"Teresa?!" Adrian finally found his voice, but he had to mention her name one more time before she could notice his presence. And even then, she didn't seem to care.
"Oh... Adrian". She mumbled nonchalantly. "What are you doing?" He was unsure of what else to say. His eyes were shooting red already, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Making out with my new boyfriend," she faced him again, smiling flirtingly. He could see Ricardo's face under the bright lights above them. He had an evil smirk printed all around, as if he had been waiting patiently for this day. He was the ladies man, the dream of every girl. And now, Adrian's Teresa included. Adrian still could not believe it. He had thought that even if every girl swoon over the Italian kid for his father's money, Teresa would certainly be different. Was he wrong all along? "But... Us..." He stammered and staggered, eyes fixed on Teresa. She only burst into a wild laughter which brought silence to the room as everyone directed their focus on them. "Us? You really think there was ever any 'us'? I was only with you for the benefits. You were a top student who seemed to know everything, I was a struggling student. So I stayed with you, only for the benefits. I thought you were smart but maybe you aren't smart enough to figure that out." Knees shook and lips shivered as he listened to her cruel words. He could not imagine that she would ever say those vile things. "So you used me all these while?" "Oh no, boy. You benefited from me too, Adyyy. People saw you around me, I'm sure that reduced your weirdness at least. Because trust me boy, without me, you wouldn't have survived a semester on this campus. I mean... Look around you, Adrian. Does anyone of us look like you?" She strolled around him, one arm on his shoulder and the other flying freely, pointing her fingers to every corner of the room and then back to him, the odd one out. The answer was obvious. Everyone else belonged to a super rich family. Everyone except Adrian. He was the black sheep. "What's this?" She took the wrapped box from him. He had cuddled it tightly so far just so he could give it to her. "Awwwnnn... You really got me a gift for Val? Is it the latest jewelry in town? Nah... You can't afford that. Probably just another fake diamond. I don't need your gifts, loser." The present flew back against his chest and into his hands, further deepening his wounds. Teresa cat-walked back to her new boyfriend and they locked in kisses again in front of him. Adrian heard whispers, gasps and laughter of mockery. Even the clapping of hands. Everyone probably thought he deserved this. "This is the best valentine gift ever..." His ears could hear the mockery. He really didn't want to hear any of that, but he did. "It looks like he's gonna cry..." "I would totally love to see that. What a simp! I have gotta have this on camera right now!" A guy pulled out his iPhone, recording. "Cry loser, cry!!" It seemed like eternity when they kissed. He wanted to leave, but his feet wouldn't move. They were rooted to the ground. When it was over, Teresa peered at him one more time. "You don't belong here, dear. Most importantly, you don't deserve me. Get out." She gestured with her head in a cold manner towards the door. Adrian's blood boiled. He couldn't just leave like that. Just like that? Strong hands pulled him from behind. It was the security men. Adrian struggled but they were stronger. They were about to throw him out when Ricardo commanded them to stop with a slight raise of his finger. Then he came slowly. "You know, Adrian. I really pity you. You are nothing but a charity case. That's the only reason you can attend the same school as us, the same parties as us. It's better you know your place. Did you really think you could keep a babe like Teresa? She's a queen around here, you know. You should be her slave." Ricardo stared into Adrian's eyes with disgust, occasionally placing his palm behind his neck and brushing his hair with a dismissive look on his face. He wanted to place his hand on Adrian's shoulder, then he stopped midway as if scared that Adrian carried a disease around. "You should focus on making loads of money so you won't be abandoned again in the future. Geez. Do you have any idea how terrible you look?" He shook his head pitifully and everyone else chorused in laughter. "I know you're a smart kid, Adrian. So I'll give you one chance to walk away peacefully. Walk out of here, just the same way your parents walked out of your life." Dear lord! Did he just mention Adrian's parents? How dare he? His last words triggered a much louder gasp from the audience, and they all thought it was funny. But within Adrian's chest, he felt his heart pump faster in rage. And before anyone could see it coming, his clenched fist landed on Ricardo Rodriguez's face, sending him to the ground and causing chaos to erupt in the blink of an eye. "Did he...?" "He just attacked the face of the university? That sore loser?!" Adrian found himself on the floor as well in no time as Ricardo's guards, friends and servants kicked and punched him blue and black, almost knocking him out cold. The beating became worse in seconds and before he knew it, he could barely lift a finger afterwards. "Pull him up." As they forced him on his knees, his eyes barely opened to see Ricardo seated with a red face, Teresa tending to his scratch. He managed a smirk, satisfied. "Are you laughing?" Ricardo noticed. He stood up in greater annoyance and charged at Adrian. Then he stopped, and bent his face down towards him. "Listen and listen well, Adrian Blood. I know you have nothing, but I promise I will take everything away from you one by one... Starting with this little scholarship of yours." He threatened, but Adrian was too damaged to care. "Throw him out." At Ricardo's command, Adrian felt his body launched into the air by multiple hands, dragged roughly away from the scene. Later, he could see the stars in the sky shortly before he landed roughly on a waste ground littered with broken bottles. He could only scream as the sharp things pierced into his skin and blood came gushing. The foul smell of his surrounding was also unbearable. As he heard footsteps recede from him, his only companion was the gift box he bought for Teresa, lying by his side as helpless as himself. Then like a thought, louder than usual, a voice came into his head. "CHOSEN HEIR SYSTEM. HOST DETECTED. ACTIVATING IN 3... 2... 1..."

Ricardo Rodriguez was still wondering why he got the red blemish on his face. He did not remember ever getting hurt in anyway, neither did he get into a fight. But if none of those memories came to him, how would he explain this obvious red scar he found on the mirror."This is weird..." He said, observing his face through the reflective wall. Not even a single idea, not even a single memory. It was as though it just came out of nowhere.Ricardo's phone jilted. It was his man, Scorpion."What is it?"Scorpion had a deep rooted voice. "Your father is hell bent on finding that dead body. Right now, we are on the move to that place where his body was dumped. Orders are to search till we get a lead."Ricardo was not suprised at his father's sudden obsession with Han Zimmer's dead body. After all, he met with that old man at the end of the world in camera. Even though he had no idea what it was they said to one another, Ricardo knew it had something to do with this urge to retrieve the bod
Chapter One Hundred Ninety-One
"That is enough. Lyana Rodriguez is my guest. You will treat her with respect. Everyone can go back to their duties now." Lyu dispersed the crowd. Even if there was a few grumbles here and there, the kids eventually went back to whatever it was they were doing before Lyana Rodriguez's grand entrance. Yet some kept their gaze on her as they walked away, especially the instigator who had inspired the little kid against her. Till she could not figure out his face as he disappeared into the darkness, his gaze was strictly on her. Then Lyu kept on the move again, beckoning on Lyana to follow him. As she followed, she had a lot of questions to ask. How long had this old man been adopting children into this cave? How does he manage to keep them all fed and alive for so many years? How does he manage to avoid detection by the Raven government. He literally created a village of refugees on these rocks. How come nobody had never stumbled upon it?Did he use some sort of sorcery? Afterall, she s

It was dark when they returned to the cave. The moon barely showed the eyes any signs of an inhabitable presence no matter how hard Lyana Rodriguez forced her gaze in search of one. It looked desolate, it looked empty. This place was nothing but a pile of rocks, devoid of even animal life. Why in the world would this man bring her to a place like this?"Where exactly is this place? Where are we going?" The surroundings had no life. The evening had no soul. The birds flew past with no songs, possibly in haste to escape the void that spread beneath them."Follow me." He said, not uttering another statement. He walked further, then she saw it. It was dark, but it was there. An opening, a crack among the spread of rocks. The closer she got, the bigger it became to her. And the more luminescent it turned out to be. It was suddenly not at a complete loss for life or hope. The light she could trace into the hole suggested that people exist deep within that hole."A cave..."Lyana Rodriguez f

"I know you do not trust me right now, Lyana. But you really can not make the mistake of staying here in this city when there are so many people after you. You need to get away..." The old man said in the terms of a plea, yet Lyana had a feeling that she did not have much choice anyway."What do you know about me?" She asked rather in rhetorics. There was nobody in the world who knew enough about her to tell whether she was making the right decision or not. Perhaps Adrian Blood, then nobody else. Besides, this man claimed to be her mother's friend. What sort of a friend stays hidden for so many years and then turns up at a whim of their own desire like this? That was no true friend. That was only a companion."Please, child. It is not my place to tell you what to do, but allow me to atone for my sins." It was as if he listened to her thoughts, as if he eavesdropped on the conversations of her mind.He placed his hands on her shoulders. As much as she was triggered to shove his old fin

"You have such beautiful eyes, just like your mother..."He stared at her with so many expressions written in his eyes. So many thoughts seemed to cross his mind at the same time. For so many seconds, Lyana Rodriguez was left in confusion of whom this person might be. Then she remembered the tablet. The conversations. Could this be...? No way?"Are you the one? My... real father?"The man's gaze widened. It was as though he never expected that she would be as quick as that to recognize his supposed identity. "What...?""You are the one who spoke to me in that cell and promised to get me out, are you not? You sent this girl to save me, did you not?"The old man stared at the girl. There was nothing that suggested that they were allies or that they worked together. In fact, if anything, there were more like foes who had just crossed paths again.. His expression shifted into anger as the teenager glared back in annoyance."No," he said. "I did not send that thing to you. Why would I sen

The last time Lyana saw this monster, her brain was still submerged under the influence of whatever it was she had been drugged. Seeing him now, resentment surged in her heart, and hate took the place of his memory. Each word he spoke was nothing but disgust in her ears."Come on, my love. There is nowhere to run to now." Luther Astana laughed. His followers slowly diverged, ensuring that Lyana had nowhere to run. They had made a plan to encircle her. What was this? She had just escaped from that dreadful place. Was she going to somewhere else now?"What are you doing?" Lyana asked. "You are still a prisoner, remember?"Luther only sneered. "And so are you, my love. Does that not make us lovers behind bars. Perhaps we were truly meant to be. Anyway, the prison exists no longer. My freedom has been worked out by my father because he still considers me his son. I know it is something that is beyond your reach these days. You see, my family and yours, we are levels apart. My family would
