In an Unfamiliar Place.

Right after Madam Maeve knocked, she opened the and stepped. A confused Xavier had to follow suit but not after thinking for a second.

But the moment he stepped in after Madam Maeve, his senses was first assaulted with the luxurious smell of lavender, followed by the magnificent view of the spacious bedroom and then the soft sound of music coming from the stereo.

He was awed at how a place could feel like heaven but that didn't last for a minute because his fantastical thought vanished the moment he recognized everyone in the room, even though he couldn't see their faces and didn't make eye contact with them.

The awe and admiration disappeared from Xavier's face immediately after he recognized the people in the room.

'These lunatics of a family...' he cursed and was about to voice out the thought he had kept deep in his heart, waiting for the right day to voice it out.

However, Xavier was quick to remember who he really was, a pathetic weak loser that could never fight or stand up for himself, especially around these rich and powerful people.

Thus he stayed quiet and kept everything within himself.

"How is everything going?" Mrs Edna asked, she had just stepped out of the shower, she had a white robe wrapped around her and her brown short curly hair was wrapped in a towel while she held a cup of hot coffee.

Xavier who had been staring at his feet heard Mrs Edna's question and wasn't sure who it was directed at and was ready to speak up anyway but Madam Maeve beat him to it.

"Everything is going fine and the preparation is moving smoothly." She responded in a not so regular kind tone with a slight bow.

The room turned quiet for a while before Madam Maeve spoke up again, breaking the silence.

"He is the newly assigned servant." She pointed out and her words was more than enough to catch the attention of the three uninterested individuals inside the room.

Blair who had sat on her mother's bed on the other side of the room admiring her beauty in a small mirror paused and turned to face the direction of Madam Maeve and the supposedly newly assigned servant she had heard of from her parents.

Preston who had also been standing by the floor to ceiling window with a glass of whiskey seemingly lost in his own thoughts did not waste a second to turn the moment he heard the word 'newly assigned servant'.

Mrs Edna's reaction was nothing different from her children's, she too had to turn to look at the pathetic fool who had almost caused her husband to lose his life.

Meanwhile, Xavier who been staring at his feet suddenly felt the strong piercing stares coming from different angles, all hairs on his back stood on edge that he almost shivered from the chill.

He then lifted his head and then his eyes met with those of the Biller's family's. Their stares were penetrating and full of weird emotions.

One was a stare of nothing but pure rage and another was a stare of curiosity and something else he couldn't pinpoint and the other was of nothing but a blank stare and for some odd reasons yet to be known, he could feel the killing intent coming from the blank stare.

The room was silent and awkward, cold breeze filled the place, giving Xavier the chills. He stood like a statue and didn't know what to do than just recieve those stares.

Noticing the situation, Madam Maeve cleared her throat and said, "Xavier, you should bow and greet your boss."

Hearing what she said, Xavier turned to look at her, a little confused. Boss? How?...hold on. Since they had clearly said he was the newly appointed servant and this house belongs to this family, that meant he was serving them? But how?...

He became deeply confused and gave Mrs Edna a deep questioning stare.

Seeing the look on his face, Mrs Edna chuckled a bit, she took a few steps away from where she had been standing and dropped her cup of coffee on the small table, she then folded her hands across her chest and asked, "Surprised, aren't we?"

But Xavier was too shocked to speak or respond to her. The only thing on his mind was how he got here to begin with.

"Aren't you supposed to be greeting your boss? It seems wretches like you also lack manners and respect." Preston said, his anger was nowhere melting down, if anything, it was only increasing by seconds.

Just the mere existence of Xavier was enough to make him boil in rage. If he could find a way to make Xavier non-existent, he wouldn't mind doing it.

"Preston? Please leave us and don't try to argue, just leave." Mrs Edna ordered as she noticed Preston's behaviour.

Left with no choice, Preston stormed out of the bedroom but not after glaring hard at Xavier and making sure to brush shoulders with him aggressively.

Seeing Preston had left, she then turned to face Xavier and this time she walked even more closer and stood right before him.

All this while, Blair had just been quiet, watching the whole drama unfold before her.

"You look surprised, have something to say? If not you can leave and go join the other servants as you should, there's so much work to be done here and people like you shouldn't slack."

She paused and proceeded to continue, "I must really thank you though, because thanks to you, our family would receive more recognition and even sympathy from people, this helps us remain in the spotlight."

"And the least I can do is help your miserable life by giving you a job here, the Billers are really nice people you know." She chuckled again while adjusting her robe, enjoying how provoked Xavier looked.

"I don't belong here, you brought me here against my will and I have every right to leave." Xavier responded to her, his eyes bloodshot as they stared right at her.

But Mrs Edna laughed, "Aren't you an interesting fella? Listen up and listen good, you can never leave here once stepped in except I approve of it. So keep your mouth shut and get to work."

But Xavier snorted at her and without a word stepped out of the bedroom. Mrs Edna smiled, knowing what his next move would be.

She walked up to her vanity table and picked up her mobile phone, she dialed a number and placed it on her ear.

"Get prepared, a fish is trying to escape and you know what to do."
