Chapter 13 : Fighting the dorm horde(I)

“Crap!”

For the first time in his life Dante fully experienced what it meant to be blasted by a blow horn.

His ears were ringing like crazy!

That however wasn't the main thing.

Running to the window his face turned even darker.

The perverted look that was previously hanging on his face was long gone replaced by one of fear and panic.

Zombies were inherently optimized with great sharp senses. A slight sound was enough to alert them into a frenzy.

Just as he guessed all the zombies that were previously wandering aimlessly were now staggering in the direction of the male hostel block.

Last night he was able to avoid facing a horde but looking at the situation now there was definitely no way he could avoid one.

Throwing all these thoughts to the back of his mind he quickly turned towards the door only to see the lady standing there. Thankfully she had covered the exposed parts of her body.

“I went to take a bath….”

“There's no need for an explanation, it's my fault for leaving the door open what's your name?” Cutting the girl off Dante asked as a plan was swiftly forming in his head.

“Amber, my name is Amber I….”

“Alright Amber, while I can understand you were shocked your yelling has gotten us into some deep trouble as a bunch of zombies are already gathering here as we speak!”

Pointing towards the window Dante gave her a stern look.

Immediately, Amber’s face turned from one of embarrassment to one of pure horror.The scenes that she had witnessed yesterday were still vivid in her head.

Slowly she staggered back as tears welled up in her eyes which made her look extremely pitiful.

Seeing this Dante felt like he had gone harsh on her, while it wasn't really a big deal for him since he was used to the apocalypse the same couldn't be said for her and most other people considering this was just day two of the apocalypse.

“Alright enough with the crying, you can save your tears for later, we have to get out of this building as soon as possible.”. Sighing, Dante helped Amber up.

“I'm sorry for the trouble I caused.”

“Uhm."

Nodding Dante quickly continued.

“Get your friends and grab anything useful, you have three minutes to prepare.”

“O..okay,I'll do that immediately!" Nodding like a hen pecking at rice Amber rushed out of the dorm. Soon the sound of clothes rustling and items being scattered could be heard.

“Ugh…” After amber left the urge to facepalm became too strong for Dante to control.

“…what the hell did I get myself into?” Hey system this counts as me progressing with the sub-quest right?"

[You can continue dreaming?]

"Guessed as much?"

Despite bantering with the system Dante’s hands weren't idle as he was busy greedily taking all the items belonging to the previous occupants.

Technically it wasn't like he was stealing it since they must have died or turned into zombies anyway.

Most of it were clothes and shoes but there was still a sizeable amount of snacks and canned foodstuff. He also found some bottles of water lying in the mini fridge and for a moment the idea of taking the fridge along was irresistible.

“I have the Dimensional storage space so it isn't impossible….”

He was still contemplating this when Amber and her three friends showed up each with a bag and a new set of clothes.

“We’ve picked everything that we found useful. I told them to change into some shirt and trousers we found in the cupboards since we might need to run.”

Looking at the three Dante simply nodded, throwing the matter of the fridge behind him he replied.

“You guys must have been briefed by Amber about the situation…..” pausing he observed their expressions, clearly they were panicking but they still nodded in acknowledgement.

“....good if you want to survive, I'll advise you to follow every order I give to the letter! If you fail to do so and end up getting caught by a zombie I won't risk my life for your's understood?”

“Ye..yeah.”

“Understood."

Seeing that they had already gotten his message Dante wasted no time anymore as he quickly entered the dorm corridor.

By now some of the zombies had made their way into the dormitory from the main entrance. The lobby was already full of the undead making ones skin tingle from fear.

Luckily for them, the dorm had more than the main entrance as there was another escape exit at the back of the building.

This was where Dante was planning to escape with.

Opening the door the entire corridor was pretty much empty, it would take the zombies some time to get to the second floor as long as no noise was made to attract them.

Gripping the Resonant chain blade, Dante cautiously made his way out,the three girls behind him.

The hostels followed a hotel-style layout where each room faced a corridor, which ended in a short turn leading to a staircase.

Since the rooms weren't that many they soon arrived at the flight of stairs. Seeing that they had not encountered a single zombie up till this point Dante couldn't help but wonder of the goddess of luck was finally falling in love with him.

The next moment though that thought dissapeared from his mind immediately.

Right there on the bottom of the stairs a lone zombie could be seen staring blankly at the stairs ahead. The moment it saw Dante it uttered a guttural roar before lunging at him at full speed.

“F*ck!”

Cursing Dante swung the Resonant chain blade with full force. A murderous glare reflected off the surface of the blade as it sliced through the air right at the incoming zombie. Before it could even get close to Dante the blade had already separated the head from the body causing the headless body to tumble down the stairs before landing with a thud.

“Zo..zo…zombie!”

Seeing the headless zombie fall down the stairs the girl with the ponytails was about to scream from fear, luckily Amber quickly covered her mouth.

“Cory we're safe see? He's already killed the zombie."

Hearing this Cory looked closer and truly the zombie was not moving anymore at the same time she could also see the decapitated head lying on the ground, instantly she threw up.

The other girl wasnt any better as she also vomited.

Seeing that they had calmed down a bit Amber finally turned to Dante only to see him grimly staring at the stairs below.

Instinctively, her guts twisted as a bad feeling rose in her.

“I think it's too early to say we're safe yet."

He wasn't even done talking before countless growling sounds accompanied by uneven footsteps could be heard on the stairs.

The next moment a bunch of zombies appeared on the stairs!
