog for the Barbar Family!”

Valmor’s voice rang out clearly, striking like a hammer, deafening and earth-shaking!

Hearing this, Lord Arkanis’s heart pounded in terror. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn’t make a sound. His face turned pale, his entire body trembling as if struck by lightning!

“Master Arkanis, hurry, take down that guy! You have to know, you’re the chief security instructor hired at a high salary by our Barbar Family!”

Seeing the situation unclear, Linzell hurriedly urged Lord Arkanis to act against Valmor.

“Shut up!”

Upon hearing this, Lord Arkanis’s eyes turned bloodshot, glaring fiercely at Linzell Barbar, his killing intent palpable:

“Whoever dares touch the captain, I’ll kill them! Even you, Young Master Barbar, are no exception!”

Everyone around drew a sharp breath, their scalps tingling. Slowly, they began to sense that this young man in ordinary camouflage, looking about twenty-five, was not as powerless or insignificant as they had imagined!

At this moment, Kelsey seemed to realize something. Her expression suddenly turned fearful as she looked at Valmor and said.

“Lord Arkanis calls you ‘Captain.’ Could it be… could it be that you are the commander of the Highcrest Dragon Unit? Holding the rank of Colonel?”
