i take back my words

“Ugh…I take back my words, lady luck must hate me!”

Groaning, Dante felt a pressing urge to smack his face. It wasn't even up to a minute yet he was already eating his words!

The ferocious zombies however gave him no time to even think about that as they were already rushing up the stairs.

Luckily the stairs could only fit so many zombies at a time giving Dante amole time to fish out some instructions.

Turning to the three girls behind him he saw that they were nearly petrified from fear, however, he couldn't be bothered with pacifying them now.

“Stay behind me and ensure you move when I move, don’t do anything stupid……here, take this you might need to do a little bit of swinging later when we have strays.”

Pausing he thought for a bit before stretching his hand into the air as a metal baseball bat appeared in his hand.

Tossing the bat towards Amber he ignored the shock on her face as he prepared himself for the upcoming battle.

Naturally there was no way you wouldn't be shocked when you saw an item appear out of thin air!

Grabbing the handle she stared blankly at Dante's back.

“I, I, don't know how to use it,I…”. Rushing through her words Amber finally summoned enough courage to speak up when she saw how lost her friends were.

As normal, ordinary students before all this apocalyptic madness started it was understandable that they still found it hard to believe there were actual zombies.

Heck in their minds they were still wondering if this was all just a really nasty dream!

Dante's next words however chilled them to the depths of their being.”

“Then you and your friends can become zombie chow.”

With a low voice full of indifference Dante said without turning back. They were still reeling in shock when he continued this time facing the trio, his voice even more stern!

“This is the apocalypse not a training ground, the only person you can rely on is yourself!”

By now the first zombie had already scaled to the top of the stairs and was already swiping it's claws towards Dante.

Ignoring the girls he faced the approaching zombies as heet it's attack head on!

The claw was especially fast as it actually brought along a sharp breeze that stung Dante on the cheek. Sidestepping he swiftly dodged the attack before raising the Resonant chain blade for an upward diagonal cut while also delivering a kick to the zombie's chest.

There was only a swift black blur in the air before the zombie's claw froze in midair l.

The next moment a thin blood line appeared on its neck as a huge amount of blackish blood flowed out, few seconds later the head slid down falling in front of Dante while it's headless body landed on the stairs below with a sickening crunch.

Stepping on the head that rolled towards him he kicked it to the side which coincidentally was where Cory was standing.

She was still staring dumbly at the baseball bat when a terrifying disgusting head rolled in front of her nearly causing her to faint. Remembering Dante's threat though she scrambled back to where Amber and the other girl, Mia were staying.

Dante on the other hand couldn't be bothered as another zombie was already clawing over the first twitching corpse. This particular zombie was very fat and judging from it's tattered attire it had to be one of the managers of the hostel.

ROAR!!!

Opening it's scarily huge mouth it released a guttural roar as it's jaw snapped hard in the air. A wave of foul, disgusting air blasted towards Dante.

Raising the Resonant chain blade Dante simply sliced foward at the undead’s fat filled neck.

“Ugh? ”

However instead of the smooth cut he had expected the Resonant chain blade actually bounced off like it had hit rubber causing him to be surprised.

“A skeletal meatdud actually appeared here!” Seeing the fat zombie Dante couldn't help but think out aloud. Skeletal meatduds were a special kind of zombie with insanely high defence due to the excessive fat on their bodies.

Normally, they were not that common yet he had encountered one here!

Taking advantage of his surprise the fat zombie was already lunging towards him, clearly it was trying to crush him with it's sheer weight!

Forcefully, he altered the path of the Resonant chain blade that was traveling upwards before crossing it in front of him effectively blocking the zombie's initial lunge giving him some time to properly reorient his previous posture.

This move only made the zombie stagger for a mere second but that was all Dante needed.

Imbuing the Resonant chain blade with mechanical force, faint, golden coloured lightning tendrils danced chaotically on the Resonant chain blade.

With another horizontal slash this time aiming at the head the thing's skull split open splattering the stairs with foul smelling black blood and brain matter. Delivering a kick the fat body fell backwards crushing some zombies that were unlucky to be in it's path.

Some blood had also splattered on Dante but he wasn't too concerned about it, instead he gripped the Resonant chain blade even tighter, a crazed look appeared on his face as he suddenly thought of something.

“Hey system, I'm getting points for anything I kill right?"

[Definetly as long as you kill them with your own crafted equipment.]

“Good, good, come to daddy!" Nodding, continuously the way he looked at the zombies changed immediately. In his eyes the zombies had suddenly become walking point bags!

“Move when I move.”

Without turning to the three girls he said, the next second he flew out like a bowstring stretched to the max!

The zombies that were clamoring up didn't even know what hit them before they tumbled back down the stairs, before they could stand up Dante's blade was already falling.

This time around Dante was no longer using just the Resonant chain blade, another baseball bat was dangling from his left hand now.

The baseball bat had nails embedded in it a clear sign of modification.

With practiced motions he either bashed their heads into messy pieces or sliced them off completely. The three girls were so shocked they stood rooted to the spot for a while their mouths hanging open.

To them these zombies were overwhelming yet Dante's way of killing them without regard for himself made them wonder if he was even human.

As the natural leader among her friends amber soon snapped out of her daze when she realized that there were only dead zombies in front of them. Remembering Dante's words she quickly urged her friends.

“Guys stop looking and follow me we have to leave now!"

Snapping out of their shock the remaining both Cory and Mia hurriedly followed after Amber. As they passed by the battered zombie bodies lying on the stairs the shock and awe they felt towards Dante increased even more as a single thought rose to their mind.

This guy was not human!

With Dante's efficiency at killing the undead the whole length of the flight of stairs was free from any zombie and soon they found themselves at the lobby of the hostel.

At a glance there had to be at least a few dozen undeads rushing towards Dante causing Amber and her friends to feel like they were staring at death right in the eye.

“Fuck!”

Dante was also feeling the same thing although for another reason.

“Damn it, once I get out of this shithole I'm getting a gun blueprint. Definitely!”

At first when he received comfirmation that the zombies would surely give him gear points he couldn't control the greed in his heart.

Gritting his teeth now, Dante felt like a total idiot now that he thought about it.

The zombies were seemingly endless in number while he only had a saber and a baseball bat. Plus he was still an ordinary human!

A machine gun would be the best weapon for this kind of situation with a huge amount of zombies.

Despite the fact that he killed the undead quickly it was all because he was on the stairs, a terrain that was advantageous to him since it allowed him to control the flow of the battle.

Out here in the lobby though,it was more difficult since he had to watch out for attacks from all side.

You might ask, what about Amber and her friends, at least they were behind him and could help ward off some zombies of they collaborated?

Well……just forget about them!

To Dante the presence of the three ladies behind him was more or less just for show. If a zombie suddenly appeared behind him the probability of them simply passing out from fear was higher than them alerting him!

Crushing the skull of another zombie he flicked the handle of the Resonant chain blade to remove the blood while panting hard.

Looking at the horde of zombies that seemed to be increasing instead of decreasing he felt the urge to curse out loud again.

Fighting another bunch of zombies he quickly went through his inventory and his face quickly turned into a frown.

The electromagnetic grenades would definitely blast the bastards to pieces but he Amber and the other two students would also be buried under the hostel after it collapsed!

The Serax pistol on the other hand was simply too powerful and was solely designed for single target damage anyway. Using it would simply be a waste of it's potential in his opinion.

The only other weapon he could use now would be the power armour but there was a reason he avoided using it being that the armour was simply a bottomless hole for mechanical force. According to his calculations his pitiful Mechanical force would disaapear after less than five minutes of fighting!

“Damn it I really have to get a gun!”

He could curse all day but it wouldn't change a thing, the first thing he had to do was to make it out of here alive or else this place might end up as his burial ground!

“Dante! Lo…lo…look!”

Gritting his teeth, he was still deciding if using the power armour to clear a path was worth it when Amber suddenly shrieked distracting him.

“Are you a f*cking banshee?!”

The female zombie he was fighting with took this chance to swipe at his throat while another grabbed the baseball bat in his hand. Reluctantly he had to drop the bat while using his other free hand to block the attack aimed at his throat.

Pushing the two zombies back he quickly retreated back while glaring at Amber.

He was about to scold her when suddenly a sharp screech filled the entire lobby.

Immediately Dante's face turned white as cold drops of sweat instantly pooled on his back and forehead.

At the same time the system suddenly pinged.

  • Chapter 13 : Fighting the dorm horde(I)

“Crap!”For the first time in his life Dante fully experienced what it meant to be blasted by a blow horn. His ears were ringing like crazy! That however wasn't the main thing. Running to the window his face turned even darker. The perverted look that was previously hanging on his face was long gone replaced by one of fear and panic. Zombies were inherently optimized with great sharp senses. A slight sound was enough to alert them into a frenzy. Just as he guessed all the zombies that were previously wandering aimlessly were now staggering in the direction of the male hostel block. Last night he was able to avoid facing a horde but looking at the situation now there was definitely no way he could avoid one. Throwing all these thoughts to the back of his mind he quickly turned towards the door only to see the lady standing there. Thankfully she had covered the exposed parts of her body. “I went to take a bath….” “There's no need for an explanation, it's my fault f

  • Chapter 12: They actually get that big?

As he stared at the quest window floating in front of him Dante wished that he was dreaming. Unfortunately though this wasn't a dream. The existence of a sub-quest was actually long expected by Dante at this he wasn't surprised a bit. In his opinion there was no way the system would immediately assign him the main quest without some minor quests that would serve as stepping stones to reach the main quest. It was just like playing a video game, you had to deal with the minions before you could have a chance to fight the boss! What shocked him though was the fact that he only had a single year to complete the quest! "Hey system why is the timeline a year, there's got to be something wrong with your measurements.” Frowning he muttered to the system in his head as he looked at the still suspended interface. If he didn't remember wrongly humans were still existing after a year had passed. In fact he got killed by the D-tier zombie king five years into the apocalypse s

Naturally the young man was none other than Dante! Contrary to his belief that he could shake off the zombie horde from the ice cream shop, the opposite happened instead. The bastards stuck to him like a bloody loach! Furthermore, the zombies even had the guts to call over more of their kind. If not for his sharp wits and admirable skills he would have met his maker! Eventually he was able to shake off the zombies but by then the sky was already getting dark. If you thought the horrors of the day weren't enough try nighttime! Unlike in the movies where zombies became slow and super inactive at night the zombies in real life proved otherwise as they instead became even more ferocious in dark. Plus the chance of encountering a mutated beast was even higher at this time since they treated night as their hunting time. There was no way Dante would willingly offer himself up for dinner–ever! There was a problem though—he had nowhere to stay. By now the apocalypse had

  • Aura farming!

The skies of Brayden were already turning purple with a tinge of greyish black smoke in them. The first day of the apocalypse was over. The terror however wasn't! In a small piece of shrubbery next to the student dormitories, a group of three girls could be seen hiding while doing their best not to make a sound. They looked tattered and there was nothing to mention their once youthful beauty as their clothes were torn and bloodied while dirt caked up on their faces. Currently they were watching or rather were forced to watch their friend being eaten by a zombie. They had just been heading out for a quick meal at the cafeteria when the apocalypse descended, the next few hours were their worst which unfortunately led to the death of their friend. The scene before them was utterly gut wrenching enough to make the strongest willed person retch, there was nothing they could do however as any movement they made would inevitably alert the zombies to their presence. Finally a

  • Zombies? kill!

The next moment the entire mall descended into pure chaos as people tried to run far away from the zombies. By now even more zombies had exited the gateways and were already on their hunting spree. “Idiots!” Seeing the crowd was pushing each other Dante couldn't help but let out a curse involintarily. With the way they were behaving more people would die instead of escaping! At this moment they were more like mindless animals running without direction rather than intelligent humans. “I also can't stand here like this.”Muttering to himself, Dante searched around for a suitable weapon which quickly turned out to be a mopping stick some cleaner had dropped earlier. Twisting the head off he swung it around a bit to gain a measure of the improvised weapons limits before deciding that this was balanced enough for him to use. It wasn't perfect but at least it was better than not having a weapon on him.At exactly the same moment a zombie arrived at his floor of the mall and
