Chapter 7: PART-TIME JOB

"According to Philippine history, Mt. Tataalwan was the original name of Taal Volcano. Its first eruption occured between 15th and 16th Century,” Sarah explained.

"You mean we are old grannies!?” Peach complained. “I can't bear to think about it! Besides, the effect of the sealing ritual did not wear off completely!"

"Stop complaining, Peach,” Joy admonished. “We are still teenagers at this time. and we still look normal, so don't worry! What's more important right now is how we can pay for our rent!"

"That is why we are looking for part-time jobs. But we already applied for 10 companies..." Sarah said.

"And we still have no luck!" Joy concluded.

"Maybe because my beauty is for modeling or acting! I should try to call for some famous producers!" Peach said, walking like a model. They had no classes today, so the triplets was using their free time to search for jobs.

Suddenly, Peach's phone rang. She answered it immediately.

"Hi, Hon! I'm with my sisters looking for part-time jobs... Bored? A DATE?! Sure, just text me where we will meet! Bye, Lo—Eh! He ended the call already?” Then Peach waved goodbye to her sisters.

"Sorry, Big Sisters! Boyfie calls. See you later!" She soon left.

"I think it's better if we apply in separate companies,” Sarah suggested.

Joy nodded. “Let's just meet later then.”

Joy applied in every company and establishment she saw, but no one was interested in hiring her.

"Always wait for their call or text. And some outright said they don't need part-timers. I didn't think looking for a job would be this hard,” Joy grumbled.

Meanwhile, Sarah was at the department store watching Kira arranged products at the shelves. But when she saw a big canned milk that was about to fall on Kira's head, she used her levitation power to stop it from falling and brought it back safely to its previous spot. She made sure that no one saw her, and that she controlled it properly.

A guard approached Sarah. “Miss! What are you doing there?”

Sarah stuttered, “Nothing, Sir! I just want to talk to my friend."

She didn't notice that Kira was already behind her.

“It’s okay, Manong Guard! She is my friend." Kira placed a hand on Sarah's shoulder.

"Kira!” Sarah said, blushing.

"I will have my break in a few minutes. Can you wait for me at the back?" Kira said to Sarah after the guard had left.

"Y-Yes!" Sarah replied.

She waited for Kira, and after 10 minutes, he came out of the back door. Kira was Joy’s best friend. He was a hardworking individual; after all, he was the only one who provided for his younger siblings. But after work, he would become cold and distant to other people. Unless it was Joy.

"Joy texted me. She asked me if I want to join in on your job hunting,” Kira said.

"But you already have a job,” Sarah said. “That’s why I want to talk to you. Do they have vacancies here?”

"They will start hiring again next week because many will finish their contracts, including me,” Kira replied.

Sarah didn't want to apply there anymore if Kira was not there too.

Peach waited for 2 hours at the park before she received a text from her boyfriend.

I’m sorry, Hon. We have a family emergency so I can't go there anymore.

"Why do you always do this to me," Peach screamed.

When all the people nearby stared at her, she apologized and walked away with no direction in mind. Suddenly, she heard Khay's voice.

"Bros, I don't have money left in my pocket. Let me go home and I will get some!” Khay chuckled nervously.

“You can't trick us! If you don't have money then will just take your motorbike!" a man said.

“That's right! Give us the key!" another one added.

Khay is in trouble! I need to help him! Peach put on her jacket and covered her mouth with a handkerchief before she stepped into the scene.

"Let him go, freaks,” Peach said in a different voice. The thieves just laughed at her.

"What are you, another thief?" the first said.

The second one winked at her. “Why don’t you join us? We can have fun later!"

"You leave me no choice, then!" Peach said. She used her super speed and ran around the men until they got dizzy. She threw kicks and punches before slamming their heads together.

"Ow!" One of them moaned, holding his head.

"Let’s run, bro,” the other said, freaking out. Then they ran as fast as they could.

"Scaredy cats,” Khay shouted at the retreating thieves. “Don’t ever come back here again!”

Then she hid before Khay could see her.

"Eh? Where did my Super Girl go? I need to thank her!" Khay said while scratching the back of his head.

I don’t think it's a good idea to look for a job here. It is already 3 rides away from home, Joy thoughg while walking along a street by the city’s outskirts.

She was about to go back when she saw an old lady trying to lift some heavy boxes.

"Let me carry them... Ahm!?" She said, offering her help.

The old lady smiled. “Just call me Nanay Mercy, and thank you so much for your kind offer!"

Joy lifted three heavy boxes at once. But she forgot that her power was back, so the boxes flew into the air. Luckily, the old lady was walking to the other side of the road so she didn't see what happened. But the owner of the house where they were going saw it.

"May I ask what are you doing at the edge of the city?" Nanay Mercy asked.

"I was looking for a part-time job,” Joy replied while pretending that the boxes were heavy.
