005. Y'all Will Pay!

Michaela hesitated for only a second before forcing herself to trust him.

She snatched the pill from his hand.

Without another word, she turned to leave.

After taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and turned back, pointing a warning finger at Ethan.

“If anything goes wrong because of these pills. I will turn your life into ashes. Don’t mess with me.”

Then she walked away without waiting for a response.

Ethan watched her retreating figure and smiled faintly.

She was lucky he had that pill on him.

It was the last one left from his practice the previous week.

If he hadn’t carried it along, her condition might have worsened before morning.

Seeing her leave, Ethan exhaled and lowered himself onto the narrow bench inside the cell.

“My Lord.”

The respectful voice made Ethan look up immediately.

He rose to his feet and saw LeVert standing outside the bars.

There was no usual playful grin on LeVert’s face.

Instead, he looked almost guilty.

“I am so sorry you had to spend thirty minutes in this jail,” He added.

Well, Ethan brushed the apology aside with a calm wave of his hand.

“It’s nothing,” he replied. “Where are the officers? And what decision did you all come to?”

“You’ve been proven innocent for now,” Gerald LeVert answered almost immediately. “We’re free to leave these walls.”

As if on cue, an officer stepped forward and unlocked the cell.

Ethan stepped out.

But his expression did not soften. His fingers pressed deeply into his palms, showcasing the length of his anger.

Without saying another word, he walked through the precinct, signed the necessary documents, and headed toward his car parked outside.

Just when he was about to enter the car, a voice called out behind him.

“Ethan!”

He paused.

Slowly, he turned around.

And to his shock, it was Ava.

She stood a few steps away, holding a set of documents tightly against her chest.

Beside her was her mother, Katherine.

The sight of Ava stirred nothing but ANGER in him.

He had already given up on her.

As Ava stepped forward, Ethan shut the car door firmly and walked toward them.

“What do you want from me?” he asked flatly.

“I just want to settle the scores with you, Ethan!” Challenged Ava.

“I heard you were released and proven innocent… but that won’t change my decision.”

Ethan scoffed. “So, you are here because you heard I'm out of jail? Well, what difference does it make? Does it still change the fact that you knew I didn’t do any of those things, Yet you bore false witness against me…”

He did not finish when a dirty slap landed on his face.

Katherine just slapped Him!

“Are you trying to say my daughter is a liar?” Katherine yelled. “How dare you accuse her after everything she has done for you?”

“Mom…” Ava quickly reached for her mother’s arm, attempting to pull her back but Katherine maintained her STAND!

“No, Ava, you don't have to tell me to stop!” Katherine yelled, pointing at Ethan.

“I have always kept quiet, watching how you lived as a son-in-law under my roof, playing silly love games with my daughter. Do you think I would stand here and watch you become an ingrate to her?”

Ethan pointed back at Katherine, firing her back;

“Your precious daughter cheated on me with Liam Paige. She cheated on me without a second thought!”

Katherine smiled faintly, as though his words carried no weight.

Ethan let out a dry laugh. “Was that funny, huh?” he demanded.

“More than funny, Ethan,” Ava replied coldly.

She stepped forward, lifting her chin. “I stayed with you for three good years, yet I don’t have a single good memory to hold onto. I may not have compared you to other men, but you never did anything tangible for me.”

Her eyes hardened. “I didn’t cheat on you because of Liam. I did that out of my own will. Liam has been the one providing for this family. He helped elevate my family’s status and grow my company. He sponsored our business and even secured us a contract with Murfers Empire!”

Ethan let out a bitter chuckle immediately when he heard Ava's last line.

Every word she spoke was a lie.

He was the one who had done all those things for her.

He had funded the company.

He had arranged the sponsorship.

Even the contract with Murfers Empire had been meant as a surprise for their anniversary.

But Liam had stepped in, claimed the credit, and stolen the glory.

Ethan could have exposed everything right there.

But his identity was at stake.

He had already decided not to reveal who he truly was to Ava. And so, he swallowed the truth.

“And you’re confident Liam did all those things for you?” Ethan asked calmly, but an unknown voice gave the response from behind.

“I didn’t do all those things for her, I made all those things possible for Ava.”

A voice cut in from behind.

They all turned, and saw Liam Paige!

He stepped out of a luxurious car worth over $120 million, a bouquet of fresh flowers in his hand.

Adjusting his suit jacket, Liam walked toward them with effortless confidence.

He stopped beside Ava and wrapped an arm around her waist. “You can have this, my love,” he murmured, handing her the flowers before pressing a possessive hug against her.

Then he turned to Ethan.

Ethan’s fists were clenched so tightly as his teeth ground together, and jealousy vibrated through him.

Seeing Ethan's reaction, Liam smirked

“You have always been worthless, Ethan. From being a Useless car wash and delivery man to my company, to being the unworthy husband of the beautiful Ava Lugards, down to becoming a murderer and an ex-convict. Now, what are you? A divorced LOSER!”

Ava and her mother giggled under their breath, while Liam continued taunting Ethan.

“You know what, Ethan? I even offered you a job as a delivery man in my company, but that didn’t work for you. You still found a way to annoy my customers. What kind of fool are you?”

“So that’s the reason you stole my wife and claimed to do those things for her?” Ethan shot back, stepping forward. “You’re a filthy liar, Liam and people like you don't deserve any form of….”

SLAP!

Ava raised her hand on Ethan, slapping him hard across the face.

“Don’t you ever raise your voice at my fiancé,is that clear?” she snapped angrily.

FIANCÉ?

The word rang in Ethan’s ears.

“We’re engaged, Ethan and in no time, we’ll be married.”

Ethan shook his head!

So, Ava truly cheated on him for real?

And also… this has been going on for quite a time now?

As Ethan thought this to himself, Katherine snatched the files in Ava’s hand and flung them at Ethan.

“These are the divorce papers! Sign them and get your ass out of my house!” She barked.

Liam and Ava giggled, their fingers intertwined as they watched him.

Ethan felt something inside him snap.

He looked at them one after the other—Liam, then Katherine, and finally Ava.

As he did this, the image of Ava in Liam’s arms, the intimate photo, and the sex video all played on his mind.

His anger increased.

He couldn't bear this.

Without another word, Ethan bent down, picked up the pen, and signed the divorce papers.

After all, this was what the entire Lugards family had wanted.

They've even been praying for a day like this all their lives. Especially Katherine.

And today? It finally happened!

Katherine quickly grabbed the signed documents, curling her lips in satisfaction. “Finally, my daughter is out of your clutches, Ethan.” She said triumphantly.

Ethan stared at them dangerously.

“Ava may be out of my clutches, but all of you are now in my bad book.”

Liam’s expression shifted after hearing this from Ethan.

He stepped forward and grabbed Ethan by the collar. “Are you threatening us?” he demanded.

Ethan shook his head.

“I am not threatening you or anybody,” he replied calmly, pushing Liam’s hand off his collar. “But I would advise you all to watch out for me!”

His gaze burnt with vengeance.

“Every single one of you will pay dearly for castigating me, humiliating me, and sending me to jail. I will make sure you all pay deeply. Mark my words.”

“It may seem as though you're curious, way more curious about the reason I called you here,” Cynthia started. “But far bigger than your curiosity, you've also been asking yourself one BIG question for the past three days now!” Ethan didn't want to jump to conclusions. His breath caught as he stared at her. “There is one question you've been wanting to ask me all these days, but you don't know how you're going to ask me. Am I right?” Ethan pretended to have no idea what she was talking about. “I don't think I understand what you are talking about, Cynthia!” “I know the truth, Ethan!” Cynthia said without wasting any time. “I know the truth about what actually happened to my mother!” Ethan's lips parted as his heart began beating faster. Anything that would keep the conversation going, he was all for it.Having settled into the chair, Ethan shrugged.“So, here we are! Can I get to hear it already?!”Rather than responding immediately to what Ethan had said, Cynthia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and heaved a deep sigh.“You see, Ethan, calling you here was something I carefully thought about. And I didn't call you here for just any minor reason!”Ethan remained composed, his eyes fixed on her as she continued.“I called you here because there is something you need to know about this whole case!”Ethan swallowed hard.“There is something I need to know?” he asked.Cynthia nodded.“But what is it?!”Keeping her eyes locked on Ethan, Cynthia continued.“It may seem as though you're curious,
