the system

Lee can't bear it and shouts, "No, I'm not the one!"

"Any proof to back it up?" the judge inquires.

Lee shouts, "Here! This is the button I found at the crime scene. It's not mine; it belongs to the real culprit. I am not the one!" Tears fill his eyes.

Alyson promptly objects, "My lord, I would like you to reject that. Why didn't he submit it until now? He didn't cooperate with the police and held onto this inadmissible evidence. He didn't even inform his attorney. As I told you, the only thing he can spew is lies."

Lee continues to plead, "No, I swear I am not!"

Suddenly, the courtroom door opens, and all attention shifts toward the unexpected entrant – the girl, the victim. She has awakened. Lee smiles, hopeful that this development will bring resolution to his situation.

"I am Anne, the victim," she announces, "and I want to stand as a witness to who really raped me."

Her revelation sends shockwaves through the courtroom.

The judge calls for order and allows her to testify. Alyson begins to question her, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation.

Anne, fighting back tears, manages to say, "Yes, I remember it all, very vividly."

Alyson presses, "Do you remember who raped you?"

Anne sniffs and nods, "Yes, I remember."

"Okay, tell us who," Alyson urges.

The room falls silent, and Lee turns his gaze to Mr. Chae, hoping the victim will identify Dylan as the assailant.

Anne hesitates for a moment and then utters, "Him... him, he raped me. That bastard raped me!" as she points at Lee.

Lee's eyes widen in shock, realizing that Mr. Chae's plan has completely framed him.

The chief judge carries out the verdict, stating,

"Based on the evidence presented and the seriousness of the crimes committed, it is the decision of this court that the defendant, Mr. Lee, is sentenced to life imprisonment for the heinous acts of rape and attempted murder.

These actions have caused irreparable harm to the victim and society at large, and we must ensure the safety of the community. This sentence serves as a means of punishment and a deterrent to others who might contemplate such horrific actions. The court's decision is final."

"All rise!" The commanding voice echoes through the courtroom, jolting Lee from his daze.

He couldn't believe all of this was happening.

As the guards escort him out, he found himself face to face with Mr. Chae, smirking at him.

"I tell you, you're not worth bargaining with me. I control this country," Mr. Chae boasts, his smug smile infuriating.

"You deceived me. You made the girl say it was me. You ruined me," Lee groans, frustration etches across his face.

"Yeah, I did that, and there's nothing you can do. Your life is already ruined because you're just a grassboy," Mr. Chae retorts, callously dismissing Lee's anguish. Tears welled up in Lee's eyes.

Desperation overtake Lee.

"Okay, just do one thing for me. Please, in exchange for letting your son off, take care of my sister," he pleads, hoping for a shred of humanity in Mr. Chae.

Mr. Chae scoffs but surprisingly agreed.

"Okay, I will do that," he says, and then he leaves the room, leaving Lee to wonder if it was a promise or just empty words.

{three years later}.

Lee had experienced the depths of despair behind bars. He believed he would never feel fresh air again.

Bruises from the frequent beatings covered his face. His cellmate, a young man named Mike, shared a similar story of being framed for murder, connecting them in their shared misery..

"Do you wish to die?" Mike asks, his voice filled with a haunting seriousness.

"Yes, I'm finding a way to die," Lee mutters, his hopelessness palpable.

"Take this," Mike hands him a pill, a glimmer of eerie calmness in his eyes.

"What's that?" Lee asks, eyeing the mysterious pill.

"I got it in the clinic room. It's called Mortisomnium for a peaceful way to end one's life," Mike says, an unsettling smile on his face.

"Are you crazy? Why..." Before Lee can finish, Mike's face contorts in agony, clutching his chest, choking on the pill.

"I want to end it all," he gasps, foam starting to appear at his mouth. Other inmates call for the officer, and Mike is taken away, lifeless, leaving Lee in shock.

Lee gazes at the pill, his desire to escape his misery still lingering, but his resolve strengthens as he thinks of his sister's welfare. "Inmate 9002, you have a visitor," the officer says, and Lee is whisked away.

His visitor turns out to be his sister, Sharon. They exchange pleasantries, but her responses are distant. Then, she brings out an IV that shatters Lee's fragile hope.

"I'm getting married." His heart soars with happiness until he sees the name of the man she's going to marry: Eden Chae.

"You must be joking, right?" Lee mumbles in disbelief.

"I'm marrying him. I just felt you had the right to know," Sharon says, her tone resolute.

"You're marrying him? Sharon, he's three years younger than you!" Lee's voice rises, considering Sharon is only 25.

"And so? We love each other," she claims, a hint of defiance in her voice.

"Love? That entire family are monsters. They're inhumane. He doesn't love you; he's taking advantage of you!" Lee yells again, his frustration boiling over.

Sharon's eyes well up with tears. "Do you know how I've lived my life since you were accused of raping an innocent girl and ended up in prison? I worked as a maid in the Chae house. I suffered alone, I got maltreated," she cries.

"Then why marry into that kind of family? You see what they are," Lee pleads.

"Eden stood beside me. He stopped them from maltreating me, and he gave me a chance to live a better life. I'm now the legal secretary in the firm. You know I'm a dropped-out law student, and Eden made all this possible,".

"It's all just a means of getting to you!" Lee shouts, his desperation reaching a breaking point and attracting the warden's attention.

"No, he loves me, and I love him too," Sharon insists, determined to defend her choices.

"I would rather die than see you marry her," Lee declares, his voice trembling with a mixture of anger and heartbreak.

"Then die. Please die. You're not alive to me anymore. It's better if you die!" she yells back, leaving him in the cold, dark room. Her words cut deep, echoing in Lee's head, making him question whether his existence has any purpose at all.

Back in his cell, as night falls and his cellmate is asleep, Lee retrieves the pill.

"Mike, I'm coming," he says, and with a heavy heart, he chews the pill. It takes some time before it starts to take effect. His heart begins to race, beating so fast that it feels like it would explode. Regret washes over him as he realizes that he fell for Mike's false promise of a painless death. The pain is excruciating, and he wishes for it to end quickly, caught in a desperate struggle between life and death.

Then, amidst the throes of pain, Lee hears a surprising DING!

"Who... is that? Where are you?" he groans, his voice shaky.

A mysterious voice echoes in his head, {I'm in your head. You've been given a chance to live and become a millionaire lawyer by solving cases and leveling up at the same time. Do you wish to sign up? Yes/no,}.

"I... I..." Lee stammers, his mind racing.
