Chapter 14

Lucas and Aslaug reached another house in the city. Lucas didn't want to make his parents aware of the existence of Aslaug and his other identity so he took her to another house he owns. He had changed into civilian attire before he came to the city but made sure that none would recognise him.

He reached the house and entered it with Aslaug following him. He has given her a cloak to wear so that people won't see her face. The cloak was also ragged to make it seem like she is poor.

"Finally I can get rid of this thing." Aslaug said as she threw away the cloak.

"You don't have to act like that for a cloak." Lucas said to her.

"Hmph, making someone of my status wear something like that would be more than enough to warrant punishment." Aslaug said with a glare.

"Maybe, but I don't have time for that. I have to return to my home so that my parents don't get suspicious." Lucas said to her.

"Whatever. So what am I supposed to do?" Aslaug asked him with a frown.

"You must stay here in this house until I come back. The last thing I want is for you to announce your status to the people of the kingdom." Lucas said to her.

"But why would it be a bad thing? Wouldn't the kingdom be rejoicing at having one such as myself on their side. Moreover the ones from the enemy kingdom will become afraid." Aslaug said haughtily.

"That may be so but that doesn't mean that the enemy kingdom will back down. If they hear that there is a demigoddess in the enemy kingdom they will bolster their forces and the people of this kingdom might become overconfident. Then there is also politics which I would rather not discuss." Lucas said to her.

"Tch, you mortals always makes things too complicated." Aslaug said as she is clearly displeased.

"Maybe, but mind I remind you that you're still a demigoddess and not a full God and you lost to me in battle so I suggest you have a bit more humility." Lucas said to her.

"Why you! Mind your manners!" Aslaug shouted at him.

Lucas just raised an eyebrow at her before a thought came to his mind.

"By the way, how old are you?" Lucas asked her.

"Why do you want to know?" Aslaug asked him.

"Just curious." Lucas said to which he got a state from Aslaug.

"I'm 16 years old." Aslaug said smugly at him.

Lucas just heard her answer and nodded to her which frankly wasn't the reaction she was hoping for. She had thought that he would be surprised at hearing that.

"Wait! Why aren't you surprised?" Aslaug asked surprised.

"Because I myself am 17 years old and quite strong so it's not that hard to believe. Now, I think our conversation has gone far enough, I need to get back to my home as well. You will find a good amount of food here so you don't have to go out. Stay here. You will be able to show your skills after 5 days in the war." Lucas said to her.

"Fine I suppose I can wait." Aslaug said as she looked around the room.

"Good, then I hope you have a nice stay I will make sure to come meet you everyday." Lucas said to her before she teleported away surprising her.

"I need to get used to that." Aslaug muttered to herself when she saw it.

And just like that four days passed away as the two kingdoms came closer to the day of war. The common folk at the edge of the kingdoms had already moved away to not be caught in the war. Both the kingdoms had also made camps near the border as they got ready for war.

Lucas had also been preparing in the meantime. He made some final arrangements with the merchant about the market and the supplies which the merchant had managed to sell was quite profitable for them. Lucas had also made sure to check on Aslaug everyday to make sure that she was behaving.

One more day was left before the war started so Lucas had to go to the war area as he was getting ready to go from his house. And while Lucas could easily get there using his magic he didn't want to reveal it to others so he decided to go by carriage.

"Be careful my son." Agnes said to him as she hugged him worried.

"Yes mom, I'll be careful." Lucas said to her as he hugged him back.

The two stayed like that for a few more seconds before they let go of each other. Lucas then turned to his father Leif as they looked at each other.

"Be always vigilant and bring glory to our name and yours." Leif said to his son.

"I will father." Lucas said to him.

Leif smiled at this and then hugged his son with him doing the same with the man. They hugged each other and then let go and smiled at each other while Agnes watched it with a smile on her face.

"My son, I have also placed our family armor in the luggage. Make sure to wear it." Leif said to him.

"What? But what about you father?" Lucas asked surprised.

"I will be fine. It is you who needs the armor more than me. Make sure to take good care of it my son." Leif said to him.

"Of course father. I won't fail you." Lucas said after a few seconds.

After that Lucas climbed on the carriage and made his way to the camp. It took him about 3 hours to reach the place since the driver made sure to get there much faster. He exited his carriage and found that the camp was filled with many soldiers and he could find some nobleman among them as well.

He didn't pay them any mind however as he made his way to his tent with the luggage of his family armor. His tent was quite extravagant due to his status but he didn't dwell on it as he didn't care about it. He knew that in war her had to always be alert and that's what he will do.

The armor was without a doubt a piece of art as it is primarily black with silver outlines. The runes were carved under the armor so the enemies don't know the enchantments put on it. He wore the armor over his thin black dress. There were armor on his legs which reached his knees, on his forearms, shoulder, breastplate and back. His thighs were covered in chainmail which allowed more movement. The collar of the armor also had a muffler type thing going around it. The Larsen clan symbol was also presented at the top of the breastplate.

Lucas looked at himself in the mirror which was also present in the tent before nodding to himself and exited his tent. He was then greeted by the sight of two knights guarding his tent. They informed him that he is to report to the commander's tent so he complies and goes to it. The other knights greet him when they see him to which he nodded to them.

He then reached the tent and the knights stationed there allowed him entry as he entered the tent but he was surprised when he recognised one of the occupants in the tent as he looked at the person surprised.

"Princess Olivia?" Lucas said surprised.
