"What did you say? Did I hear wrong?" Hua Fei was the one laughing this time. He felt very amused when he heard Jing Yanxi's words about putting himself first and never being humble to anyone. "And I think a donkey is even smarter than you. I don't think even a frog is inferior to that arrogant you!"

"How dare you laugh at our young master, Hua Feeei!" One of Jing Yanxi's men shouted. He really couldn't stand their young master being insulted and called names by someone who, to them, Hua Fei was just a child with no abilities other than a nerd.

"Move!" Hua Fei shouted as he ran over to Jing Ling after crashing into Jing Yanxi's body and pushing one of the young master of the Jing Family's men to the ground. The boy repeatedly rubbed his brother's clothes to clean the dust and other dirt stuck to his little brother's body. The little boy asked with a worried face. "Junior Brother Ling, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Brother Fei. Don't worry!" Jing Ling answered as she took a stance. "Brother Fei get out of the way! I'll take them all on!"

"Little brother, calm down! I'm here to defend you!" Hua Fei said as he lowered the bamboo basket containing the snake, then placed the dangerous object a little away from the fighting arena. Hua Fei immediately returned to Jing Ling's side and got ready to face Jing Yanxi and his followers, totaling six children their age.

Jing Ling turned her face and whispered, "Brother, go home first to find mother or Uncle Cheng. I'll deal with them all!"

"No, Little Brother Ling! I won't leave you alone to face danger! Moreover, this Jing Yanxi is a cunning and cheating child." Hua Fei replied while clenching his fists. The boy's eyes continued to stare intently at the children who were starting to move around the two of them. "We will face them together!"

"Okay. But be careful, Brother Fei!" Jing Ling was forced to agree to her senior apprentice-brother's intentions.

"So, do you feel like you're good enough to face us?" Jing Yanxi took a few steps forward with his hands on his hips and spat harshly. "Tch! Only weak, malnourished children from ostracized families!"

Laughter erupted again, making Jing Ling and Hua Fei even more angry. Both of them felt increasingly hurt by the harsh treatment of Jing Yanxi and his friends. Jing Ling, who didn't have the patience of her older sister, suddenly came forward and immediately delivered a raw punch to Jing Yanxi's face.

The boy, who was taller and bigger than Jing Ling, suddenly screamed loudly while holding his face. However, Jing Ling was still not satisfied with just throwing one punch. This main disciple of Hua Yan had been unleashing a series of follow-up blows.

"Young Master!" Some of Jing Yanxi's followers became hysterical when they witnessed the brutality of a small Jing Ling who was beating their master.

"How about this?" asked the fat boy with a worried face.

His skinny friend answered in a worried tone. "How else? Shouldn't we help him? Otherwise, young master could be battered!"

"That's right. I'm afraid that the old master will also scold our parents and we will all be punished very severely!" The fat boy answered.

"Let's move forward together! Let's teach that traitorous child a good lesson!" Another child exclaimed.

Hua Fei, who saw the movements of the other six children, immediately moved quickly to block their footsteps. There was not the slightest hint of fear or trepidation in the boy's eyes. His face looked relaxed, but the aura he radiated managed to shake the opponent's heart.

"Hey, Stop! Your opponent is me! Come on, let's fight one on one and don't you dare just cheat by playing gangs. You sneaky bastard!" Hua Fei exclaimed as he assumed a sturdy stance.

"Hey, Hua Fei! Why are you interfering in the Jing Family's affairs?" asked the fat boy in an unhappy tone.

Hua Fei stared intently at the children dressed in Jing Family uniforms and replied, "Little Brother Ling is my brother. So, I will defend him and will not allow anyone to harm him, including all of you!"

"Heh, Hua Fei! He is just the son of a family traitor. Just think about it, is he worthy of special treatment from you?" The boy with thick bangs asked.

"That's right, Hua Fei! Why are you staying beside him? It's better if you join us!" said the fat man with plump cheeks that looked like steamed buns. He offered to let Hua Fei join their group.

"Whether he's worthy or not. Just ask my Death Sledgehammer fist!" Hua Fei suddenly attacked the fat boy's temple with a punching move taught by his uncle Hua Yan. Even though it is only a basic stage move, it is enough to provide a lesson for children who do not master martial arts.

The fat boy's body swayed due to the pain and dizziness in his head. The stocky boy's vision became blurry and dizzy. Before the pain had disappeared, a blow to his chin managed to make him fall to the ground.

"Faaaat!" Jing Yanxi's other followers shouted hysterically. They all looked furious after the fall of their friend at the hands of Hua Fei.

One of them shouted angrily. "Hua Feiii! You really defended the son of that traitor!"

"Don't talk too much!" Hua Fei didn't pay any attention to what they said about Jing Ling's father. For him, he would be on the front line when his brother was in danger.

"Come on! Who else wants to feel my fist?" Hua Fei challenged by raising his fist while grinning sinisterly.

"Hah! You think we're afraid of your cheap moves?" A medium-sized boy with a mole on the left of his nose came forward and immediately attacked Hua Fei recklessly.

"So move forward together, so that you will fall together too!" Hua Fei shouted challengingly at the children of the Jing Family. Hua Fei just didn't want these six kids to gang up on Jing Ling, so he was willing to sacrifice himself for his young brother.

Unequal fights do occur, but Hua Fei is also not an ordinary child. He was a disciple of the Cloud Valley Sect, and Hua Yan's nephew. It could also be said that the martial arts knowledge he has mastered is quite advanced for a beginner. What's more, what he is currently facing are children who don't have any vocational knowledge.

"Aaaaaaa!"

A loud screech could be heard from the direction of the fighting arena between Hua Fei and six of Jing Yanxi's men. Someone was thrown out of the small fighting circle and the other six people immediately stopped their attacking movements.

"Idiot!" While cursing, Hua Lin landed a slap as swift as a flying arrow, hitting Hua Feng's temple squarely. "Aaah!" Hua Feng screamed so loudly that a few people turned to look at him. Hua Lin didn't care about the gazes of those around them. He continued scolding Hua Feng. "Of course it's not a talisman, it's something to ward off the danger of starvation!" 'Why did I have to meet someone as stupid as him?' Hua Lin felt unlucky in this regard. Hua Feng had no chance to dodge. The slap wasn’t that hard, but it was strong enough to make his body stagger sideways, nearly losing his balance. 'Ward off the danger of starvation? Isn't that just food?' Hua Feng began to understand what his senior meant. Hua Feng rubbed his temple, which had grown a little warm. He groaned in annoyance. "Young Master, you're torturing me again!" "Young Master is always like this. I was just asking a question, but instead, Young Master oppressed me." Hua Feng’s expression turned sad, his lips poutin

"Then I’ll push him to agree!" Mu Lei suddenly declared firmly. Mu Lei was an outsider who had once been saved by Hua Yan during the bloody tragedy of the Mu Tribe five years ago, when a rebellion broke out between the "dirty clothes" and "clean clothes" factions within the tribe, nearly costing him his life to be beheaded. However, it seemed the gods had sent Hua Yan just when his life was hanging by a thread. He narrowly escaped death at the sword of Mu Yan, the Mu Tribe’s traitor, all thanks to Hua Yan’s help. Since that day, he vowed to dedicate his life to repaying the man who had saved him. Even though Hua Yan had long since freed him and never brought it up again, Mu Lei stubbornly insisted on serving as Hua Yan’s guardian, as well as his family’s. "Very well. We’ll see," said Elder Hua Lei this time. Everyone could only hope that Hua Yan wouldn’t mind the security preparations they had made this time. Meanwhile, over at Hua Lin’s courtyard, the young man looked extremely

Hua Yan and Jing Yue stopped their activity, exchanging complex glances tinged with slight disappointment. Both of them steadied their breathing and tried to calm themselves. “Mother, don’t you want to say something to me before I leave?” Jing Ling’s voice startled both his parents. “That naughty boy again!” Hua Yan was slightly annoyed by the shout from behind the door. He let out a small huff, then reluctantly released his embrace. Jing Yue only gave a faint smile at the disappointment on her husband's face, then replied, “Just a moment, Ah Ling. I’m preparing everything your father needs.” Outside the door, Jing Ling furrowed his brows with a slight question in his heart. What exactly were his parents doing in there on a hot midday like this? However, he didn’t want to think too deeply about it. In the end, the young man said, “Alright, Mother. I’m sorry if I disturbed you and Father. I’ll wait outside!” “Very well,” replied Jing Yue from inside the room. Jing Ling’s footste

Hua Lin busied himself loading dried food and snacks into his bag. The sweet aroma of honey and the sharp tang of spices filled his nose, bringing a comforting sensation amid the chaos of preparation. He added one more bottle of honey before pausing, eyeing the bulging pouch. “Ah, this might be too heavy,” Hua Lin thought as he scratched his head. There was a sense of reluctance in reducing even a few items. His eyes kept drifting toward the pile of his favorite snacks, making it hard to part with any of them. But… what if they laugh at me later? he murmured inwardly, before finally lifting the entire load with a satisfied smile. But if I cut down my supplies, I’d regret it. Hua Lin scratched his head again despite it not itching. What now? What if they make fun of me? Ah, whatever. What’s the point of worrying about that? Better safe than sorry, Hua Lin thought as he hoisted his belongings. Besides, we’ll be riding in a carriage. What’s there to worry about? Alright then. Won’t

Meanwhile, Jing Ling began preparing everything needed for supplies during the journey. One of his caretakers was also involved in the flurry of activity. In the corner of the room, Su Ruo, Jing Ling’s loyal caretaker, was folding clothes with utmost care. Her delicate fingers trembled slightly, as if each piece of fabric carried a weight of emotion. “Young Master.” Su Ruo’s voice sounded hoarse, with a bitterness she could not conceal. “This time, you’ll be going to a place that is unfamiliar and far away. Auntie hopes you’ll be careful and not reckless.” “Hmm.” Jing Ling only responded with a soft grunt while wrapping his new spear in a red cloth. He glanced at Su Ruo with an indifferent look. Su Ruo continued in a softer tone, almost a whisper, “You must also follow Master’s advice. Don’t trouble him during the journey.” With a calm demeanor, Jing Ling replied, “Auntie Ruo, don’t worry. I’m grown up and I know what I have to do.” Su Ruo sighed and returned to her task. “Aunti

Her eyes, blurring Jing Yunxi’s vision. She could only wipe them away silently in a voiceless cry. Her tears fell and shattered like her hope to meet Hua Fei, the one she adored. ‘This sorrow feels like an endless nightmare in the dark of night. This longing is more bitter than bile. Yet the wall between us is so strong and arrogant.’ Jing Yunxi wept quietly in her heart as she walked under the cruel gaze of Jing Yue behind her back. Meanwhile, behind another wall, Hua Fei stood tall like a frozen statue. There was a trace of disappointment on his handsome face, along with helplessness. In the end, he could only lower his head in sadness. Beside Hua Fei, a man in a blue robe gently patted his shoulder. “There are things more important than a woman, and you must be able to choose between them.” “Ah Fei understands, Uncle.” Hua Fei gave a faint, bitter smile. “Prepare to leave,” Hua Yan said as he walked away. “Yes, Uncle.” Hua Fei responded with a respectful bow even though his u
