"Sit."

Mylos blinked, then sat down on the chair facing that of his father. He stared into the man's eyes, his brows were furrowed and shoulders tense. He seemed anxious, but did not give himself away with any strange action.

"Father, I—"

The Chaos Eminence waved his hand, causing Mylos to shut his mouth and look away. After he had given his son the signal to shut his mouth, the Chaos Eminence drops his hand and laid it upon the table between them.

"Don't bother yourself…" The Chaos Eminence sighed as he closed his eyes and laid back in his seat, "A large number of them had attacked the building you told me you would hide in. I guess, that was a very smart move."

"No father. This has gotten to something beyond what I am able to handle." Mylos cut in after listening to all his father had to say, his brows still furrowed as he was still in deep thoughts, "I believe you know what I saw there."

The Chaos Eminence smiled warmly as he picked up a glass cup filled with water and raised it to his mouth for him to drink. He closed his eyes as the cup neared his lips, and prepared himself to sip from it.

"I saw everything. It called it, “ Reality”. I believe that it's the truth of why they are trying their best to kill me. You should know what I saw too, right?" Mylos knocked his finger on the table, and a light flashed in his eyes.

The glass cup in the Chaos Eminences' hand exploded, and water splashed all over table. Clenching his fist with a frown on his face, he locked his gaze with Mylos and a cold feeling rose up in his heart.

"We were weak. Your mother and many others were not anything but sacrifices for us to survive his wrath." With a cold gleam now in his eyes, The Chaos Eminence left the water on the table and simply dropped his hand.

"Hah! Sister, too? She was sacrificed by the church to a mad god! I saw their faces — I know where they are, and I swore to tear down their castle!" Mylos stood up from his seat suddenly, causing his chair to fly backwards.

"Mylos…"

Mylos scoffed, then he turned around and gazed into a window by the side. He stared aimlessly at his reflection for a few seconds, then his expression turned ugly, "The bastard hunter that killed my mother is still alive."

"So is the Eminence that promised to seal you up the second he considers you a threat to his Alliance!" The Chaos Eminence growled without standing to his feet, "You have so much information, and so little strength."

So little strength? He really believes that I'm too weak to defeat a group of pathetic humans—!

"You can't do anything, but die before your enemy. Do you expect to avenge your mother and sister without an ability or a trump card under your sleeve?" The Chaos Eminence spat coldly as he watched his young son.

"I…" Mylos shut his mouth as a realisation struck him, causing his brows to furrow and a frown to form on his face. He knew deep in his heart that he could not defeat anything without power.

"You're weak, pathetic and useless. If you're not any better, you'd be killed soon and forgotten in a week, or maybe a few days more." The Chaos Eminence waved his hand, then sighed deeply.

Mylos's eyes flashed in a calculative light. His father was not wrong, and he could not find many words to argue. He was weak. All he would be reduced to was nothing but an undying test subject.

In the face of an Eminence? He could not stand his ground as he did with the Sword. Mylos knew that a serious Sword Eminence would reduce him to bits in just mere seconds into their exchange.

As for more powerful eminences like Destruction or Death? Even his father? He wouldn't even be strong enough to stand a single strike against them! If they were to attack him now, all he could do was sit down and die to avoid any unnecessary pain.

Mylos found himself calming down considerably as he thought everything through. He would be just as weak in front of the church and their massive base of stronger heroes where he stood as fodder.

"I see you've come to a realisation, youngling. Now that you've put some thought into it, what will you do?" The Chaos Eminence stared intently at Mylos, a number of thoughts running wild in his head.

Mylos' gaze softened for a second, but as scenes of the past flashed past his eyes again, his will to battle with the Eminences was reignited. He was weak, but that didn't mean he would sit down and remain weak forever!

"I won't back down." Mylos' straightened his back and clenched his fists. He was not going to surrender to any of them! He wasn't going to lie down and die while the souls of the forsaken cry out, still.

Mylos turned around, and bolted out the door, leaving his father to stare at his escaping back with a stern light in his eyes. As soon as he had ran off, his father finally stood to his feet with a frown on his face.

"Mylos!" The Chaos Eminence shouted, but didn't give pursuit. His face went from stern to exhaustion in a blink and after a while, he looked concerned, "Follow him. He looked as if he was going to do something very stupid."

Just as soon as Mylos ran out, a bespectacled feminine demon walked into the room with some papers in hand, bowing down to the Chaos Eminence before dropping the papers, then giving her lord a questioning stare.

"He will do something stupid. I want you to follow him, and protect him from doing anything stupid without the backing of this family." The Chaos Eminence sat himself down, then picked up some papers and began reading.

"Should I kill if considered necessary?" With a confused gleam in her eyes, she watched the Eminence whilst her mind wandered to how she would scold Mylos later, "I'll also need permission to beat some sense into him."

"You can kill anything you want, I don't care. All you are ordered to do is to protect Mylos. It's up to you, Aysla whether to beat the living daylights out of him, or not."

A light flashed in the Chaos Eminence's eyes as he lifted his head to flash Aysla a warm smile. Within the warmth of his expression, Aysla could detect the piecing cold in his eyes and was unable to respond with a smile.

"I understand, lord." Aysla face remained as cold as ice as she turned around, and bolted out the room. She was able to follow Mylos by tracing his scent with her overly sensitive sense of smell.

"With the Church of Heavens under ‘attack’, I can only expect the number of Eminences willing to lend 'helping hands’ to it." The Chaos Eminence shook his head as a thought crossed his mind, "This city would be painted with blood soon enough."

——

Mylos on the other hand, grabbed his sword and bag of some clothing and accessories, then barged out through the front door. He had changed into a thick hoodie for concealing his face, and strapped his sword to his waist.

He wore the bag over his back, and tightened it's straps across his chest. After ensuring everything was prepared properly, Mylos narrowed his eyes and calmed the storm in his heart before dashing forth, breaking into a sprint.

From just muscle memory, he knew that the church had a base some hundred kilometres away from this mansion and understood it was heavily guarded. He also believed the number of hunters in that area to quadruple.

With his bag of useful accessories for blending into the tight human crowds, he believed he could reach there a few days ahead of those who weren't. He also believed he would have to shake off a few “bugs”.

As for destroying the church? Haha!

Father told me I wouldn't be able to destroy the church with my pathetic strength and nonexistent army? If that is the case, then I'll build an army from the ashes of the hunters after my life — and tear down the church!

With the church torn down, I can expand my army and reach towards more empires of light. Once I've rid this city of the hunters and popes, then I would strike down the Eminence manipulating my assassination attempts.

I will put an end to all these... Soon enough.

  • Her Father, The Hero

"Me, an old man? Youngsters of these days are so disrespectful. The eagerness to die is very amusing." The man held Karen in his arms, caressing the back of her head. He glanced at the struggling Alissa, "I can't believe what you kids are doing in my house," "Not only have you managed to put my beloved Karen in danger, you also mess up her room with your pathetic essence. I can't bear the disgust from these stupid acts." Mylos chuckled, then turned to Alissa. After seconds in silence, he approached her with his sword held tight, not dropping his guard even once. After reaching her, Mylos extended his right hand, "Come on, get up." Hearing his voice, Alissa calmed herself down. After the fog in her head cleared, she lifted her head to see Mylos extending his hand towards her. Without hesitation, she grabbed his hand — hoisting herself to her feet. "You don't need to speak for some time. We have some annoying company here. Let me handle this first before I can ask of the e

  • Old Man

"He was swept away by its tail… Thrown off balance just a second from cutting down the vicious beast…” Mylos sat down with his eyes closed. Listening to Alissa as she read the book, he let himself collapse into a state of absolute concentration. Pieces of paper and dust was cast into the air by his aura, swirling around him slowly. What can his chaos energy do? As a demon, his energy was the core of all his abilities. The energy he cultivated in himself powered his demonic arts, it allowed Mylos to unleash attacks beyond the capabilities of other demons. It allowed him to warp the space around himself, to tear through surfaces without making contact. It allowed him to practice what humans called “mana”, giving the power to utilise his chaos energy for an arsenal of new abilities. "The unbalanced knight struggled to get on his feet. A feeling of doom loomed over him as the beast marched towards him, it's eyes bright red with bloodlust…" Mylos frowned. He'd read somewher

  • Unlocking Magic With Chaos

Karen passed a book to Mylos. Bouncing around him in the mountain of books she'd built in her room which was just as massive as the one Mylos booked in the past, just that it was crowded with bookshelves and toys. "Grim Reaper…" She frowned, skimmed through a book then placed it in the slot she'd dragged it out of. After returning the book to it's slot, she dashed towards another shelf, burying her face into the books without lifting her head once. "Hmm, makes sense. Well, makes sense enough for the kind of world we were born into. There was also chances he didn't actually do this, but who cares? It is coolest for the kind of monster created, it's quite interesting!" Mylos just stood speechless. He had explained to Karen what happened as simply as he could to avoid anything confusing for the little girl. If only he knew that after he explained to her, he'd be the one thrown into confusion. "From what I understand, you must have some ability in you that aided in revivin

  • Experiment

“Knock Knock!” Mylos knocked on the door so boldly that he stunned a silent Karen who stood besides him. She compared his actions now to his reaction earlier, wondering where his earlier hesitation to even stand metres away had gone. Alissa remained silent. She didn't know why, but she was never interested in speaking unless Mylos said otherwise and just like the feeling of loyalty she had towards him, it was difficult for her to understand this as well. After three seconds of wait, there was a clamour inside the building then the sound of someone running down the stairs. After two more seconds, someone finally got the door dragged open to welcome the visitors. The woman had long black hair, a symmetrical face that was extremely similar to Karen's, and ink black eyes that gleamed in a soft light. She wore a welcoming smile on her face as she saw Mylos and Alissa behind Karen. "Mother!" Karen ran into the woman's arms. Mylos just watched in silence, the powerful Hero

  • Not Fully Dead

"Pant… Pant…" Mylos hunched over panting. He'd succeeded in a final experiment to test Alissa's limits. From attempts to cut off her limbs, to decapitation and giving strange orders, he was nothing short of amazed by what the zomb— he meant, strange human could do! Cognitive decisions could be made after receiving of an order from ‘Master’. Defensive and offensive capabilities were definitely greater than that of average humans, her ability to analyse orders and make ‘affective’ decisions is a feat Mylos found quite interesting to test for himself. So far she'd only shown a few affective decisions which rivalled his ‘absolute orders’. One was hesitation to harm him or herself, another was her disagreement with saying anything about her past whilst preferring to stay mute unless asked to speak by Mylos. Mylos has explained the situation to Aysla, and after he confirmed a lot of things before her, she didn't attempt to eliminate the zomb— strange human. Although she was sti

  • The Hidden Monster

"What did we do? I said it was an experiment, someone like you isn't supposed to know anything about it." The receptionist rolled her eyes, she didn't even blink twice as she ruthlessness played down Mylos's question. Mylos chuckled. "Someone like me?" The coldness in his eyes suddenly sharpened, and the space around him stirred as his aura began to flare, the blade in his hands grew even colder to the receptionist, a wicked glint shining on it's blade. "You can't threaten me. I won't tell you—" Mylos twisted his wrist, and in one clean stroke severed the receptionist's arm from her shoulder. Before she was able to react, his pressed his blade against her neck, this time — locking her frozen in place with widened eyes. Her severed arm shrivelled up on the ground, turning to dust in mere seconds. Although she didn't regenerate it back in a second, the blood stopped flowing as the arm slowly grew back out. She was stunned. "The next would be your head. I won't even bl
