Teacher Zhao was pacing around his well-furnished cottage.

Wei Fang was seated on a chair just a few meters from the door; he was also deep in thought.

This was currently the biggest loss of his teaching career, and he couldn't just let it slide.

Everyone in the academy knew how good Qin Yue was; she had literally been the reason he could accrue a two-star grade in just one year.

Everything was going well. He recruited some more students, and it wasn't even hard due to how impressive Qin Yue had been.

Somewhere along the way, Wei Feng came along, and he was brilliant as well, now nearing his third star—but he had lost his most prized possession and currently one of the fastest-growing students in the academy, Qin Yue.

Teacher Zhao sighed; he knew the truth better than anyone. Your students determined how far you went as a teacher.

"Don't worry, Teacher Zhao, don't worry. The students' tournament is coming up in a month like you said. The laws are simple—the lowest-ranked teacher in the competition is eliminated," Wei Fang said, and he wasn't wrong. Each year, a student tournament was hosted between teachers of different star levels.

Star one, two, and three had theirs, and six to nine had theirs as well.

It was one of the most sought-after competitions in the academy, mainly because it led to an increase of one star for a teacher and the decrease of another by one star.

In cases where a teacher had less than two stars, he would be automatically expelled.

So Teacher Zhao's plan was simple: just wait until the students' tournament. There was no way Lu Chang was going to get two stars before then; you had to be rewarded from academy missions you completed and from each improvement your students achieved.

At the very least, the lowest reward was about one hundred academy points; one needed at least one thousand to earn a star, ten thousand for two stars, and so on—so it was nearly impossible for him to even reach two stars in such a short time, given who he was.

With that thought, Teacher Zhao finally eased himself and sat down on the chair.

"It's a good plan for sure. Our path is to prepare hard for the tournament too; at least we can rank up and double down on why our class is the best," Teacher Zhao said, a knowing smile appearing on his face.

---

Lu Chang looked at Qin Yue with a smile. Qin Yue stared back, a little scared she might have overdone her interference.

"You have done well; your core is finally back to its functional state. You will need more sessions of yin stimulation and probably a session of yin penetration to strengthen it enough," he said gently, looking straight into her eyes.

Qin Yue teared up slightly; she couldn't believe she would ever be able to cultivate again. Was this man a saint from the realms above?

She couldn't comprehend what was happening. Given how much her family had sacrificed just for her to enter the academy, she couldn't help but feel grateful.

"What's the problem? Don't cry; it wasn't a big deal, actually. Cheer up," Lu Chang said, bending slightly to wipe the tears from her eyes with his hands.

Just as he was about to stand back up, Qin Yue suddenly hugged him and broke down even more.

"Thank you so much, Teacher Chang. You don't know how much this means—you really don't," she said, her heart pouring out. Imagine if she had never met him at that time; what would have become of her fate?

Lu Chang gently patted her back, speaking words of encouragement like those a teacher would give a student.

"Well, we have some work laid out to do. The students' tournament is coming up, and we need more students. If we lose, I get knocked out. Do you want me gone?" Lu Chang asked subtly as he petted her hair.

Qin Yue nodded frantically, her face still buried in Lu Chang's shoulder.

"It's alright. Just don't forget to come for your yin stimulation every morning. I will try to do a yin penetration ritual soon to solidify your core," he said calmly.

Over the days, Qin Yue and Lu Chang began building quite a solid relationship.

Lu Chang always thought of her well and tried to improve her skills as much as he could while he searched for another student.

Time was slowly running out, and as much as he hated to admit it, he wasn't going to do much in the competition with just one student.

"Wow, ten thousand? Wow, Teacher Chang, take a look," Qin Yue said, pulling at his hand as she pointed to the power rock that measured intensity.

"That's impressive. At this rate, we should get your ice-blasting technique to about 1,250 by next week. It's not the peak, but we need to prioritize healing your core first. I don't want to walk you out," Lu Chang said calmly.

"You can go now; we're done for today. Don't forget to come early tomorrow so I can finish the yin stimulation and finally end it with a yin penetration to solidify things further."

After talking and saying their goodbyes, Lu Chang returned to his cottage. It had been exhausting these past few days, as he spent all his free time researching Qin Yue's case in the library.

There was still a lot to smooth out; her core was slightly weak, so all they could focus on for now was her power strike.

Lu Chang sighed as he settled in. This was exactly why he needed another student—just in case she wasn't fully healed by the time of the student tournament.

Upon entering, Lu Chang activated the Divine Lust Library. Immediately, the intricate Infinix-like layout appeared in front of him.

Today, he was finally going to read about his own cultivation. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, a book leapt from the shelf toward him.

Not open respect. Not yet.But no one laughed. That alone was new.---Tang Mo walked on his right, slower than usual but upright. Her injuries were real, but her posture hadn’t changed. Chin slightly raised. Eyes forward.Qin Yue walked on his left, calm as ever, her steps quiet, her presence colder than the morning air. They didn’t speak. They didn’t need to.---At the end of the stone path stood a tall, simple building. No decorations. No grand display.Just a carved plaque above the entrance:Administrative Hall---Tang Mo clicked her tongue softly.“…So it’s real.”Qin Yue’s gaze lingered on the doorway.“…It always was.”---A junior attendant spotted them immediately and straightened.“You’ve been called,”

Conversations still lingered in quiet corners, spreading in fragments - a name here, a rumor there.Tang Mo.Lu Chang.Something strange was happening.---Inside the small residence, the air was still.Tang Mo sat cross-legged on the floor, back against the wall, eyes half-closed. Her breathing was uneven at first, but slowly, gradually, it began to settle.Across from her, Qin Yue mirrored the posture.Calm.Focused.Silent.---Lu Chang stood near the window.Watching.Not outside. But them.---“Don’t force it,” he said.Tang Mo clicked her tongue without opening her eyes.“…I’m not forcing anything.”“You are.”A pause.“…Your Qi is spiking every few breaths.”---Tang Mo’s brows tightened slightly. She didn’t argue.Because she felt it too. That unstable surge beneath the surface.Like something inside her was still trying to push further… even when he

The fight had already pushed her past her limits. But her eyes remained sharp.Unyielding.Across from her, Lin Xue stood just as still. No longer untouchable. No longer distant. For the first time since the tournament began, her breathing had lost its perfect rhythm. That alone said everything.Tang Mo wiped the corner of her lips with the back of her hand and let out a slow breath.“So… this is the last one.”Lin Xue studied her quietly. Then gave a faint nod.“Yes.”No arrogance.
