Chapter: Chapter 151- Roots
Now, as Chase opened his eyes on the bridge of the Rusty Vulture, the atmosphere was heavy with the smell of damp earth and crushed mint. It was a thick, sweet fragrance that felt entirely too heavy for a city buried at the bottom of a sea of data.He sat up on his makeshift cot, his joints popping in a way that reminded him he was still more flesh than machine. Outside the viewport, the silver domes of the city were almost invisible beneath a sprawling canopy of emerald leaves. The vines had not just grown; they had claimed the architecture. They wrapped around the structural struts like muscular green pythons, their leaves pulsing with a soft amber light that mirrored the Phoenix core.Master, I have spent the last four hours trying to calibrate the air scrubbers, and I have come to the conclusion that biology is a very rude guest.Toby appeared at the top of the ladder, his goggles pushed so far up his forehead they were buried in his messy hair. He held a piece of copper piping t

Chapter: Chapter 150- First Sprout
The echoes of the gravity drives faded into a low hum that the city of Aethelgard seemed to absorb like a vast silver sponge. Chase stood in the center of the quartz plaza, his boots covered in the fine white dust of shattered logic and reclaimed history. He looked at the silver sphere in his hands. It felt heavier now, not because of its physical weight, but because of the thousands of eyes he felt watching from the shadows of the silver buildings. The citizens were no longer statues, but they were not quite fully awake either. They were people caught in the strange transition between a five century sleep and a reality where a miracle and a nightmare had collided at full speed. The amber light of the Phoenix core pulsed through the air, casting long and flickering shadows that danced against the Art Deco facades of the sleeping metropolis.Master the energy levels are behaving in ways that make my diagnostic slate want to burst into flames, Toby whispered as he approached. He was f

Chapter: Chapter 149- Crowns
The air inside the central plaza of Aethelgard was thick with the scent of waking life and ancient dust. Thousands of citizens stood in a daze, their silver robes shimmering under the new amber light of the Phoenix core. They were the ghosts of a golden age, blinking at a world that had moved on without them. But the silence of their awakening was shattered by the high pitched whine of gravity drives.Three ships descended through the jagged gap in the dome. They were sleek, predatory things, built of white obsidian and polished chrome that reflected the bioluminescent moss below. They bore the sigil of the High Isle, a stylized eye surrounded by geometric rays. These were not the scavenged vessels of the Scrap Barrens or the organic hybrids of the Rusty Vulture. These were the pristine relics of the Architects, maintained by a society that still believed in the absolute rule of the Symmetrical Law.Master, we have company and they do not look like they brought a cake, Toby whispere

Chapter: Chapter 148- Collector
The sound of the Leviathan was not a roar. It was the sound of a billion voices speaking at once and then suddenly being cut off. It was a digital stutter that vibrated through the soles of my boots and made the marrow of my bones feel like it was vibrating out of alignment. Outside the glass dome, the creature was a mountain of shifting obsidian symbols and violet lightning. It moved with a terrifying grace, its massive tail lashing through the thick static as if the pressure of the Sunless Sea meant nothing at all.Master the glass is singing the wrong note, Toby shouted, his voice cracking with a high pitch of pure terror. He was huddled over the primary terminal, his fingers dancing across the keys with a frantic energy. The cracks are not just physical. The static is rewriting the molecular structure of the dome. If we do not stabilize the resonance, the glass will turn into liquid data in less than three minutes.Chase, Sylvia called out, her Star Keel held low. She stood at th

Chapter: Chapter 147- Sunless Sanctuary
While the North was defined by the jagged obsidian of the Dead Range and the West by the whispering deserts of the Void, the South was simply... gone. It was a horizon of shifting, iridescent fog known as the Deep Sea of Static. It wasn't water, and it wasn't air. It was a graveyard of discarded information—a physicalized ocean of every "Delete" command ever issued by the Spires, compressed into a violet-grey sludge that could crush a standard scout ship into a cube in seconds."Master, I’ve done the math. Three times. I even used the abacus I found in the High Isle archives because I didn't trust my own slate. And the math says: No. Absolutely not. If we enter that density, the Phoenix-Wren will become the world's most expensive piece of underwater origami."Toby was currently hanging upside down from the Wren’s landing gear, frantically welding additional reinforcement plates onto the hull. The emerald vines we’d brought from the Vulture were already turning a sickly, pale lavender,

Chapter: Chapter 146- Archivist Grudge
"Master, the atmospheric pressure is doing something very strange to my ears. It feels like someone is trying to play a very tiny, very loud drum inside my skull."Toby was hunched over the auxiliary sensor array, his fingers twitching as he adjusted the frequencies. The green vines that we had lashed to the Wren’s hull were pulsing a deep, agitated emerald, their leaves shivering in the thin, high-altitude air."It’s not the pressure, Toby," I said, my hand tightening on the flight stick. "It’s the Isle. It’s broadcasting a 'Static Denial' field. It doesn't want the Spring to touch it.""It’s more than that," Lyra whispered, their silver form flickering like a candle in a draft. They were standing by the viewport, staring at the Isle's central spire. "I can hear the archives, Chase. They aren't silent. They’re... screaming. Not in pain, but in repetition. Someone is running a recursive loop through the entire historical database."Sylvia checked the tension on her Star Keel’s harness

Chapter: Chapter 16: Buying Supplies
The man also added: "Also, it's best to stay inside until dawn. Otherwise you might attract predators lurking outside."At that point, Liora thanked him and proceeded to walk away from his directions. Once she left, he gave me a friendly wave and continued walking. It leaves us pondering what predators does man mention about, as the village seems to be rather secure with a few guards walking down the area. We wanted to ask more but the man had already gone…Even if we're a bit confused, Liora decided to follow the man's advice as she doesn't want to get into trouble. Which I agree as well, because I do not think that Liora is in a condition to fight as she barely knows any spells. As she only could cast a fireball and a healing spell, with a fairly limited amount as well due to her mana reserve being small.Plus restocking our supplies is the primary goal here… as Liora needs the extra food and water to continue her training of learning magics.…As we reached the market, the place wa

Chapter: Chapter 15: The Village of Rynn
It's been a few weeks already and it seems like Liora has grasped a few basic fundamentals of casting a spell. She's still not able to cast anything too complicated, but she can at least use the simple spells that are common in most schools of magic—like healing or fireballs. While training her, I do notice that her healing and fire affinity seems to be much stronger than my own. It doesn't seem as if she is using any specific rituals for these abilities though; just standard magical practice should suffice? That might explain why she was so much more powerful the first she casted the fireballs spell at that vampire. And I have no doubt there will come a day when we'll be fighting for our lives, she will be able to protect herself and others around her. So far though, all this practice was also helping me get used to how different it feels from using magic as a Ring; even if you know what you're doing, your body doesn't always react accordingly because it's accustomed to something e

Chapter: Chapter 14: Mage Training
After a while, Liora finally found a place that was good enough for her to start practicing magic. The area was pretty vast and there's nothing that will happen even if Liora messed up some spell. It's better than the previous place that Liora suggested which was near the forest. There's no way I wanted Liora to practice magic there. It was not safe as there was a monster in the forest and what would happen if she failed to control the spell. As I was thinking of teaching her a fire-based spell. If Liora messed up, the whole forest might be consumed by fire and I don't want that to happen. This place was the perfect spot as there's nothing that will burnable things and it's close to a river. There's no nearby village of any sort and I think there's no dangerous monster around here.Even if there's a monster, it will be easily spotted as there's nothing that will obstruct our view. That also makes us quite visible as well but I think Liora could handle some low-level monster pretty fin

Chapter: Chapter 13: Saying Goodbye
"My village has been destroyed by vampires…"As the woman hears that, she looks surprised. "What! Vampires… I thought that creatures wouldn't do that as they hate to gain attention.""So you do not believe them… just like the guards.""It's kinda hard to believe what you're saying, Liora." The woman then puts her hand on Liora's shoulder as she continues to say, "But I trust you, you're not that kind of a girl that would tell lies...""Thank you… I am here to quit my job. I have to pursue the vampire and kill it for the sake of my village.""That I cannot do, you would be killed! Let the guards handle this problem…""The guards wouldn't do anything! I already told them and they all just laughed at me and said it wasn't real." Liora said that."Then, I would go there personally and smack the guards until they listen to you.""No need to do that. I already made up my mind as I would be the one to kill the vampires," Liora said with full determination."You would just die! You're powerle

Chapter: Chapter 12: Incredulous
Seeing that the captain also behaves like this. Liora didn't have much choice but to leave the barrack. Well, I would do the same thing as well. Guards in this town don't even seem to care at all."So, what's now? Straight to training…""No, I have some other things to do first. I wanted to quit my job at the tavern and then we would go to train.""Quit your jobs! Why?" I say that as Liora needed the gold to survive, if she quit her job, that would mean she wouldn't have any gold. Liora's cabin was burned down and all of her valuable stuff was gone, including gold."You asking why? So that I can dedicate myself to training and hunt the vampires down… If the guards don't want to help, I would be the one who was going to do it.""But how're you going to survive? Do you have enough gold left?""It's not much but I think I will manage it. Unless you also had to eat and drink like me, Arvon.""Okay, it's up to you then but there's still a problem… Which is where you're going to stay from n

Chapter: Chapter 11: Getting To Know
Liora left the mansion as there's nothing left there. The only thing we could find was the sapphire brooch. I did ask Liora whether she would sell the brooch for some gold. She answered that she wanted to keep the sapphire brooch for herself. It's for her to remind her of what had happened in this village. A keepsake item that Liora wanted to hold on with her.If that was what Liora chose to do, I guess I had no rights to ask her to sell. Besides, the sapphire brooch does have a sentimental value of its own, so I think it's better this way."Okay, what's next? Do you want to start your training right now…" I asked Liora that as she does need to train to become a mage."Let's hold the training first. We must report this to the town. The people in the town need to be aware that there's a vampire around the area. I do not want anyone to die again." Liora said that."You're right, Liora, we should tell the authority about the vampire."Our next destination was the town that was not far fr

Chapter: Chapter 7- Shattered Descent
The world tilted. That was the first thing I felt not the sound, but the sudden, sickening shift in my stomach as the stone floor beneath my boots just… gave up. The landing, that small slice of obsidian I thought was solid, groaned like a dying beast and snapped away from the tower wall."No!" I lunged forward, my fingers clawing at the frost-covered glass of the stairs above.I missed. My hands slapped against the cold, slick surface, and for a heartbeat, I was weightless. The air rushed past my ears, cold and sharp as a knife. Below me was an abyss of black shadows and the white, screaming faces of the remnants trapped in the walls.Clang! My chest slammed into a lower landing, knocking every bit of air out of my lungs. I rolled, my fingers catching the jagged edge of the stone. I hung there, swinging over the dark, my boots kicking at nothing but empty air. My ribs felt like they been kicked by a horse, and the silver mark on my hand was screaming, a white-hot needle of pain that

Chapter: Chapter 6- Southern Needle
The sun... if there even was a sun in this forsaken place didn't move. The sky stayed that same bruised, flat gray, making it impossible to tell if I’d been walking for hours or days. My legs ached with a deep, throbbing heat, but the rest of me felt cold.I was lost.I’d thought I was making progress, but Aldenora was a lie. I’d been walking through streets for miles, but all I saw was the same repetitive rot. Row after row of houses that must have belonged to the common folk. They were cramped, leaning against each other like tired old men, their roofs caved in and their windows staring at me like empty eye sockets. There were no grand palaces here. No golden gardens or ivory halls. Just a sea of shattered stone and gray dust that went on forever. If this was a kingdom of Gods, then the Gods lived in slums just like the rest of us."I haven't even moved an inch, have I?" I muttered, stopping to lean against a wall. The wall groaned. A layer of plaster peeled off and turned to mist b

Chapter: Chapter 5- Dust of Ages
The deeper I went, the more I realized that Aldenora wasn't just ruined. It was rotting.Every step I took on the white marble plaza sent a web of cracks shivering through the stone. This place looked like it was made of solid mountain, but it felt like it was made of dried ash. I reached out a hand to steady myself against a grand archway—the kind of thing that should’ve lasted ten thousand years—and my fingers just... sank into it. The stone turned to gray powder the moment I touched it, sliding through my grip like sand in an hourglass."Gods," I whispered, and even the vibration of my voice made a nearby decorative urn shatter into a million tiny pieces.I stood still, barely breathing. The silence was so thin here that I felt like if I sneezed, the whole street would come down on my head. This wasn't a kingdom anymore. It was a ghost of a kingdom, held together by nothing but habit and the lack of wind.I needed supplies. I needed a better blade than this rusted piece of scrap in

Chapter: Chapter 4- Silent Altar
The silence here was different. In the forest, the silence was like someone holding their hand over your mouth, trying to choke you. Here, inside the gates of Aldenora, the silence was like a heavy shroud. It felt old. So old that even the air felt like it hadn't been breathed in a thousand years.I stood just past the threshold of the white stone arch. My legs were shaking so bad I had to lean against a pillar. The pillar was cool, made of some kind of pale marble that had veins of gold running through it like frozen lightning.I looked back one last time.Beyond the gate, the mist was a wall of gray soup. I couldn't see the spiders anymore, but I could hear them. Thousands of little legs clicking against the stone, just inches away from where the white marble started. They wanted me. They wanted to wrap me up and suck the life out of me just like they did to Vax. Just like they did to Elian.Just like they were doing to Borg right now."Damn it," I whispered. My voice cracked and so

Chapter: Chapter 3- The Silk Trap
The "morning" didn’t bring no sun. It just turned the dark gray mist into a pale, sickly silver. We woke up with our clothes damp and our lungs feeling heavy, like we been breathing in wet wool all night."Move out," Borg grunted. He looked older today. The fire was nothing but cold ash now, and that warmth I felt in my chest last night? It was gone, replaced by a knot of stone. We walked for hours. The forest changed. The trees weren't just black anymore; they were covered in something white and fuzzy. It looked like mold at first. Then I saw it hanging from the branches in long, thin strands. It looked like the mist had finally gotten tired of floating and decided to sit down on the world."Static," Vax whispered. He was rubbing his arms. "The air feels... sticky. My skin is crawling.""It is the mana," Elian murmured, though he sounded like he was trying to convince himself. "Ancient ruins often leak raw energy. It sticks to the physical world. It is a good sign. We must be getting

Chapter: Chapter 2- Fire of Fools
The mist was not just a fog. It was like a mouth, and we were walking right down its throat.I didn't know how long we had been walking. In the Rofnar forest, time doesn't exist. The canopy of the black trees was so thick above us that it blocked out the sky completely. There was no sun to tell us if it was day, and no moon to tell us if it was night. There was only the green, sickly glow of the moss on the roots and the endless, swirling gray vapor. My boots felt heavy, like I was dragging a corpse with every step. The mud tried to eat us, pulling at our ankles with a wet squelch sound.I walked at the back of the group. It was safer there. Or maybe I just didn't want to look at the faces of the men I was going to die with.At the front was the big guy. He was huge, built like a fortress wall that learned how to walk. He had broken a thick branch off a dead tree and was using it like a club, smashing through the thorny vines. He didn't say a word, just grunted every time he swung his

The monster said that.I didn't care that much but for a moment, I had some idea in my mind that could make this a lot of fun."If you really would do anything, I do have a request and only if you agree to it, then I will set you free."Even before I stated my request, the monster quickly agreed with it. The beast didn't even know what he had put himself into. Still, I don't care as long I would have some enjoyment out of this.As I am a skeleton of my words, I break the monster free from its cage. I thought that the beast would betray me as soon as I break him open. But it seems that this monster honors my request."What do you want from me?" I was then caged into the same spot as these people kept the rest of the skeletons they had captured. I had just realised that I had some item that could be used for levelling up. I got a bunch of that exp stuff in my inventory and with that, I will be in max level in no time.Should I use God Exp or the Hero Exp, each item's name was different and it must lead to different effect while using it. At least that what I have been thinking in my head about these exp items. But it didn't take long for me to make up my mind, I ended up choosing the God Exp. God was much better than Hero and I guess it would make my level up to max much faster. Still, I could select the Hero Exp but I'm trying to see whether I could reach God Status using the God Exp.I then take out all of the Large God Exp and use it all at once. When I had used like 600 of the Large God Exp, there's a notification telling that it couldn't be used anymore.
