The Huge Alert

Adrain screamed which made Matilda jerk off immediately. She was surprised and confused at the same time, hoping it wasn't Adrain that screamed her name.

Adrain was watching her with a disappointed expression which made Matilda somehow uneasy. Had she known Adrain would check on her, she would not get away with Tony's love confession, to the extent of kissing in public.

She kept opening her mouth like three times and couldn't think of what to say.

"It's not what you think, Adrain. I was only trying to help here. I was helping Tony to remove some dust on his shirt" she fabricated smoothly.

The anger inside Adrian increased immediately. He may be poor but doesn't have any eye problems. He was sure of what he saw.

"Are you for real? Just try to listen to yourself. You told me you are sick and I'm on my way to check on you, but you are here kissing another guy and still have the gut to start lying?" Adrain ranted, making his vein come out of his forehead.

"You need to trust me Adrain, I was only trying to help. There is nothing between us" Matilda tried to defend herself, hoping her sweet talks would get into Adrain.

"Sweetie, what's happening here? You told me you didn't love Adrain but were only using him to get good grades, should your father disown you" Tony uttered, appearing to be more confused.

"What? What did he just say? You have been using me for my intelligence's sake? How on earth will you do such a thing!" Adrain roared, yanking off Matilda, who wanted to rub his head.  

"But you told me you loved me, you told me my status does not mean anything. You made me believe in your words but all were lies, it's because of my intelligence" Adrain began to cry. The heartbreak was too much for me.

"Hey! Are you listening to yourself? What made me think someone like me will fall in love with a pauper like you? A whole Matilda Smith! You are intelligent, despite your poor status and I decided to test your brain which was useful! You taught me some of the subjects that weren't clear to me and I managed to top the three best students in class, which I've been aiming to get to my father's good side and so what? Didn't I repay you? You're supposed to be worshiping my feet if you ain't an ingrate! I made this school a lively place for you, despite the inconveniences and the embarrassment that mingling with you is bringing to me every day, isn't that enough?" Matilda yelled at him, making him look like a loser.

"He should have told me from the beginning that you only want me to tutor you. I would have done that without any strings attached! You are worse than those that criticize me at every given opportunity. It's unfair" he cried more

"Excuse me, Mr. Man, why do you think I became your friend? Why would I choose the poorest guy in this school when I've Tony and others that are running after me? Tony Is far better than you in all ways! Yes, I can say it all over again! You only gave me a gift once, since we started this relationship and it was a cheap necklace that cost a few dollars on our hundred days anniversary. Did you even notice that I've not been wearing it? Of course, I can't stoop so low to wear such a thing! See my wrist, Tony gifted me this wristwatch yesterday that our relationship just clocked ten days and it cos hundhundredsuthousandsdollars! He is the heir to his father's company and you are nothing but trash without any future!" She blasted Adrain, showing off her wrist for him to see clearly.

"Hey, Pauper! You should know that you don't deserve such an angel like Matilda. She is now my lady and you are nothing but a loser. You don't need to worry about her much, I'll take over the teaching and will also pamper her with all the care she deserves. So, leave this place right now and get lost!" He also mocked him more.

Adrain turned his back and I wanted to leave but Tony's voice stopped him. 

"If I were you, I wouldn't have accepted the scholarship in the first place. This school will never accept trash like you" he added.

Adrain left the scene for a silent place on the school premises. He was very annoyed at himself. He thought Matilda had loved him but all turned out to be false. She has been the only reason that made the school a comfortable place for learning. Now, he just realized that he has been used all this while. The necklace that he got her cost him two months of working hard before he was able to gather the money. 

What has he done? He would have offered to tutor her for free if he had known that Matilda doesn't love him from the beginning! What the heck! 

With that, he became vexed and didn't know when he began to cry out. Tears were rolling down from his cheeks and mucor was coming out from his nostrils. 

He walked closer to the nearby tree and began punching it. To him, it was the only way to let out his anger.

Trying to retaliate against what happened between him, Matilda and Tony would earn him nothing but a big shame and he may end up getting rusticated from the school.

He punched the tree till his hands were bleeding. He got tired and sat on the floor, thinking about his life.

He recalled the first time he met Matilda. It was the day he arrived at the school premises. Everybody chose to stare at him with disdainful looks and none allowed him to stay in the hostel with them. He was determined not to leave the school and thought it would get better but he almost received his first beating when he mistakenly stepped on one of the student's sneakers.

Matilda showed up and paid for the money.

"Heard you are very brilliant and some even tagged you as someone with a computer brain. Do you mind being my friend?" She offered, shining out her teeth which initially surprised Adrain.

"Why do you want to be my friend when others are seeing me as a plague? Does that mean you ain't like others?" Adrain questioned innocently to satisfy his conscience.

While others are rejecting him, she chooses to accept him wholeheartedly and makes the school worth living while others are making it a living hell.

Adrain couldn't help but let out a dry and weak smile. He was tired of the whole scenario. He wouldn't have fallen in love if he knew it would end up breaking his heart. Matilda was their first love.

"There is no reason for me to keep staying in this school if I don't want to be roasted alive by those devilish students. My only confidant is gone and it's gonna worsen my situation" he told himself.

He walked towards his hostel and commenced packing his loads. Fortunately, there weren't many. Just a few pieces of old clothes. He carried his old bag and began trekking towards the school gate. He was already determined to go back to his former school, where he earned lots of respect and also had peace of mind.

"Good news! The riff-raff is finally leaving!" A lady announced happily.

"Wow! That's great news. Now, we will be able to breathe well"

"I can't believe I'll be able to walk around the school without the fear of seeing the cursed one"

"Seeing him every day always ruins my mood!"

"Finally, my worst nightmare is leaving" 

Those were words from his fellow students. He was emotional but quickly wiped away tears from his face and composed himself.

"Don't look at the back, Adrain. It will only worsen the situation" he told himself and pretended as if their words ain't getting to his heart.

He was about to exit the school gate when his phone beeped. He rushed to check it and it was a message from the principal of his former school. He had texted her earlier, to ask if he can still come back to his former school as life has become unbearable for living at his current school.

"Of course, you can come back. We have all missed you and will be eager to welcome you with open arms" the message says. He was relieved a little bit and thinking his part-time job will be increased by two hours again pierced his heart.

He dropped the phone back to his pocket and within two minutes, it vibrated again. He sluggishly checked it and couldn't believe his eyes.

"Five hundred Billion dollars!" He raised his eyebrows in amazement!
