The dim glow of flickering torches cast shifting shadows along the cold stone walls as Ethan followed Magnus down the winding corridor.

Magnus had led him down a narrow, spiraling staircase that seemed to appear out of nowhere in his study after they left the balcony.

Dust clung to the edges of the steps, and cobwebs draped over the low ceiling, showing it had been abandoned for years.

Ethan's curiosity burned with every silent stride because Magnus hadn’t spoken a word since they began this strange journey.

Then, suddenly, Magnus stopped.

Ethan nearly bumped into him, his brows furrowing in confusion as he watched the old man turn to face nothing but a solid wall.

There was no door. No markings. Nothing. Just ancient, weathered stone.

Magnus finally spoke for the first time since their silent journey began.

"The ring..." he said, voice steady but laced with something Ethan couldn’t quite place.

The person was no other than Vanessa. She was wearing a tight red dress that hugged every curve of her body. The dress was short, showing off her smooth legs, and the neckline dipped low enough to catch any man’s attention. Her long dark hair fell over one shoulder in perfect waves. She sat on the edge of the large table with one leg elegantly crossed over the other, her high heels dangling from her toes, like she owned the room.As she saw Damian, she flipped her hair back with a slow, deliberate motion and smiled.“Hey honey,” she said, her voice soft and sweet like honey. It was as if she had known that Damian would open the door any moment.Mr. Lorenzo’s jaw slackened the instant he saw her. His throat worked once, then twice, before he forced himself to swallow and stand straighter.“Uh… Mr. Hayes,” he stammered, his eyes darting between Damian and Vanessa. "I think I should… I have some urgent calls to make. The board meeting follow-ups, you know.”He cleared his throat awkw

And yes… Jessica had her own reason. She had grown up hearing Magnus' name whispered like a prayer in her household. Her parents, both small business owners who’d scraped together every penny to build their modest house, had worshipped him from afar."Look at him,” her father would say, pointing at Forbes articles plastered on their refrigerator. "That’s what real success looks like, Jess. That’s the kind of person you should aspire to be.”For years, she had tried. She’d studied his interviews, analyzed his strategies, and even wrote her college thesis on his business model. She’d genuinely believed he was some kind of genius, some untouchable force of nature who deserved all the praise the world threw at him.But everything changed when he destroyed their neighborhood. The government had awarded his construction company, Aurelius Construction Group, a contract to tear down their homes for a new development project.Even though the residents fought against it and protested, he went

The restaurant was almost dead quiet. Most tables were empty now, except for a couple of staff clearing plates in the far corner.Jessica was relieved no one had recognized Ethan—and by extension, her.If they had, she could already imagine her boss breathing down her neck, furious that she came back from her assignment empty-handed, all while being seen with someone who could’ve given her exactly what they needed: the true identity of the anonymous chairman. What surprised her more was how no one had picked up on him, especially since his name had been making the rounds even more lately.Weeks had gone by, and people still wouldn’t stop talking about him—thanks to his reputation as Lara’s so-called gigolo.Rumor had it Lara settled for him because she couldn’t risk marrying someone in her own league—someone she couldn’t control, who might leave her. Someone who might ruin her shot at inheriting everything Magnus would leave behind once he was gone.Halfway through their meal—jollof r

The ride was quiet.Too quiet.Ethan tried making small talk a couple of times, but she didn’t bother responding—just sat there with her arms crossed, staring out at the road like he didn’t even exist. He glanced over at her, a smirk tugging at his lips. “I like this.”After a while, he casually turned the wheel, taking a slight left instead of following the straight route she’d told him to.It took her a few minutes to notice. Her brow furrowed as she straightened. “This… isn’t the direction.”“I don’t remember seeing this neighborhood before," she said, her voice tight. His smirk widened. “That’s because you never took the scenic route.”Her voice rose instantly. “What the hell are you doing?”Her hand gripped the door handle.Still, no answer. His eyes stayed on the road. Her chest tightened."Stop the car. I’m serious. Drop me off right now!” She twisted the handle, but the lock didn’t click open."What the hell is wrong with you?!”Confusion and panic rushed through her as it hit

Ethan watched Jessica storm off as her hair whipped slightly in the breeze. He stood there for a second with a tightened jaw, contemplating on what to do because he couldn't bring himself to let her leave like that. Before she could get too far, he turned sharply and slid back into his car. The engine purred to life, and he rolled out slowly, keeping her in sight. She was already halfway down the block when a short horn sounded just beside her.Out of curiosity, she glanced to her left. But when she saw that he was the one, her eyes narrowed.“Of course,” she muttered under her breath, loud enough for herself. "The asshole again.”He leaned a little over the steering wheel, smirking. “Where are you heading? How about I give you a lift?”She didn’t even bother to look at him. “No. Thank you."He arched a brow, still keeping pace beside her. "No… I insist.”That made her stop dead in her tracks. She spun to face him, eyes blazing, one hand planted firmly on her hip.“You insist?” Her

The front of Aurelius Pharmaceuticals Group was alive with the usual morning movement as suits and heels clicked across the marble entrance, while the uniformed guards manned the entrance. And then there was Jessica. However, unlike others, she was causing a full-blown scene, asking the employees' questions about the anonymous chairman.“Come on, just tell me if you know who the anonymous chairman is,” she pressed, her voice low but persistent as she leaned closer to a young employee, walking onto the company. The employee stiffened, eyes darting nervously toward the guards. “Ma’am, I—I don’t know anything."When she kept on pressing the employee, a security guard appeared. “Miss, this is the third time you’ve been here this week. And I warned you yesterday to stop this."“I’m just asking questions,” she shot back.“That’s not a crime.”“Maybe not,” the guard said, motioning to another security officer, “but hanging around this entrance like this? That is a problem. You need to leave.
