Chapter 8:Sickness

After Cho Byeol learned how to capture the pond beasts, they started capturing even more pond beasts. This went on for two to three hours. Every pond had a limited number of beasts. And every fish type beast was different from other fish type beasts.

"Tell me, how many years has it been since you've been eating them?" Cho Byeol thought of something and asked Yang Zhai.

"Since the time I arrived at this place," Yang Zhai answered.

"So, don't you get bored?" Cho Byeol was surprised when she heard what Yang Zhai said. How could someone eat the same thing for so long?

"I'm already used to it, and didn't I tell you that every fish tastes different from the other. Some have the taste of fruits, some have the taste of meat while some have different kinds of tastes. That's why I don't mind eating them," Yang Zhai replied.

Cho Byeol nodded when she heard this, but she still wasn't convinced, even if they had different tastes, they were still the same thing. She was just about to say something when she heard Yang Zhai,

"Wait, I hear some voices. From their voices I think they're wolves," Yang Zhai said to Cho Byeol with a serious expression.

"How many?" Cho Byeol asked with a nervous expression. She thought that their luck was really terrible recently, last night they encountered Rank 4 Green Wind wolves and now there were even more.

"Two, wait I think there are more than two. There should be…." Yang Zhai suddenly stopped talking and his expression turned grave. He was in a daze. He felt like he was dreaming.

"What happened? tell me quickly," when Cho Byeol saw Yang Zhai's expression she knew that something was wrong and asked,

"Quickly, jump into the pond and hide" Yang Zhai was jolted awake when he heard Cho Byeol, and hurriedly said.

She was confused about what was happening.

Yang Zhai saw Cho Byeol's confused expression, he grabbed Cho Byeol from her hand and jumped into the pond together.

After one minute or so, Cho Byeol heard some noises, they were the footsteps of the beasts. After hearing them, her expression turned to fear, now she knew why Yang Zhai had asked her to jump into the pond. She didn't dare to move from the fear of attracting the attention of the wolves.

They kept hearing footsteps for some time. After making sure that the noises disappeared in the horizon, they jumped out of the pond.

"What happened? Why were there so many Green wind wolves?" Yang Zhai muttered to himself while contemplating something.

"What happened just now, didn't you say that this place was safe?" Cho Byeol asked Yang Zhai, there was still some fear on her face. If Yang Zhai hadn't discovered the wolves, they would most likely be dead by now.

"I don't know what happened to them, even I'm confused right now. This place is usually safe because of the scent of the trees and ponds. This scent is unbearable to the high-level beasts. And in this area of the forest, there weren't supposed to be any Rank four or Rank three beasts, let alone a whole pack," Yang Zhai said while thinking. How could there be an entire pack of wolves here?

"What should we do now then?" Cho Byeol asked nervously.

"Now I know why the two Green wind wolves appeared last night, even though that place is safe. I think there's something wrong here, we shouldn't stay here anymore. It is dangerous to stay here anymore." Yang Zhai said to Cho Byeol seriously.

"Yeah, I think so as well," Cho Byeol said while looking in the direction where Green wind wolves disappeared.

After deciding what to do now, they didn't dare to stay here any longer, and they had also collected and stored enough food. They went back to the cave. While returning, they saw many wolves on the way. They hid every time they saw them, even if it was just one Rank 3 Green wind wolf. This was because the commotion of the fight would attract the attention of the other wolves and if they got injured, it would be even worse for them. That's why they avoided the fighting and hid every time they saw even a single wolf. Because of this, it took them longer than usual to reach the cave.

When they reached the cave it was already nighttime. The moon was hanging high in the sky, the stars had already appeared, they were shining brightly in the sky. The surroundings of the cave were very peaceful and covered with trees, there were the sounds of the cicadas. When they arrived at the cave, they didn't stop to appreciate the peaceful night and directly entered the cave. After entering through several entrances, they arrived at their destination.

Bae Ah was cultivating when they arrived, she opened her eyes and looked at the two of them and felt that something was wrong, so she asked them,

"What happened? What took you two so long, I was starting to get worried"

"You can ask Cho Byeol," after saying this, Yang Zhai went to his bed to meditate.

"Let me rest for a while before I tell you what happened" Cho Byeol was exhausted after what happened today, all of this was very tiring to her.

Bae Ah nodded and didn't say anything while looking worriedly at Cho Byeol.

When Yang Zhai saw Cho Byeol he frowned and felt that something was wrong. How could she get so tired so easily, and this wasn't the first time, this happened last night as well, even though she hadn't participated in the fight she was still very tired. He knew that what happened today was tiring, but she was still a Rank three cultivator. This shouldn't happen to a Rank 3 peak stage cultivator. And they hadn't even traveled that much today, that she would get so tired.

Yang Zhai didn't think too much about it and continued cultivating. If Cho Byeol and Bae Ah wanted him to know anything about it, they would have told him by themselves, so he didn't ask. Why should he bother, if they even themselves didn't mention anything? And he knew that there must be a reason that they didn't mention why Cho Byeol gets tired so easily.

After resting for a while, Cho Byeol started to tell Bae Ah about what happened. When Bae Ah heard this her forehead was covered with sweat and a look of worry appeared on her face, and she asked Cho Byeol

"Nothing happened to you guys, right?" While asking, she started to examine Cho Byeol's body from every angle she could.

"Huh.., I'm fine but.. can you please keep a distance," Cho Byeol was embarrassed and said to Bae Ah. She thought that Bae Ah was getting too worried about her.

"Why are you so embarrassed, it's not like I'm removing your clothes or something," Bae Ah said, making Cho Byeol even more embarrassed.

After saying that, Bae Ah walked towards Yang Zhai.

"Thank you, if it wasn't for you, I don't know what would have happened to her and if she would still be alive," Bae Ah bowed and said to Yang Zhai.

"No, it's nothing, I didn't do anything," Yang Zhai said casually.

After that Bae Ah walked back to Cho Byeol's side and started talking to her.

When Yang Zhai saw the two of them talking to each other, he didn't disturb them and started thinking about today's incident. He was anxious. He was worried that something big was going to happen, so he couldn't go out unless it was necessary.

After this day, life in the cave continued as usual. But for some reason, Cho Byeol began to remain sick, and she didn't talk as much as before. Even Yang Zhai started to get bored because the environment in the cave began to get more silent and the cave wasn't as lively as before. This was because he had been living alone for so many years and when he encountered Cho Byeol and Bae Ah, he no longer had to live alone anymore and didn't feel loneliness. But when Cho Byeol got sick, silence returned to the cave.

Bae Ah liked to remain silent and Yang Zhai also got used to not speaking much because of his cautiousness. But Cho Byeol was a lively and carefree girl. So, she always kept on asking Yang Zhai more and more questions, and he also got used to this. But this wasn't the case anymore because of Cho Byeol's sickness.

Just like that, one month passed in the blink of an eye.

"How is she now?" Yang Zhai asked Bae Ah, who was sitting near Cho Byeol.

Cho Byeol was lying down on Yang Zhai's bed. She was sick for the past month. Her condition wasn't getting any better, instead, it had only gotten worse. From time to time, she would start breathing heavily, as if she was having a hard time breathing.

"Not good, if this keeps up, it'll only get worse," Bae Ah said worriedly. There was sadness on her face because she couldn't see Cho Byeol in this condition. From whenever she was young, she hadn't seen Cho Byeol in this condition except for one time.

"Can I ask you about something?" Yang Zhai glanced at Cho Byeol and asked.

"What is it?" Bae Ah said.

"What sickness does she have?" Yang Zhai looked at Bae Ah and said,

Bae Ah turned her face to look at Yang Zhai, who was standing on her right side.

"Sigh, she doesn't have any sickness, she is perfectly fine," Bae Ah heaved a sigh and said,

"Are you sure," Yang Zhai didn't believe Bae Ah and frowned.

And whenever she gets injured, it takes double the time for her to heal than a normal person." Bae Ah said while grabbing Cho Byeol's hand, "Not just her body, but even her emotions are also the same. She can forgive anyone, as long as they ask for forgiveness. Do you remember how she kept on bothering you, even though you captured her? Because you didn't harm us, she wanted to make friends with you. And also because she thought that you were lonely," Bae Ah's voice kept on lowering as she continued and stopped in the middle of speaking.

"No wonder," after hearing Bae Ah, Yang Zhai understood why Cho Byeol got tired too easily on the night they were attacked by two Green wind wolves, even though she hadn't participated in the fight. It was because of the pressure she was facing from the Green wind wolves. He knew that something was wrong with Cho Byeol's condition.

"And when was the other time this happened to her?" Yang Zhai asked Bae Ah.

But when Bae Ah heard this, her body trembled and a tear fell from her right eye.

When Yang Zhai saw Bae Ah's expression, he knew that maybe he shouldn't have asked it.
