Beowulf's first reaction to the appearance of Bollo was to attack him. He did that on impulse. His instinct sensed danger. His beast sense tickled really harder than usual. He knows having a premarital is against the culture of the land he was brought up in, but still, he does it because it's fun. Also, what's fun about having youthful days without disobeying the law. But he has just gone overboard.
