Mrs. Alonso's visit

Marc was sitting in his office, concentrating on his work, when he heard a knock at the door. He got up, walked over to the door and opened it. There was his mother, standing on the threshold, a smile on her face.

"Hello, son," she said, as she entered the office without waiting to be invited. "How are you?"

"I'm fine, Mom," Marc replied, closing the door behind her. "What brings you here?"

"I miss you, son," his mother said, gently stroking his cheek. "I haven't seen my youngest son in a long time. I want to know how you're doing and how you're doing in life."

Marc sighed. He knew his mother wasn't there just for a social visit. She had come to try to persuade him to return to the Alonso family.

"You know how I am, Mom," he said. "I'm doing fine. I'm doing well. I'm happy with my life."

"I can't believe you keep saying that," his mother said, frowning. "How can you be happy away from your family, away from your roots?"

"My happiness doesn't depend on my family or my roots, Mom," Marc replied, trying to remain calm. "It depends on me and the choices I make in my life."

"I know, I know," his mother said, taking his hand. "But you can't deny that family is important. And your father needs you. He's been sick, and he needs his son by his side."

"I've already talked to you about Dad, Mom," Marc said, withdrawing his hand from hers. "I know he's sick, but he always takes care of himself, and he has people around him who are helping him. And as for you, you can't just show up here and expect me to change my mind about my life."

"So, what, you're not going to come home, you're not going to help your family through a difficult time?"

Marc looked at his mother, feeling the tension in the room. He knew she wasn't going to leave it at that.

"I'm sorry, Mom," he said. "But my decision remains the same. I like my life here, and I'm not going to give up everything I've built to come home and be unhappy."

His mother looked at him, visibly frustrated.

"So, what, this is what you want for your life? To be a useless son-in-law? Without a family of your own? Without a real connection to your roots?"

Marc sighed, knowing he wasn't going to be able to convince his mother otherwise.

"What do you want, Mom?" Marc asked with a mixture of curiosity and hostility.

His mother seemed to ignore his nasty tone and sat down on the couch in her office "I came to talk to you, son," she said in a soft voice.

"About what?"

"About your life. About what you're doing here. About what's going on in the family."

Marc frowned. He knew his mother was referring to her decision to move away from the Alonso family and start her own business. He wasn't sure why she was here now, but it was clear it wasn't going to be an easy conversation.

"You know why I left," Marc said, trying to avoid the subject.

"Yes, I do. But I also know that things here aren't going as well as you'd hoped."

Marc was surprised by the information his mother had. He hadn't spoken to her in months, how could she know about his business?

"It sounds like you need a little help," his mother continued, "and the Alonso family is willing to give it to you."

"I don't want their help," Marc said, raising his tone of voice. "I already told you I walked away from that life. I'm doing this on my own."

"I know that, son, and I respect that. But sometimes, we need a little help to succeed. The Alonso's are willing to invest in your company and help you grow your business."

Marc got up from the couch and began pacing the room, frustrated by the conversation. "I don't want their money, Mom. I don't want anything from them. I want to do this on my own."

"But what if you can't?" his mother asked with a concerned tone. "What if you need help getting ahead? Isn't it better to have your family on your side?"

Marc paused and looked at his mother. He knew she was worried about him, but he couldn't let the Alonso family take control of his life again. "I don't need your help, Mom. I'm sorry."

"I understand that you feel that way, but there are some things you need to know before you make such an important decision," his mother said. "There are secrets in the family that could change your mind."

Marc frowned at her words. What secrets could there be that could change his decision to leave home?

"What do you mean?" Marc asked, cautiously.

"Your father and brother have been involved in some shady business dealings," his mother said quietly. "Businesses that aren't legal and could put you in danger if you stay away from them."

Marc gasped at his mother's revelation. He couldn't believe that his family was involved in illegal activities.

"¿What are you talking about?" Marc asked, still unable to assimilate his mother's words.

"I can't give you details right now, but you need to know that there's more at stake here than your freedom and independence," his mother said earnestly. "You need to think about your safety as well."

Marc was silent, pondering what he had just heard. Was his family really involved in illegal activities? Could he be endangering his life if he didn't remain loyal to them?

For a moment, Marc felt his world shake. He had been so sure of his decision to leave his home and pursue his own happiness, but now he was faced with a different reality.

Finally, Marc raised his head and looked his mother in the eye.

"Mother, I appreciate your concerns, but I have made my decision," he said firmly. "My freedom and happiness are more important to me than any loyalty to the family."

His mother's expression changed to one of sadness and disappointment.

"I can't believe you're willing to sacrifice everything for your own interests," she said with a sigh.

"It's my life, Mother," Marc said with determination. "I can't go on living a lie, pretending to be someone I'm not. I've found my true identity and I can't go back."

"I understand that you feel that way, son," his mother said in a soft voice. "But there is something you need to know. the man who raised you he is not your father, your real father died in a car accident when you were a child."

Marc was speechless, not knowing how to react to that revelation. For years, he had felt a deep bitterness wondering why he was always left out by his grandfather and father, But now, he knew the truth why he had never been treated with the same love as his brother.

"Why didn't you ever tell me?" he asked in a trembling voice.

"I am sorry, son. I didn't want you to be overwhelmed by sadness and pain. I wanted you to grow up without the weight of that burden on your shoulders. But now, I think you need to know the truth so you can make an informed decision about your life."

Marc plopped down on the couch, overwhelmed by the complexity of his emotions. On the one hand, he was relieved to know the truth about his father, but on the other, he felt torn.

"How can I make a decision now, Mother? This is all too much to process," he said in a broken voice.

"I know, son. But you need to make a decision. Do you want to go back to the Alonso family or move on with your life as it is now?"

Marc pondered for a few moments, weighing the options in his mind. On the one hand, the Alonso family was his home and his past, but on the other, the life he had built for himself brought him freedom and happiness he had never known before.

"I'm sorry, Mother," he finally said. "I know this is hard for you, but I have to move on with my life. I can't go back to the past."

His mother nodded sadly, but with quiet understanding in her eyes. She got up from the couch and walked over to Marc, hugging him tightly.

"I know I will always love you, son. I'll be here for you whenever you need me," she said softly.

Marc let himself be hugged by his mother, feeling a mixture of sadness and release. He had finally found the truth to so many questions, he had made a decision about his future. Although he knew there would be difficult times ahead, he was determined to move forward with his life as it was now.

His mother sighed and stood up to leave. "Just think about it, son. We're here to help you if you ever need it."

Marc looked at her as she walked out of the office feeling a little guilty about her nasty tone. But he knew he couldn't go back to the life he had left behind. No matter how much money the Alonso's offered, he would move on on his own.
