Chapter 9

Lucian awoke early as usual . He preferred to do his morning workout in his room; however he changed his mind and stormed out of the room. He dashed in and out of the bathroom in a jiffy. Did a little workout a bit and dress up immediately. He barged out of his room in hesitation.

He can't wait to hear the news; perhaps it has anything to do with his reason for being here.

Dashing through the staircase he headed straight to the parlor.

"Where are you running off to, my boy?"

"Do you think there's a problem?" When he met up with his grandma in the parlor, she reprimanded him for his rash behavior.

"Nothing, mama; I'm just going to see Synder." He stepped out of the house after receiving that response.

Lucian walked along the alleyway, passing by a diverse group of people going about their daily routines.

Lucian didn't bother getting into a car because his friend's house was only few blocks away.

Ever since he came out of his trance, he has been walking really quickly. During the time that he was distracted by a passer by dress, Lucian unexpectedly connected with soft skin as he paced. Two buns smashed against his chest at that very instant. It was a lovely sensation, but it didn't last long because the figure in front of him was knocked over and falling to the ground.

Lucian swiftly clasped the girl's hand, which was smooth and silky. He lifted her up to see her face for the first time.

She was very attractive; not only was her face stunningly beautiful and innocent, but she also had flawless skin and a slim figure. Despite the fact that Lucian has seen his fair share of beautiful women since he arrive back to earth, this is the first time he has set his sights on one beautiful figure like this.

Her soft voice invaded his ears and said, "Please, gentleman, let go of me."

After realizing that he had been impolitely steering at her in a stupor, Lucian instantly let go. The girl reddened slightly once he let go of her, and she avoided making eye contact with him.

"I apologize for the oversight." He instantly confessed his mistake.

She sweetly said, "no need to apologize to me mister, you should check where you are going next time," before moving past him.

As she walked, lucian kept an eye on her back profile. Slowly, he returned to his previous activity. Striding fast, but with greater caution this time to avoid what happened earlier.

He appeared in front of his buddy's house in less than ten minutes.

A familiar view arrived in front of him, a raw of cushion chair and tables with Synder sited, it was just as he left it the day before.

When he turned around, he saw Synder sitting in his favorite location.

"You've arrived at long last, buddy?" After Lucian arrived on the scene, Synder said.

"So, what's on the menu?" After escorting Lucian inside, Lucian struck up a conversation with him.

"Have you heard of the space dimensional breach that leads to a planet that resembles the dark universe exactly?" Synder posed a question to Lucian.

" yes I did just before I went to sleep last night, the scientist gave me a briefing." Lucian sprang out naturally, attempting to appear unmoved as much as possible.

The warning bell rang out, "Creak creak." It was the scientist when Synder got there. Good morning mister Synder. I apologize for my manners yesterday"

"Good morning. You don't have to apologize.

When the scientist enters, he immediately began briefing them on his results in great detail.

" So, here's something that few people knows about, and we're going to keep it as private as possible. This is really highly classified information."Governments from throughout the world joined forces to invest in exploration. They figured out that there are a lot of powerful beings in that world who constitute a big threat to the entire earth, but lucky for the earth, those beings have not yet learned about the space crack."

“what? Lucian exclaimed, a stunned expression on his face despite the fact that he was not surprised. Earlier in his studies, he had theorized about this. The only thing he doesn't know is the actual reason for this phenomenon.

The scientist persists in his argument, oblivious of Lucian or Synder's genuine feelings.

"Since the powerful beings were discovered seven years ago, the world's governments have created a special body that sends in unit after unit of squads whose mission is to defend the crack and ensure it remains concealed from the eyes of the powerful beings from beyond."

"Everyone like you who has lived in a world similar to this world is being sorted after by the body due to your acquaintance with the Dark web universe's environment,"

"I got a call from this body this morning, and the higher-ups explicitly ordered me to bring you in for this reason." So, what do you think it will be? "Do you want to know more?"

Lucian became deafeningly quiet. Even if one were to look closely at his face, no one except he would be able to tell what he was thinking. No one knew he was overjoyed when he received the invitation, but he retained his composure.

Lucian is really pleased to visit that world because it is one that resembles his own. Men learn how to survive only by fighting and engaging in battles in a world where magical powers exist and men learn how to survive only by fighting and engaging in conflicts.

Synder remained silent after Lucian became silent, instead patiently awaiting Lucian's decision.

"Give me two days to consider it." Lucian

finally uttered

"All right, bud, whatever you decide, I'm going to get you." Let's take a break from serious business now and eat something.

Afterwards, the two were left by the scientist they spend the day together, doing their favorite activities.

.................

The hours, minutes, and seconds ticked away until it was eventually two days. It's time for Lucian to declare his intention to join the mission to the world beyond the spatial crack in space.

Lucian first told his friend Synder about his wish to join the trip, who told him what to do, and then he told his grandmother, who was adamantly opposed to his idea. As she tried to persuade him not to join the trip, she stood in front of the exit and blocked his path. "No, you can't do this to me; you can't take that risky adventure."

"You'll be secure with me here, if something happens to you. I won't allow that to happen" She insisted.

"grandma? Listen to me: you can't keep me safe indefinitely, no matter how hard you try. I can't hide in here all the time like a coward. Do you believe I'll be able to live a regular life under the watchful eyes of those who are fighting for the world's survival? , how do you know that simply because I hid in here, I'm safe from everything? , even if you tried to keep it hidden from me, Do you think I'm unaware that we're constantly being watched by governments in secret?." Lucian countered her objection with his own logic.

"Can you imagine how I felt when I believed I'd lost you?"

"Can you imagine what it's like to have no one to call family for three years?"

" Lucian, you're not going to abandon me for the second time; I'm not going to let you." "Those three years have been difficult enough."

"What did I do to deserve this, God?" Wuuuuuuu!!”. His grandmother grabbed him tightly and began crying, making Lucian feel awful about his decision, but he couldn't stop himself; he had to go there no matter what.

Lucian hugged her back and consoled her softly, unable to bear seeing her like this.

"I'm sorry, granny, but I have to go there; the planet is in jeopardy because of that fissure that connects to that realm." The world's governments will never allow me to survive.

I'm at ease knowing I'm comfortable with that strange world. Furthermore, I will never be able to live with myself if I stand here and do nothing.

"I know I won't be able to stop you from going." You're an adult now, and you can make your own choices, but you must honor your word." After five minutes of pleading, his grandmother groaned regretfully and finally yielded.

Lucian waddled out of the house a few minutes later and boarded a flying car under the careful eye of his tearful granny.

"Please return safely to your house, my boy." Her hands clamped her chest as she murmured under her breath.

When Lucian entered the flying car, he heard a mechanic say, "requesting passengers destination."

"Acquired destination, departing in 3..., 2..., 1...."

Following the countdown, the car shot into the air at a high rate.

An hour later, the flying automobile appeared in front of a seven-hundred-meter-high skyscraper that was adorned with luminous, clear glasses that reflected the dazzling sunlight.

The flying car came to a standstill and gradually fell to the earth before the door automatically opened for Lucian to exit.

Lucian took a gentle step out of the truck and looked around. A group of a dozen people, all dressed in black, formed a line in front of a short, fat man in a blue uniform who addressed them.

"These must be the people who signed up for the expedition," Lucian mumbled

Lucian noticed roughly fifty security officers distributed over the perimeter, each armed with sophisticated weaponry and surrounded by video cameras that monitored every area of the facility.

Lucian pondered, taken aback by the company's metamorphosis. After scanning each person's faces with a face scanner to authenticate their identities, the plump man will let them into the company. It didn't take long for the process to be completed. Each

person just took a fraction of a second.

Lucian took up the cue and followed the line. After a brief inspection, the individuals were allowed to enter one by one. Only a few people were denied admittance. It was now Lucian's turn. Before calling out his full name and inviting him in, the man analyzes his face for a second.

A soft skin clashed behind Lucian just as he walked into the building.

Lucian glanced around, startled, to see who had collided with him. As he spotted the person who had knocked into his back, his eyes opened in a joyful surprise. It was the same girl he had nearly knocked down few days before.

Lucian smiled as he continued, "oh, we meet again, miss."

"I'm sorry, I didn't intend to...," she says. As a scarlet color appeared on her cheeks, the girl sheepishly cried out.

She had warned him to check where he was going so he wouldn't pump into people the last time they met, but now she was the one who had disobeyed her advice. She felt so ashamed that she wanted to crawl into a hole and hide. She quickly diverted her attention from him, staring below, out of embarrassment.

"Don't worry, it's not your fault; it's destiny's fault that we always run into one other when we meet, so there's no need to feel bad about it." Lucian tried to relax her, recalling why she had become so agitated.

"Alright,... Thanks," she said meekly as she exchanged glances with him.

"OK, I assume we're no longer strangers now that fate has brought us together for the second time?"

“right.”

"Since you agree, how about we wrap things off by introducing ourselves?" "I'm Lucian, and how about you?" Lucian was sworn in as he extended his hand for a handshake.

“Mary” She responded with a shy blink.

She closed her eyes and grabbed his hand in hers. Lucian was enthralled by the soft feel of her hand for a little moment before snapping out of it and asking. "From now on, miss Mary, we aren't strangers." So, where were you hurrying to?."

"I have a meeting scheduled with someone."

"Do you have a meeting?" It appears that you have not come to join the adventure. "Who is the lucky one?"

"I... I have to go now, I'm running late," she says. Mary took a step forward after asserting herself.

Lucian stood there watching as she walked away, unaccustomed to the way he acts whenever he sees her. It was an unfathomable yearning that compelled him to want to be near her.

This has never occurred to him before, since he has always spurned the gorgeous young girls that flocked to him. Perhaps it was only because of the splendor he had experienced in the past, but not now.
