Chapter one

Aiden trudged down the sidewalk with heavy feet and a sour mood. He couldn't shake off the feeling of being trapped inside his office all day, and he longed for fresh air and sunlight.

As he walked, Aiden noticed the sounds and sights around him - the honking of cars, the chatter of people, and the neon signs of shops and restaurants. But everything seemed dull and uninteresting to him. He couldn't muster any excitement for the city that he normally loved.

Aiden arrived at his girlfriend's house, he met her at the front door discussing with other girls he waved at, and headed inside with a heavy sigh. She excused herself from the midst of her friend and approached Aiden with a warm smile collecting his black office bag, even though Aiden couldn't return the smile, she didn't seem to care– It wasn't like she didn't know what condition he was in but she wasn't the consoling type–

"Hey baby, do you mind if I talked to you about something?"

"Huh?"

Amby was a bit puzzled because the tone of Aiden's voice sounded so different compared to his demeanor as he arrived earlier.

"You know you can always talk to me about anything."

She stated kissing his cheek as she sat next to him.

"I was wondering if you could borrow me a certain amount of money."

Aiden said with an awkward smile as he noticed Amby’s countenance switch in the instance he mentioned money.

She folded her arms.

"How much are we talking about?"

"$500"

"For?"

"Come on Amby, don't you know my grandmother is in the hospital? I need to complete her hospital bills."

"Oh..."

"Oh?"

Aiden repeated her uncaring exclamation. He was about to lash out again at her but heaved a heavy sigh and pleaded with her more.

"I need to pay a total of $5,500. I know you can help me with the last $500."

Amby’s eyes widened immediately.

"You have 5000?"

"Yes..."

"

'This prick and I have been disturbing you for the designer bags I want to get this month.'

Contrary to the ill thought she carried toward her boyfriend she let out a soothing smile.

"Don't worry, we can talk about it over dinner."

"I am still going to the hospital today though, I have to deposit the money as soon as possible."

"That is fine, just eat first, you must be tired from work.

Aiden was familiar with this gesture of hers. It was her play anytime she wanted to ask for something but seeing as he was the one asking for something this time, he thought...

'Maybe she's being nice. Just like the old days.'

He was finally able to let out a soft and subtle smile as he watched her hurry to the kitchen and began to set the dining table.

Respecting her sudden change, he rolled up his sleeves and helped her on doing so, the two shared a loving moment of laugh prompting Aiden to want to forget all his sorrows and just stay here forever.

Faced with a pasta dish with steak. Aiden immediately began to enjoy his meal, occasionally taking bites of her food and complimenting her flawless cooking.

Surely Amby was a wife material.

'...if only I wasn't poor.'

He thought to himself and pondered on his ability to keep such an expensive and beautiful woman like her.

After finishing their main course, they decide to share a dessert – a decadent chocolate cake that they split between the two of them while they continue chatting.

Before the next minute, Amby could be seen seated on Aiden's leg and slowly kissing his lips.

"Babe, I might have to leave soon."

"Come on, it's been a while since you visited you can always go when we are done."

She said sinuously, unbuttoning his shirt while burying an irresistible tongue kiss into his mouth. Aiden unable to put up a worthy fight of resistance succumbed to her wrapping his hands on her petite as and with all his manly vigor lifted her and made his way to her bedroom.

...

"Ah shit, I overslept!"

Aiden mumbled as he slowly opened his eyes, he didn't have sex frequently because he was always busy– although the fact that Amby only offers it to him when he was able to buy her a particular thing she asked for had a lot of roles to play in his starvation for sex. However thanks to that starvation he was able to rile her stronger than before forcing her to experience the plane of ecstasy that all women longed to reach.

'It truly was a worthy experience'

Aiden nodded with the confidence of approval as the scenes replayed in his head. He took a last look at his girlfriend who was sound asleep before standing up to be on his way.

It was very early in the morning but Aiden did not mind. The hospital never closes anyways so there was no difference between going during the day, at the night, or even at the midnight.

"Welcome sir"

The nose greeted him as he entered the E.R. She was seated behind a high platform and with a smart computer before her.

"I'd like to make a payment."

"You'd have to return tomorrow or at least during the day."

The nurse replied to him.

"Why? Why can't I just make the payment today?"

He shrugged with a puzzled and impatient face.

"Don't come at me like that sir, it is the hospital rules for accountability. Payment has to be made during the day and as you can see we are busy."

Aiden looked back to observe the number of emergency patients, he shifted his gaze back to the nurse with disbelief.

"You call this busy?"

'The patients are not even that much.'

"Whatever... Come back during the day to make your payment and you will be responded to. The hospital rules do not permit us to accept payment in late hours or early hours, only during working hours which are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. And I advise you to get the money in cash as you are coming."

Aiden sighed, "Cash?"

"Yes sir" The nurse replied to him with a firm tone, putting on a face that made it clear she didn't want to be disturbed.

There was nothing more he could do at this point so he decided to go to his grandmother's hospital room and spend rest there while the day fully sets.

***

Aiden's heart pounded as he walked through the revolving doors of the bank. He clutched his worn wallet tightly in his hand, and his mind wouldn't stop wavering over his grandmother that lay in the hospital bed, her frail body ravaged by illness, and Aiden had to act fast, or else the hospital would kick her out of her and he would have to find another hospital.

Finding another hospital was not the issue but Revenmar hospital was the best in the country. If there is anyone that can save his grandmother's life, it was them.

He walked up to the teller's window, his eyes flickering nervously over the other customers in line. He gave her filled in some check information and awaited the teller's response. To be particular, he was waiting for the money to come out.

But contrary to what he was expecting. "I'm sorry sir, but there's no money in your account." Aiden's heart sank as he heard the teller's words.
