Chap 2 Abandoned Kid In Abandoned Building.

Circus embarked on his journey with only a handful of garments and some bread loaves stowed in his rucksack. His destination was none other than the Cedarland villages, the most inferior location within the Millennial Empire. These villages lay beyond Olese City, which held the dubious distinction of being the weakest and most inferior city in the entire empire.

These locations were infamous for being considered weak and inferior due to their significant population of non-awakened individuals. In addition, poverty and despair were said to reign supreme. However, it was a bit peaceful and secure for ordinary people when compared to other parts of the empire that had many awakened individuals.

In esteemed areas such as Oden, where Circus resided with his family, the awakened individuals constituted the majority of the population. A fierce rivalry for power and control prevailed, leaving no room for the non-awakened individuals who were relegated to the roles of mere servants, slaves, and individuals of low status.

In addition to garments and nourishment, he possessed water stored in a waterskin, a sum of 10 gold coins, and a total of 40 silver coins. His father bestowed upon him the 50 silver coins, of which he had already utilized 10 for his passage on the vessel. It was his mother who clandestinely presented him with 10 gold coins. 10 gold coins were a lot of money, especially for someone of low status like him.

In the Millennial Empire, the Millennial Coin was the official currency, but gold coins, silver coins, bronze coins, and platinum coins were the official currencies of the entire Unirvesalis. Meaning if one got millennial coins, he could not use them in other territories unless they were exchanged. But platinum coins, gold coins, silver coins, and bronze coins were versatile and could be used anywhere on the continent.

1 platinum coin was equal to 10 gold coins, while 1 gold coin was equivalent to 10 silver coins. Furthermore, 1 silver coin held the same value as 100 bronze coins. The scarcity of platinum coins made them exclusive to esteemed individuals such as nobles, merchants, government officials, and members of royal families.

Circus arrived at Olese port. He paid for a carriage there, which transported him away from the urban center. He proceeded on foot thereafter, as he desired to explore the land and select a pleasant abode.

The Cedarland villages were dispersed across the land, with the majority of the region being adorned with majestic cedars. The construction of most structures in this world primarily relied on stone, quarry, and sulphur, leaving wood as a material predominantly utilized by the poor. In fact, most buildings in Cedarland were constructed using wood.

Circus proceeded with his journey, traversing through various villages. Eventually, he reached a dense area where darkness started to envelop the surroundings. Exhausted from the long journey, the circus decides to turn back and seek refuge in the nearest village, which was an hour away from his current location. However, realizing that this option is not feasible, the circus embarks on a search for a more suitable place to rest within the woods. Despite feeling fearful, there is no alternative but to press on. After walking for an hour, no settlement was found yet.

As the sun began to set, fatigue settled in, and he grew weary of making the long journey back to the closest village, situated an hour away from his current location. Consequently, he embarked on a quest to find a more suitable refuge within the depths of the forest. Despite his apprehension, he found himself compelled to do so, as he had no other alternative. With each step, the darkness grew thicker, enveloping the surroundings in an eerie silence. The rustling of leaves and distant hoots of nocturnal creatures intensified his unease, but he knew he had to press on in search of shelter before nightfall.

He came to an old, one-story, abandoned building made of quarry. Although over half of it had collapsed, the remaining structure seemed sturdy enough to provide temporary shelter. Besides, it still had a roof.

He cautiously approached the entrance, noticing the broken windows and overgrown vegetation that had taken over the exterior. As he stepped inside, a musty smell filled his nostrils, and he could see remnants of a forgotten past scattered across the floor. Despite its dilapidated state, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief as he realized this decaying building could be his refuge for the night.

"Pewf, finally, I have a nice place for the night." Circus muttered to himself with his hands holding his waist.

He discovered that only half of the apparent living room remained intact, with a pathway leading to four rooms. On either side, there were two rooms, both without doors, yet still in good condition.

Circus made the choice to rest in a room situated on the left side. Consequently, the room was oriented towards the north. It happened to be the only room that possessed a damaged door. Circus managed to fix the door, ensuring it stood upright, and strategically positioned rocks to reinforce it, thus deterring any potential interference from wild creatures.

"Just for tonight, tomorrow I will find some place near the village to stay," Circus muttered to himself as he settled down for the night. He hoped that by morning he would be able to find a safer and more permanent shelter in the vicinity of the village."

The night was filled with terror and dread. Every noise sent shivers down his spine. The situation worsened as unknown creatures repeatedly pounded on his doors. It felt as though he had already entered the realm of the dead. Fortunately, he managed to survive, and the first thing he did upon realizing that morning had arrived was to find solace in a peaceful slumber once again.
