Chapter 1
Chapter One
As Adrian Blood paid for the gift box, handing his old payment card to the cashier, he heard a voice behind him.
"Oh! Look who it is! The scholarship student!" He turned around to see Ricardo Rodriguez and his pack of friends. They didn't like him one bit, he didn't like them either but he'd rather just stay out of trouble. "Hey pauper. What are you doing here?" They came closer. "This store is quite very expensive for people like you. I don't think you can afford anything they sell here." Ricardo Rodriguez was the richest kid in Ravendale University and he liked to show off his wealth. He also liked to talk down on the likes of Adrian who was finding it hard to pass by. Before he used to just ignore Adrian, saying that a low life like him was not worth his breathe of attention. But ever since he found out Adrian was the one dating Teresa Williams, the most beautiful girl in the university, he wouldn't let him be. He took every chance to disrespect and humiliate him. "Is that a gift box? How cute. Don't tell me you're getting this for Teresa." "Do you think she will accept that? Looks pretty cheap to me." One of his friends added, the rest laughing. "So you came into this huge store to get something this worthless? How unshameful can you be, bro?" Another retorted. Ricardo put an arm on Adrian's shoulder. "You know, bro. I hate the likes of you. Nerds, book smart, bookworm. Everything in the brain but nothing in the pocket. You don't deserve Teresa. She belongs to someone like me. It will do you better if you stay away from her from now on. If you do that, I'll pay you a thousand dollars. What do you say?" What now? He was trying to buy Adrian away from his girlfriend? That too for a thousand dollars? Did he think Adrian was that petty just because he was having a hard time? "No thank you!" He refused, not even sparing Ricardo and his gang a stare. The cashier returned Adrian's card. "You can go now sir. Thank you for shopping with us." "Shopping?" They laughed. "He probably bought the cheapest thing out here. See how dirty that thing is, how do you even do business with that?" Ignoring their taunts and laughter, he walked out of the supermarket, avoiding a conflict. Afterall he knew if anything happened, he was probably going to prison while the rich man's son will be let off freely. He knew better than to fall in their trap. He had always ignored them, he would keep ignoring them. As long as Teresa and him kept loving each other. Adrian sped away with his belongings. He had to reach home on time. He had to change into better wears. Tonight was a special night and he had to make it unforgettable. For Teresa, for his love. * As Adrian paid the driver and they drove away, he turned around to behold the unimaginable beauty of the venue. It was unlike any party he had ever seen. It was even crazier to think that all these was organized by the student body, headed by Ricardo Rodriguez. Ricardo Rodriguez, the son of Federico Rodriguez, one of the wealthiest men in the city. He was one of those kids who never had to do anything for money in their life, yet they had it in vast abundance. Unlike Adrian who had to work three jobs part time plus school work before he could buy a diamond necklace for Teresa. He took another look at the beautifully wrapped present. He was going to present it to her in front of everyone. Almost every student would be present. In the eyes of everyone, he planned to finally make their relationship official. Yes they had been hanging out for three years and anyone would decode that they were together, but they never really announced our relationship. "I can't wait to see the smile on your face, Teresa." He smiled to himself as he imagined her beautiful face in his mind. Crystal eyes, cute lips, she was all he ever wanted. The only person who didn't look down on him for being a scholarship student. Adrian checked his phone to see if Teresa had replied his message on Snapchat yet. She hadn't even viewed it yet. Maybe she had been busy all day so he decided to call her before heading in. 'The number you have called is not responding. You can try again later.' Dang. He should just go in and check on her. As he made his way into the brightly decorated edifice, Adrian's eyes dangled in every direction, searching around for Teresa. "Hey, have you seen Teresa?" He saw Lily, one of her mates from the department. "Ohh yesss... I think she went through that door..." She said nonchalantly, pointing in the direction of an open door. It was obvious she didn't want to talk to Adrian. She considered him a stain, worthless. He was surely unworthy of Teresa's love. She hoped Teresa would get rid of him soon. Lily's directives led deeper into the club. "Alright thank you." He passed briskly through there, not bothering to read the large and shining inscription just by the doorway. Emerging at a different room, ten times more beautiful than the other one, he searched around for Teresa again. As he moved around, he could feel the eyes of disgust shooting lasers at him. Everyone who saw him sneered. "Oh... This loser!" "Who let him in?" "Even the cleaners look better than this! No way he could have afforded a ticket." "Yea... His girlfriend must have paid for him." His appearance was in complete contrast to every single person in this special room. They all glittered while he stood ordinary even though he had picked his best outfit for this occasion. Yet he couldn't waste his time minding their annoyance. He just needed to find Teresa. "Not her... Not her... There she is!" Adrian recognized her beautiful red hair from behind. Teresa was seated beside the figure of an unknown man, and they seemed deep in conversation. "Excuse me sir, this place is reserved for VIP guests only." He heard a voice come behind him, but he was already walking towards Teresa. "Just a minute please. I just need to..." The words stuck in his throat as his legs stopped to move. The man beside Teresa was Ricardo Rodriguez and he was kissing his girlfriend in public, while she was cuddling up to him as he touched her in inappropriate places.Expand

Chosen By The System To Play God   Chapter Three Hundred Three
Lyu sat alone on a hard plastic bench near his departure gate, a single suitcase resting against his leg, watching the departure board flicker through its endless rotation of cities and times without truly seeing any of it. His mind had drifted backward, unwillingly, to the room he was in just a few hours ago.Melissa's voice still echoed in his ears, cold and satisfied, delivering her ultimatum with the same casual cruelty she had always worn like perfume. You will do exactly as I ask, or your daughter dies. It really is that simple, Lyu. That was the way she made her threat just after the call ended in her room. Lyana had been captured, and only Lyu could save her now. The only way to do that was to obey Melissa's instructions. She had wanted someone dead. She had refused to name the target outright, only informing him that the man he needed to kill was currently in London, and that further instructions would reach him the moment he landed. It had unsettled him more than he cared to

Chosen By The System To Play God   Chapter Three Hundred Two
Melissa Rodriguez sat before her mirror, watching her own reflection age backward in her mind until she saw not the face of a chairwoman but the face of the young lady who had once stood in the grand hall, seconds away from having everything she had ever wanted. It had been her son's birthday, all those years ago, a celebration dressed up in gold and champagne, though the true occasion had never truly been only about her son at all. It had been about the envelope Sebastian Waters carried to the center of the room that evening, the way he had smiled at her with such genuine, undeserved warmth as he drew out the contract from within it, the pen he had pressed into her waiting hand. The entirety of Waters Holdings and Corporation, transferred fully into her name. She remembered the weight of that pen in her fingers, remembered how close she had come, how the ink had very nearly touched paper before everything collapsed around her."Stop!"James Halton's voice had cut through the celebrat

Chosen By The System To Play God   Chapter Three Hundred One
James Halton lowered his voice. "He is your husband?""Yes." The answer came easily. "And he is your boss. I guess it is not so over after all" A faint smirk touched her lips. The contradiction seemed to amuse her. James shook his head slowly. "What do you mean by that? I don't understand.""You understand perfectly.""No." He stood firm as she stepped closer. "I don't."She remained perfectly composed. James Halton's s jaw tightened as it dawned upon him. "No!" He said. "I will not do it.""Well, you have no choice." She responded. "I already paid you half of the money, you have to do the job. We have a deal.""Our deal was over the moment you tried to kill me".The woman said nothing. His words seemed to hold no meaning to her. James Halton looked toward the door through which Sebastian Waters had disappeared."He just stood here telling me how you're going to inherit everything if he dies."Her expression remained unreadable. "And that's exactly why it is the ripe time for him to t

Chosen By The System To Play God   Chapter Three Hundred
The woman came toward the two men with an effortless grace, a smile resting naturally upon her lips as though the entire evening belonged to her.She extended her hand toward James Halton. James Halton only stared at it. For a moment, he did not move. Her hand remained suspended between them, delicate and perfectly manicured, waiting for his response."James," Sebastian Waters said cheerfully, completely unaware of the storm that had suddenly erupted behind the younger man's eyes. "Allow me to introduce you properly."Sebastian gestured toward the woman beside him."This is my wife."James Halton finally looked at her face and his heart seemed to stop."My wife," Sebastian repeated proudly. "And the mother of my son."The woman smiled. "I have heard a lot about you," she said.James Halton swallowed. Doubts tried to force their way in but he knew that she was the same woman. There was no mistake. It was the same voice, the same eyes. It was indeed that same person who had once sat acr

Gets even better and better. Was afraid Adrian Blood was too soft, but with Virus now in his system, I can expect some really dark stuff from Adrian. BEAUTIFUL.
