Put Him In His Place

Even though his family is well to do and he occasionally helps people to maintain the titles and the praises, all his allowance allocated to him wasn't even up to that amount.

And he was going to pay it for a lowly actress who doesn't worth anything?

Damn it! He thought of backing out, but he would be embarrassed to death and his family's reputation would be tarnished.

He looked around, and the crowd had gathered even more because of his presence.

No, he could not. He rummaged his brain, thinking of a way to salvage this situation he had just put himself through. He would just use his family's card then, even though the money in that account is already carved out for a project. Yes. Yes, that was what he would—

His thoughts were interrupted when Lisa, whose tears were almost running down, winced and then he kowtowed to him.

“Thank you. Thank you Master George. I'm forever grateful to you!”

George's eyes raked Lisa's frame. She might have fallen down on her high horse, making her an object of spectacle at the moment, but she did have a good body. Nice curves, big boobs, and supple looking skin, he could already envision how she would moan out his name on his bed when he ravaged her.

For a long time, he had tried possible means to bring her to his bed but she kept declining his offer. He could almost give her an applause, but it still made him angry nevertheless, making him want her even more.

After all, 20 million dollars isn't a small amount right? She would owe him her gratitude and he was going to exploit it, but still… that amount…

“Good.” George said, trying to act natural, even though he is doing a bad job at it. He couldn't give out the idea that this money was making him shake.

But when he whisked out his wallet from his pockets and brought out a brown debit card and stretching it to Gojo, his hands still trembled.

Gojo took it from him and another wave of panic attack hit him as he felt his life got along with that card. His parents were going to kill him.

Gojo brought out the machine and keyed in the amount. He looked at the brown card in his hands and couldn't help a smile that broke out of his face.

Even though the brown card is the second to the highest card in Oakenshield, having a brown card in your possession is extremely difficult. Even Mr Gojo himself doesn't have one.

And there are more of those brown cards in master George's possession?

Incredible!

He had been looking forward to receiving this money. He had even planned what he was going to do with the money and Lisa couldn't afford to pay.

Now, with this card, he would get back his money. Or should he just reduce the amount? By doing so, George would see him as a good person and bring him closer to him.

And if he is close to George, doesn't that mean that he is a step closer to creating a connection with the Anderson’s family?

Gojo's smile broadened even more at his thoughts! He was even more proud of himself.

He gleefully swiped the card, his ears perking up to hear something, but hearing it now, disappointment zapped through his body instead.

“Sorry! This card has insufficient balance to complete this payment.”

His head snapped towards George, whose face had slightly become ashen.

“I'm…” Gojo said apologetically. “I'm sorry, but it says insufficient balance. But I'm sure it's the machine's fault. Let me try it again.”

But even after he tried it over five times, it kept repeating the same thing over and over again. “Sorry! This card has insufficient balance.”

At this point, the smile on Gojo's face had been wiped clean, replaced by a deep scowl. “What is this?”

“What? How is this possible? George Washington? Insufficient funds?”

“Are they going bankrupt? This is so unheard of!”

The murmurs were getting higher and higher, making George's face turn red with a mixture of embarrassment and shame.

“Try…try it again.” George didn't want to lose face.

“What do you mean by ‘try it again’? Are you blind to see how many times I've tried it?” Mr Gojo spat with fury. “Messing with me now, do not think that because you're the only heir of the Anderson's that you can mess with me!”

Even though the Anderson's were richer than Gojo's family, he still had connections.

“Mess with you? How can the Gojo family be compared to the Anderson's?” George sneered. Losing face was not an option and he was going to use his family's status to douse this situation.

“Ha! The Anderson's family. So why couldn't you pay? Moreover, I can't remember inviting you here to pay and neither did I force you to, did I?”

Murmurs erupted at the sudden turn of events. But before it could fully swallow everyone, another voice cut through from the back, silencing everyone!

“I can pay for her.”

The people parted once more, as Sabito walked through until he was standing side by side with Gojo and George.

George recognized him at a glance, his tone mocking when he spoke. “What a joke! Because the elephant is now sick doesn't mean a hare could beat him in fights. What is someone like you doing here?” he asked, hinting at how big a difference their financial status is even though he couldn't afford to pay this debt today.

“Yeah.”

“Yeah.”

What does he think? Even if the only son of the Anderson's couldn't pay it off, what is he trying to prove?”

“Look at his clothes, faded and worn out. And he dared to even stand beside master George. Shameless.”

With their attack now directed at Sabito, George was beginning to regain his confidence, so he added, “what, did you hear I'm coming to this place and have decided to come and beg again, just like the last time?”

More murmurs.

“What? So he is a beggar, huh?!”

“A beggar foolishly being proud about being able to pay off 20 million dollars? That's an insult to the Anderson's family.”

“Maybe if you kneel down and apologize to him, then he might forgive you.”

Sabito's gaze was directed at Gojo when he spoke next, ignoring their snide remarks, looking unfazed and nonchalant.

“If I pay off her debt, will she be free?” he inquired, not even bothering to spare George a glance, making the latter’s face turn into a twisted, yet subtle frown.

“Yes, of course,” Gojo replied, sensing a shift in this stranger's demeanor.

He had met different kinds of people but he never heard anything about him nor seen him anywhere.

However, the confidence he exuded is on a whole other level. Infact, even though he didn't want to admit it, it was giving him the chills.

Without another word, he nonchalantly whisked out a card that made all eyes widen and jaws to drop in a mixture of suspicion and awe.

George's hands flew out of his pockets at once at the sight of the card…

“A…a black card?! That's impossible!”

“Where did you get that card?” Gojo asked in a trembling voice and so was his fingers as he pointed shakily at the black, sleek and shiny card.

Everyone in Oakenshield knew how hard a black card can come by. Only the few most influential families are able to get their hands on it, and yet, this…this…

Gojo's gaze raked Sabito again. He wanted to berate him, but with his experience he had gained from being in the street for so long, he refrained from doing so.

George's face turned into a smirk when he thought about it. How could he forget how he had painstakingly gone after that card but was ruthlessly rejected?

That card wasn't just any card. It represents power, wealth and affluence.

And now, this thing comes out with one?

“Well, why don't you try it and see if our pal’s card is genuine?” He was sure it was fake, already savoring the humiliation Sabito was about to face.

“It isn't fake.” Sabito finally spoke to George without sparing him a glance. His voice was deep and cold, his stance unshaken and radiating confidence.

“Then let's check now, Gojo, don't you think?”

Gojo nodded and took the card from Sabito. It was cold and heavy in his palm, and for a moment, he hesitated, unsure if he could trust the card or not.

Everyone held their breath, tension thick in the air. Some were eager to mock him, others simply skeptical.

Gojo swiped the finally swiped the card and—

“The transaction of twenty million dollars…”
