The "Sky Dome" Auction House was the gathering place for the city's top 1%. Tonight, the parking lot was filled with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bugattis.
But when a convoy of ten Rolls-Royces arrived, all the other supercars looked like cheap toys.
Lucas stepped out, wearing a white handmade suit today, looking like a Prince Charming. Anna followed him closely, holding the auction catalog.
"Chairman, tonight's finale is the 'Heart of the Ocean' blue diamond necklace. It was worn by a European Queen," Anna whispered. "The estimated price is 20 million dollars."
"Only 20 million?" Lucas adjusted his cufflinks. "Cheap."
They walked into the VIP box on the second floor. From here, they could look down on the entire hall.
In the first row of the hall sat a young man with dyed blonde hair. He was Leo, the young master of the Gold Family (a family slightly richer than the bankrupt Blackwood family).
Beside Leo sat a woman who captured everyone's attention.
She had silver-white hair and wore a cold, blue evening gown. Her skin was as pale as snow, and her eyes were indifferent to everything.
She was Chloe, the "Ice Goddess" of the Capital. Her background was mysterious, but even the City Mayor had to bow to her.
"Miss Chloe," Leo tried to flatter her. "I heard you like blue diamonds. I will buy the 'Heart of the Ocean' for you tonight as a birthday gift!"
Chloe didn't even look at him. She just sipped her tea. "I can buy it myself."
Leo felt embarrassed but smiled awkwardly. "Haha, let me show my sincerity."
...
Soon, the auction began.
Antique vases, paintings, and gold watches were sold one by one. Lucas sat in the VIP box, eyes closed, almost falling asleep. These "treasures" were trash in his eyes.
"And now! The moment you've all been waiting for!"
The auctioneer shouted excitedly. The lights dimmed, and a spotlight hit the center stage.
A necklace with a thumb-sized deep blue diamond sparkled blindingly.
"The Heart of the Ocean! Starting price: 5 Million dollars!"
"6 Million!" "7 Million!"
The bidding was fierce.
Leo straightened his back. He glanced at Chloe, then raised his paddle confidently.
"10 Million!"
The hall went quiet. Raising the price by 3 million at once? Young Master Leo was rich!
"11 Million," an old collector bid.
"15 Million!" Leo shouted again, looking at the old man provocatively. "Old man, don't fight with me. The Gold Family wants this!"
The old man sighed and gave up.
"15 Million going once! Twice..."
Leo smiled triumphantly. He turned to Chloe. "See? Only I am worthy of giving you..."
"50 Million."
A calm voice drifted down from the VIP box on the second floor.
The entire hall froze. The auctioneer dropped his hammer. Leo's jaw dropped.
50 Million?! Someone raised the bid from 15 million directly to 50 million? Was he crazy? Or was money just paper to him?
Everyone looked up. They saw Lucas leaning against the railing, looking bored.
"Who is that?" "I don't know! A new face!"
Leo's face turned red. He felt humiliated in front of the Goddess. "You... 50 million is too much! It's not worth it!" Leo shouted at the box. "Are you doing this on purpose?"
Lucas glanced at him.
"You are too noisy."
Lucas raised his hand again.
"100 Million."
GASPS! Someone in the crowd fainted. 100 Million dollars for a necklace?! This broke the world record!
Leo collapsed in his chair. He couldn't compete. Even his father would kill him if he spent 100 million on a necklace.
"Going once! Going twice! Sold!" The auctioneer screamed, his voice cracking. "Sold to the gentleman in the VIP box!"
In the VIP box, Lucas turned to Anna. "Go pay. And... wrap it up."
"Chairman, are you going to wear it?" Anna asked carefully.
"No," Lucas smiled playfully. "I just bought it because it shines. Maybe I'll put it on my pet dog later."
Downstairs. Chloe, the Ice Goddess, finally raised her head. Her beautiful, cold eyes locked onto Lucas's figure.
For the first time in years, she felt curious.
"Who is he?" she whispered to her servant. "Check his background. Within one hour, I want all his information."
"Interesting... A dragon has finally appeared in this shallow pond."
