Ch 8: The Voting End

A stranger had made their way into the meeting that was going on between the queen and her people around the throne outside of the forest they live in.

“Do tell me how you can help with what we are discussing without the knowledge of what it is about.”

“I don’t need to be informed about it, given that I can sense when it happens I can feel it even more so since being here.”

“I think it best now to explain who you are at this moment.”

“Ah, you are correct on that, I should introduce myself to all of you.”

The stranger grabbed the hood covering his face and pulled it down to show them his silky, wavy, royal purple hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a tangled bush.

His eyes were droopy red and the type of body he had was a graceful build along with light-colored skin.

“The names Collin Wyatt and I are what is known to be in this world a Dragonling, a being with the mix of a human and a dragon.”

The reaction this man expected to see among the wood elves' faces was shock, but instead, they show none like this wasn’t new to them.

“A Dragonling you say what business does a being as you have here.”

“As I have said, the sensing feeling that is very much close around here isn’t normal, I can tell somehow a dragon soul has entered a person's body in this home of your people.”

“My son Ethons has a dragon soul inside him.”

Utebarr finally speaks, getting up and walking up to Collin.

“How old is your son?”

“He is only 5 years old.”

Hearing the answer from the elf man causes Collin to feel sorry for the boy for having this happen at such a young age.

He understands the nature of a dragon having that blood flow through him and the times releasing such actions in the past.

“Tell me please, how can you help, is there a way to remove the soul from him?”

“I am sorry, I didn't mean to give you false hope like that, no I don’t know that. My way to help is to take the boy with me and help him learn to control his new life.”

“Is that the only way there is no greater solution?”

“The other way my friend is for the boy to die as soon as possible and trust me there is no way for that to happen.”

Utebarr hates it, but this man before him was right. It was best for the boy to go with this person at least he was still alive.

It would pain his family to have to let go of their brother and son to where they will never meet again.

“That decision is up to us to make tonight, Collin.” The queen tells him.

“There's no reason to go on with this. You could let me take the boy and be done like this, no need for an innocent life to be taken out.”

“Being a dragonling, I am sure you were already taught about the history of the beings known to be called  curse Dragonborn.”

“Yes I do and those times were horrible of course yet it ended with those using the power for their evil desires a long time ago. Now that it is repeating after time passes, I think this is a chance to bring the good out of it by giving this elf boy the opportunity to be different and let not the past.”

The queen moves her eyes to meet with Utebarr as he does the same.

“Utebarr I seek no ill way towards your son and would love nothing more than for him to live, but this is not about keeping our people safe, the world too must be kept in mind as well.”

“Yes, my queen, I understand.”

Collin grabs Utebarr's arm as he was walking toward the center and talks to him in a low voice.

“So is it just going to follow whatever your people decide the life-threatening fate of your son.”

“You don’t understand how our people handle things and whatever you say isn’t going to make me listen over my kin.”

Utebarr pushes off the man's hand and resumes walking to stand at the center while Collin shanks his head.

“My queen and my friends, I have no words that can out of me to be said in a way to make you change your minds to allow my son to live. I leave it in your hands and accept whatever the outcome will be.”

After that was said Utebarr closed his eyes and bowed before the queen as she understood it was time to start.

“Say your vote does the boy Ethons lives or die.”

Each wood elf takes their turn to vote when their queen requests it and at the end of the voting the number was high for Ethons to die, only a small few pick for him to live.

“So it is decided I am sadly sorry Utebarr, you know what must be done now.”

“I understand my queen.” Utebarr turns around and walks his way out passing by Collin as the two don’t look each other in the eyes.

“Collin was your name, you are welcome to stay this night as a guest, but tomorrow you have to leave.”

“No need, I don't plan on staying anyway, not tonight when you're about to kill one of your own.”

He says his peace taking leave while one of the wood elves walks and moves up to the side of their queen.

“My queen should we follow this person to watch out for anything he might try when leaving.”

“There isn’t a need for that because he doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything more than just leaving.”

“If you wish, but what about Utebarr, should we make sure that he does what is needed with the boy?”

The queen thinks about it for a time until an answer comes out of her mouth.

“Send some to make sure it is done so there can be any mistakes.”

《Utebarr and Adraah home》

Adraah was beside her son Ethons holding his hand while praying inside herself for the best for the boy.

“Oh….. what happened ….. Am I home.” he then starts to awake, opening his eyes.

“Ethons! You finally awake, I am so happy.”

Out of nowhere feeling his mother hug him tightly with tears coming down her face.

Ethons was having a hard time finding out what was going on and the reason she was acting this way.

At the sound of the room door opening, she looked back to see who it could be none other than her husband.

“Utebarr what have they said.” The question was asked by Adraah and the answer was already told by the look on this elf man's face.

“No, they can’t….. I mean…. It's not right that he didn't do anything to have this happen.”

“I am sorry Adraah, it has to be done, the queen has commanded it.”
