Chapter 7: Engraving

After arriving back, he ate his dinner and lay in his bed. He developed this habit of sleeping whenever he can. It's when he got his comrades, he can sleep when one of them is guarding the rest to sleep.

Sleeping is as easy as taking candy from a baby, and he can also wake up whenever he wanted, the benefits of living within the chaotic dark age.

After waking up, Nysh freshened himself with his water magic before making his way out.

The first thing he did was of course, to start the mission.

He wanted to just teleport away, but he knew it's gonna be annoying if he does. "With peace comes a lot of restrictions..."

When it was chaotic, they could do whatever they pleased, but now, it's really different, in order for every being to be safe, they needed order, rules, and other things.

Before going out, he went to the adventurer's guild to take his adventurer's card.

As soon as he arrived, he noticed that the clerk is rather different.

[Irana

"Hello, I'm here to take my adventurer's card and also register the missions I've picked."

The clerk immediately nodded: "Name please."

"Ragus Nysh." He replied.

The clerk smiled with her eyes closed and nodded, she then searched for the card and took it. "Here's your adventurer's card."

After speaking, she took all the ten mission papers and logged it on: "Will you be accepting all of them?"

Nysh nodded his head: "Yes."

Irana nodded her head once more and smiled before handing the papers back: "The maximum day to complete a mission is one week, be sure to return it a day before then if feel like you won't be able to finish them."

Returning reports are actually frequent, especially to people that had a bit of commonsense, if the quest is too dangerous, most adventurers would return and give the mission back.

It's also one of the ways why missions also have the ability to rank up.

There are only two kinds of people that usually still proceeds when the mission is under-ranked, one is stupid, or the other, brave. On special occasions though, extremely skilled under-ranked adventurers finish them.

Nysh nodded his head, he needs to know more about this world's current system and find a wife.

[Find some wives, wives! -Nikikoi]

As he took all the missions back, he made his way out.

After five hours, the shift was about to change between the clerk, but it's rather special today as one of the most distinguished people of this branch arrived.

"Guild Master!" Irana bowed with a smile as she greeted.

"Un." He brought along his secretary which brought all of the papers.

Mryndok, the branch's guild leader spoke: "We'll be adjusting the difficulty of the missions now."

After a while, all of the missions were reposted, and the adventurers inside the tavern immediately pushed forward to check on the mission.

"Oh hell, why did they decrease the difficulty of the Rock Lizard quest!" A D-rank adventurer spoke.

Another D-ranked adventurer chimed in: "Yeah, I was farming them as well to get my rank promoted."

These adventurers were D-ranked safe players, they never take moderate or hard missions, and they want to safely rank up themselves.

For a D-ranked mission to degrade to E-rank is losing one of the ways for them to rank up safely.

Some rejoiced some were saddened, but all in all, there wasn't much difference, but something caught someone's attention.

"Wait, this quest is weird, the Goblin extermination quest had changed too much." He spoke with a grim tone.

Everyone also looked at it and felt that it was weird.

Myrndok nodded his head and explained: "It had changed because our scout had found some important information."

"First of all, it's not goblin a goblin hunting quest anymore, but as you've read, Goblin extermination quest."

"From F-rank, it turned into a three-star D-rank quest, now, we'll be destroying the whole goblin encampment."

Usually, in missions up to D-rank, there's not much disparity, but when special circumstances are involved, they would get a star rating, from 1 the weakest, to 10, the highest.

Each star meant higher rewards, also, depending on one's difficulty.

"Due to a few skirmishes with a group of adventurers, the ground trembled, and who could've expected that at the very spot where adventurers were pointed to go, is the actual base of the goblins." Myrndok smiled.

"It's also the reason why, no matter how many adventurers had tried to kill them, they were always outnumbered and usually just retreat, some even suffered injuries. Luckily, there aren't any casualties yet." He added.

Everyone nodded, extermination requests are quite popular since ordinary missions would need only need one individual or a party, extermination requests are different, five parties or more could participate depending on their difficulty.

But at this moment, Irana spoke: "Uhmn, guild master... I seem to have someone accepted the mission earlier..."

Myrndok looked at her with a serious expression before asking: "Which party was it?"

So long as they are an experienced party, they won't have any trouble escaping with only minor injuries, but if they aren't, then, it'll be a problem!

He was hoping for a good response, but Irana replied: "I-It's not a party, b-b-but an individual..."

Myrndok frowned: "Which one?"

If it's a high-level adventurer, it'll be alright, but...

This time as well, Irana's response failed him: "It's a new adventurer, Ragus Nysh, level 1, a novice."

"......................"

He then looked at Vernice: "You retrieve that boy, do not let him die."

Adventurers dying in missions are normal, but if the missions weren't fixed carefully, it'll be the branch's failure instead, and this will sully their reputation within the guild.

Vernice nodded and immediately get to change her uniform.

Meanwhile, Myrndok looked at everyone: "Within ten minutes, we'll be accepting applicants for this extermination request, only ten parties of at least 6 members will be included, we'll prioritize the strongest party from you bunch!"

"Yes!"

Everyone responded and even stopped drinking, extermination quests are two times or more difficult than normal missions, but the reward is also better.

Since it was but goblin extermination, their only fear is having higher grade monsters being involved.

Four and a half hours ago, Nysh was in front of a massive number of goblins.

"This..."  he looked at the goblins in front of him and looked at the mission card on his hand: "This is definitely not killing "ALL TEN" goblins, there are about a few hundred here and a few thousands underground..." He couldn't help looking at it with confusion.

"Do I kill all of them or do I kill only ten and return?" He asked himself, this is just weird.

He couldn't help but sigh, within a kilometer radius, these goblins are everywhere, and it seemed that their base is the mountain ahead.

He looked at his sword.

And couldn't help but look back at the goblins: "Will it be enough?"

[Goblin Lv. 2

He sighed to himself: "I wanted to train to be a swordsman since I like how awesome they looked when fighting, but why didn't I create a few swords as well, I would be happy to have something useful."

He doesn't have any swords, sabers, or any other kind of melee weapons, but he does have tons of materials stored within his inventory, he needs to craft some weapon later or, infusing some strengthening materials would do as well, but he felt a heartache doing it with this weak weapon.

He was tempted to engrave a high-grade gem in the weapon, but shook his head: "It'll be wasteful, I don't know when I'll find some more of them, but I'm sure it'll be a waste!"

He took out a grade 1 Crimson Ruby and a normal grade 1 ruby from his inventory.

[Ruby

It's too much of a difference. Still, he looked at his inventory and sighed: "It won't be that much if I just use one right?"

[Crimson Ruby

Grade: 1

Quantity: 91,884]

It was a gift from his dwarven friends, they left so many kinds of gems that he didn't even know what to do with them.

He looked at the end of his sword, there wasn't a hole, but the spot is quite nice.

He chanted some magic skill and immediately, the end was pierced by the wind, nice and clean that could easily engrave the gem in it.

After he placed the gem, he covered it with earth magic, he felt quite satisfied with his work.

Before, it was white in color but immediately became blue as soon as he engraved his gem.

"Noice." Nysh uttered as he looked at the sword completely satisfied, at the very least, it's better than a kitchen knife now.

He doesn't have any class, so he could probably only copy what his friend had been doing before.

He remembered that blow that Bihyoho had done before, he changed his pose the same.

His feet were separate quite widely while almost bent down, his left hand is touching the ground while his right hand carrying the sword is hovering over his shoulder, making the sword placed behind his neck to his left elbow.

He looked like a beast ready to pounce at its prey.

Nysh wanted to copy Bihyoho's expression, but it seemed rather eerie to do so.

So the next thing he did is just do the same motion.

He pounced at the trembling goblins and did a wide arch slash.

Immediately, 14 goblins were slain.

61!

68!

91!!

59!

A shower of damage floated above their head as their bodies vanished with thousands of blue light.
