Eyes of darkness

The large smirk on Lucifer’s face plastered across Lucifer’s face seemed to be the most noticeable thing in the bright flames.

“I’ve grown weak” Lucifer said in a low but deep voice clear but also indiscernible to all present only Damian heard him clearly.

“What do you mean?” Damian couldn’t help but ask, according to what he could see of the present situation Lucifer and Kale seemed evenly matched.

“Watch…” Lucifer said a single word, Damian wanted to complain that he was obviously paying attention to the bout but Lucifer’s next words cut him short “… not with your eyes with your senses”.

As Lucifer said Damian began to observe the energies colliding with his senses and not by the appearance of the energies he could see, as he observed although unclear as he just started, he could slowly make out the true battle taking place, one thing also became clear the flames were gradually losing the battle of strength.

“But how…” Damian wanted to question but was interrupted.

“I can sense it, you’re beginning to feel the energies around you but I know it won’t be enough, let me give you a little help there” as Lucifer suddenly said, Damian felt his sense of sight suddenly changed, contrary to how he used to see things before, his current sight was all black and white.

“Did I go blind” Damian mumbled to himself.

“No, this is a sight multiple times better than the things you call eyes” Lucifer replied not forgetting to mock the human eyes.

“I don’t get it” Damian replied, still a bit confused about the turn of events.

“I lent you my vision or rather I allowed you to perceive things using my type of vision. In other words, this is how I see” Lucifer explained briefly and what he got in response was a short burst of laughter that went on for a while, but upon sensing the seriousness on Lucifer’s face, Damian’s laughter slowly came to an end in the awkward situation.

“Wait, you weren’t joking?” Damian asked rhetorically, a bit surprised now.

“As you’ll notice you can’t see anything at all, just the general outline of some figures, like Kale in front of you, you can only see his outline and nature of his energy” Lucifer ignored Damian’s question and continued speaking, noticing he was serious Damian too took up a serious expression and decided to listen, listening to what Lucifer was saying he found his words to be true.

Of course when his way of perceiving things with his eyes changed it wasn’t that he was totally blind, but he was too surprised about the change that he didn’t even try to observe what the change brought about resulting in him only seeing black and white so therefore the thought he had suddenly become blind drifted into his mind but listening to Lucifer he realized that for him to actually see he needed to focus, not with his eyes but with his other senses.

“Isn’t this stressful, how’s your focus so easily divided” Damian quickly became both confused and surprised as he commented lazily.

After realizing that his words had sunk in Lucifer said after a moment of silence not forgetting to mock the human eye again “Quality or quality, I guess. You’ll get used to it eventually”.

Immediately Lucifer went silent Damian heard a ring in his head followed by the list of messages, something he hadn’t seen in a while.

“Lucifer, are you seeing this?” Damian asked but received no reply, he had a feeling all these system things were linked to Lucifer but he wasn’t sure as the last time the messages appeared Lucifer couldn’t see them.

“I accept human, you have some strength to back up your composure” Lucifer said loudly as he immediately canceled his flames, immediately the fog moved to invade Lucifer’s side of the dome but Kale happened to cancel out his powers in time to prevent any mishaps.

“I can tell you held back your powers but you still aren’t strong enough” Lucifer said after the place had gone back to normal, he spoke as if he was the one assessing Kale and not the other way around.

‘I have to keep this boy’s potential under wraps and I think he just might be the best way to get Sofia in…’ Kale had already begun to think about how he could use Damian to achieve a lot of things that he totally ignored what Luci said.

“Dismissed” Kale said to Damian before turning about and heading out of the hall, seeing as it would be awkward to remain there Sofia quickly ran after her father leaving Damian alone in the hall.

Gasp!!!

Heavy breathing could be heard coming from Damian’s room as a scream followed. In the room he could be seen sitting on the bed touching his face, his eyes to be specific.

“Am I blind” Damian questioned himself anxiously as he reminisced what happened the day before.

[New quest has been acquired]

After the barrage of notifications Damian tried to speak to Lucifer but he realized that Lucifer had continued his duel with Kale, so he was on his own.

“I wish this system would explain a little…” Damian was contemplating with himself on whether to accept or not but during this period the system responded much to his surprise.

[Punishment: -7 from all stats]

[Reward: New skill unlocked- eyes of darkness]

“Oh” Damian simply exclaimed lightly upon seeing the system’s response, of course a deduction from his stats was the last thing he would want but even he couldn’t help but wondered if the system actually had such capabilities to reduce his stats. He wasn’t willing to give it a try, and there was nothing wrong in trying out a new form of vision, and if it was the same type of vision Lucifer showed him and he could unlock it as a skill for himself it would be a great boon to him.

“What’s the worst that could happen?” he told himself while smiling wryly.

“Accept quest” Damian said in his mind.

[Host has accepted the quest]

Those were the last things he remembered before now.

“Wait, if it was successful it means my sight has only been changed and I’m not blind, then I’ll have to calm down. Lucifer said to focus” Damian calmed himself down taking deep breaths, he sat on his bed with his legs crossed to maximize focus and closed his eyes.
