Prologue

A loud boom echoed all throughout the sky as if something had exploded within the earth's atmosphere, in just a few moments ring-like wave of white and black rays passed through the sky, raining down a similarly colored stardust for a few seconds.

The whole phenomenon was seen all throughout the world, as all of humanity had managed to witness the wondrous thing that had happened.

Suspicions, fear, and intrigue arose from a lot of people as each and everyone who saw the incident had their own theories and guest on what had occurred.

Newsfeeds suggested it was caused by an abrupt explosion of a large meteorite that entered the earth, conspiracy theorists suggest it was a new weapon being tested by a certain country, religious sect states it is the signal of the end of the world, and so on.

Yet for a few people, they felt it. The sudden surge of energy seemed to travel through their veins, rushing into their bodies and giving them a surge of power inside.

One such person was Chris Cruz, a thirty-four-year-old white-collar worker with an eight to five job. He was on his way home from work when it happened, on the moment that the stardust had covered him, he started hearing whispers of unknown words along with roars and screeches of ghastly things that he was sure was otherworldly.

Looking around he noticed that not everyone had seemed to have heard it as only a few people that were walking along the crowd had stopped to take notice, while others seem to have been mesmerized by the sparkly dust that was raining down from the sky.

A month had past and all of a sudden, countries began pointing fingers as to whom might have caused the phenomena since the epicenter of the explosion was located to have originated somewhere within the north pole.

Seeing as it had happened within the earth's stratosphere, people started diverging to the belief that it was man-made, caused by a malfunction of a new superweapon that was still being developed. Such a theory was not impossible, seeing as the world was currently in the midst of war as the tension between large countries was rising.

With no one admitting to the incident, it prompted the start of a skirmish between large allied countries, as leaders started becoming paranoid, not knowing the possible effects and consequences of the said happening. Each one seems to be bent on making the other side admit, wanting to find out and learn what weapon was being created.

A month longer and war finally broke loose, seeing as the effects of the whole incident were massive, managing to cover the entire world. That knowledge sparked a whole new frenzy of obsession and distrust among countries as earthquakes and certain natural disasters started occurring.

Though one other belief started emerging as fast as this, which was the beginning of the end of the world, seeing as the whole world seems to be experiencing the same ordeal.

Half a year later, people with superpower started appearing one by one, at first some showed feats of power during certain events, one such occasion was one man managing to lift a whole truck with his bare hands during a road accident, another such incident was during when a fire broke out due to a misguided missile, several people were saved by a man who had managed to move back and forth with the speed that was impossible for a normal human.

It didn’t take long before these so-called superhumans started aiding their country's armies, being recruited with the promise of wealth, position, and favors.

This was the beginning of the so-called super war, a conflict where each nation pitted their most powerful humans against one another, as one person was already capable to destroy a fleet of ships with just their strength and hands alone.

It was during this time that a ranking system started to emerge within the people who had powers, in order to rate their usefulness in the army at the same time this was also the beginning where others began using their own powers to take over their own countries, seizing power from those who they deemed lesser than them.

All the while the world was in chaos, as society started shifting once more and new governments started rising. Unknown landmasses started appearing unbeknownst to people, along with new kinds of animals and plants, but what was worst was wormholes would suddenly open up in secluded places, letting out shadowy creatures that dug deep underground. Hiding, waiting for the right time to come.
