CHAPTER 26 UNSEEN ADVANTAGE

PAIN.

Vandread was in a position where he should have been experiencing excruciating pain, but due to the circumstances of his situation, he was unable to feel anything at all. The most recent assault from the sentinel had left him with severe wounds, including a deep hole in the middle of his chest and a long slashing wound that ran along the length of his back.

“Get up, Vandread. "Are you really that badly beaten up so quickly?" the sentinel questioned. After failing to elicit a response from Vandread, he eventually kicked Vandread in the head in an effort to regain consciousness.

When the sentinel saw that Vandread's body was unresponsive, he felt a sense of disappointment. Even though the sentinel hadn't even begun to show any signs of wear, Vandread had already succumbed to his wounds. A situation of this kind only served to increase the sentinel's contempt for Vandread's frailty.
