Lucas slowly forced his eyes open.

A clean white ceiling entered his vision, which was weird.

Where was he? Heaven?

The surface under him was vibrating, which was the source of discomfort that had forced him awake.

To Lucas's surprise, he was lying on a bed.

When was the last time he had the luxury of lying on a bed with a roof over his head?

Lucas was confused.

Didn't he die?

His gaze hesitantly browsed across the room; he was there.

Two bunk beds with small study desks buried between them.

A basket of unwashed laundry stood next to a door that seemed to lead to a bathroom.

This was—

This was his dorm room back when he was in uni for sure.

A mix of doubt and disbelief crossed Lucas's face.

He jumped off the bed, bypassed his reading desk, and rushed to the window.

A hot breeze blew against his face the moment he drew the curtains open. His eyes snapped close instinctively.

Two seconds later he opened them again and was met with a scene that can only be described as hell.

It was just that this was his second time experiencing this same moment.

"Oh...so I came back." Lucas muttered to himself.

The ground under him shook violently as if it would give out any second soon, but he knew it wouldn't.

The day Earth fell was still vivid in his memory.

The prestigious and beautiful school environment that had earned a lot of praise for being the best in Seoul lay in ruins.

Buildings sank into the ground, and roads cracked open from within.

Cries of anguish and sorrow came from every direction.

There was no time to waste.

Lucas grabbed a school bag that was on top of the messy bed next to him.

Without caring who the owner was, he emptied everything inside.

Books, pens, and snacks fell on the ground.

Lucas looked at the packs of Chitos, bent down, and put them back into the bag expressionlessly.

It would come in handy later.

He walks to his closet and starts to shove things into the bag.

Clothes, soap, a toothbrush, and all the daily necessities he would need.

And the most important thing. Food.

Lucas walked to the small shared kitchen.

He opened the upper head cupboards, which were stuffed full.

Instant noodles, mini bags of rice, pasta, myeolxhi, ojingwochao, dried pollock, ham, miyeok, dried r****h strips, dried fernbrake, shiitake mushrooms, red beans, mung beans, potato chips, rice crackers... You could name them.

Drool ran down the side of Lucas's mouth.

He was from a rich family, and his dorm mates were equally well-off, so they never lacked food.

Then he thought of how he wandered through the apocalypse like a beggar unable to get even enough food to fill half his stomach.

It felt like it was just the day before that he lay on cold dirt, bleeding out from a stab injury to the chest.

Lucas almost wanted to ignore the situation and make a bowl of ramen for himself right there and then.

Fortunately, he was able to hold himself back with the shard of reasoning he had left.

It was okay. He would live better in this life.

Lucas was reluctant, but he knew carrying too many things would slow him down.

He needed to pack light.

The last thing was his phone.

Lucas walked back to his bed. He sleeps on the top bunk. Under him was Su Feng.

His half-Chinese, half-Korean roommate and opposites were Ryan and Teddy.

He wasn't sure if any of his friends were still alive by now, nor was he planning on looking for them.

Call it selfish, but Lucas could barely take care of himself.

He had no time to care for others.

When he turned on his phone, a face that was both familiar and, at the same time, unfamiliar entered his vision.

Charlotte.

The name left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Charlotte was Lucas's fiancee. The same fiancee who would unfortunately betray him in the future.

Lucas put the wandering thoughts aside and checked his phone.

Unsurprisingly, there was no network.

Although phones weren't useful at the beginning of the apocalypse, in the second year internet connection was restored, and they became even more valued.

Lucas hung his backpack on his shoulder and took one last long look at the dorm room.

This was day one of the apocalypse.

He was back.

Lucas' room was on the second floor. He didn't take the stairs; instead, he grabbed a chair and smashed the only window in the room open.

The noise was easily ignored in the midst of the hellish cries and wrathful roars.

Lucas carefully stepped over the frame; his hands felt upwards and then gripped an overhead pipe.

He then skillfully washed himself on the narrow concrete ledge running alongside the building.

Securing a tight grip, he started to move.

Under him was hard concrete; he needed somewhere he could get a soft landing.

The distance from the ground was high and was enough to make someone dizzy, yet Lucas jumped down with an impassive expression.

His legs landed firmly on the ground.

His destination was the female dorm building.

When Lucas arrived, he didn't enter. He just stood outside the building and looked up.

In the frenzy, one could hear the sharp whoosh of a helicopter's blades swirling in the air.

A logo of a horse wearing a gold crown was visibly printed on the body of the helicopter.

It was the Harrington family's logo.

From where he stood he saw two girls surrounded by body guards in black being escorted into the helicopter.

As if sensing his gaze, one of the girls glanced back and coincidentally met his gaze.

"Lucas!.." Charlotte shouted at him with both a mixture of relief and surprise. "Lucas, come up; we have been trying to reach you. Quickly come; it is dangerous. Uncle sent a helicopter to pick us up."

Her words almost made Lucas laugh.

The girl standing next to Charlotte looked down at him coldly. She had long, straight black hair that fell down to her waist, and her facial features look 9 points similar to his.

It was his younger sister, Isabella.

"It is too late. The building is unstable, and we can't let the helicopter land for a minute longer." She pulled on Charlotte and then said to Lucas. "Brother I hope you are able to understand. Dad said that an emergency base has been created near Icheon. You can try and meet us there. We will be waiting for you."

It was the same word as in his past life.

Back then Lucas had nodded along understandingly.

He couldn't risk their life for his. He thought. It was the only way.

But now he only wanted to flip them the middle finger.

So he did just that.

Lucas held up his middle finger and mouthed with indifferent eyes. "Fuck you all."

Something was coming! That damn goblin. Lucas cursed in his head. His thoughts moved swiftly. Behind the cave entrance was a large stone boulder about the size of two grown men joined together. Lucas slipped behind it, back pressed flat against the wall. A rancid, foul stench of rotten flesh and decay enveloped him from all sides. Lucas felt a new presence enter the cave. Lucas subconsciously clamps a hand around his nose. Ugh...it smelled so bad. The foul odor was 10 times worse than before. He could bear the stench of rolling in gutters and going through dumpsters to search for food. Yet this has gone way past his limit! The ground under him shook. Thoom...thoom...thoom... Then a large green figure slowly came into his view. Lucas's eyes trembled with recognition. A king goblin! That ugly-assed goblin led him here on purpose. The king goblin stood several heads taller than an average man with a huge, towering build. The goblin king held a club with spikes in one

  • forcefully pulled into a dungeon, again!

"That's the craziest part." The first speaker's voice shook as he recalled. Just as we thought everything was over, a black hole suddenly appeared. I thought I was seeing things at first, but then both Parker and Sarah suddenly disappeared. They were definitely swallowed by the black hole!" Lucas's eyes twitched. He could easily guess that the black hole was a dungeon, but what drew his attention was the appearance of fire users. An awakened one. These were people who awakened systems after the apocalypse. Not everyone could awaken a system and possess an ability. Despite the amount of resources poured into the research, Base-A scientists were unable to give specific criteria on how these people were chosen. Those who were awakened could control elements and spatial fields and heal. They were also stronger and faster than normal people. But the awakened also had ranks. They were. A B C D And S. Up until he died, there was only one person that held that rank. Gabriel.

  • Appearance of a dungeon in City C.

The door of the sports car was open; Lucas peered inside and saw that the key was actually in the ignition. What luck! He checked the fuel tank, and his excitement died. No fuel. Who goes around driving a sports car with no fuel? Lucas grumbled in his head, but he didn't give up. He searched the cars around and was able to find a hose and a gallon. He skillfully drained fuel from the surrounding vehicles and filled the red sports cars. Lucas opened the back seat and tossed in the gallon of remaining fuel. It might come in handy later. He entered the driver's seat and turned the car on. The engine vibrates under his hand, and the car springs to life with a low growl. Lucas trembled with excitement. Firstly, he gingerly turned up the car heating until the inside became comfortably warm. The chill in his limbs slowly melted away. That's better. Lucas shifted the gear into drive and slammed down on the accelerator. The red car shot forward like an arrow a

  • Expressway to City C.

He would have to do this alone. Lucas breathed in slowly, and his hand moved to retrieve the knife in his pocket. Two glowing yellow eyes locked on his every movement. Ground hogs. That was the name of the creatures. Just one of them was enough trouble for a D-ranked player, not to talk of him, who was a normal person and without any ability. The groundhogs let out a gru..lu..lu.. sound and attacked him at the same time. Lucas sidestepped a claw aimed at his chest. A vicious breeze struck his head. Without thinking, he ducked forward, tucked in, and rolled over. The feeling of razor-sharp teeth brushing through his hair almost made his legs give out. Lucas tightened his grip on the knife. Gru...lu...lu...lu... One in front and one behind, the groundhogs moved in perfect synchronization. Fuck. Lucas clenched his fist, eyes darting around while dodging the attacks that came from all sides. To the left a row of jagged teeth snapped at his shoulder. Lucas spun to avoid it.

  • Pulled into an abyss.

Lucas took it all with relish. He couldn't help but pity the poor boy who had hurried along to base C with all the struggles only to be informed that his family had moved to base A a long time ago. Was it difficult to send a rescue team to find him? No. His family remained influential even after the apocalypse. If they wanted to, they could. It was Lucas that was too stupid to see the truth then. No one cared. Before and after the apocalypse, he remained a burden that his parents couldn't wait to get rid of. He didn't wait to send the helicopter off with his eyes like he did in his past life. Instead, he was the one who walked away this time. Leaning on them, he had a view of his straight back."Lucas, I am sorry. Lucas!! Lucas, stay alive, okay! Lucas...Lucas...I will wait for you, okay? Charlotte's voice slowly faded away. Better not. Lucas wanted to tell her. If he returned to the Harrington family, the Whitmore family, and those who conspired to harm him, none of them
