Chapter 14

Squeezing my lips into her palms, without considering how heavy I am, she lifted me up in seconds, I pulled my head from her grip and sighed heavily. I thought for a while, what happened? I couldn't answer, but Kyar look said it all, the keepers, like she said, are awake. Quickly, we rushed, stumbled on the cracking dried bones. Falling was not any option again, Kyar held my wrist and dragged me, running behind her. High-pitched sound chased us through, still holding my wrist, Kyar ran very fast, that I had to throw up after the race, danger was behind, it was obvious.

We ran to a place and stopped, there was an unseen barrier, which served as a blockade, between we and the keepers they banged the barrier, multiple times but the barrier won't break open, though we passed through it, with the help of the glowing pocket lantern that was held up by Kyar.

Magic sucks! I spat on the floor, and went sideways a bit farther, to throw up. The race was an abnormal one.

"Let's go" without waiting for a opposing response, Kyra was halfway to the top.of the hill, I ran behind her and stood, the jaw dropping, horror scene, only shown in movies in earth, the unvarying earth. It came to life before me, the mist was gone, the curly trees with iced drops and body freezing winds were gone, it felt a little warmer. The journey would be a short one, the dark, black-like castle was seen from the top of the hill, the road was very pleasant to thread on. I tucked my hand into my pockets, brought out some grapes to quench my hunger. I threw a few into my mouth and chewed them gently as I walked towards Kyar, who also was standing, scrutinizing a map or maybe a scroll with images.

She wrapped it up and wiped her forehead off with her left arm, the first step was hers, on the bridge. She waited and stepped backwards, replacing the first step with mine. "You should go." She said, stretched her hands forward.

Is this a trap? O asked myself. Why would she be afraid of just a bridge. The saying is ladies first, why me first? I asked myself random, disturbing questions and braced up and shrugged my shoulders, making them crack.

I made the first step and all went well to the seventh step, on the brick floor, which I regretted, after. The brick was like a booby trap, the brick went in and immediately the rest of the bricks started to split, farther and farther. I was left in awe as Kyar jumped on the bricks, passed me and continued the jump.

"When you jump on the right one, the close." She screamed as she continued and already far from me. I had no other option than to start the jumping, before the bricks separated to the end of the world, who knows what might happen?

I started jumping, in a very hasty manner. Jumping as fast as I could, then I noticed a stagnant brick, that was just in one spot, it didn't part not floated, I aimed for it, the bricks around it parted ways afar, I started running towards it, faster, panting and grunting beneath my breath, i finally had the chance but it was a risk. And I had to take it, yes I remembered, my beast form had some extraordinary abilities. I had to jump.

I did jump, and higher than I expected, it was easy to jump on the brick and in few seconds the bricks came back together. Kyar was standing afar, but the brick she stepped on, belonged to the one beside me, originally.

We were back together and we walked the bridge to the other end together. We chat for the rest of the journey and entered through the huge metal door, that looked like it was a thousand year old, there was bloodstains on it and skeletons were decorating the roadside. Pale frozen bodies and ripped bodies were all around the place, I was getting used to the horror. I walked through, behind Kyar and the place was empty. Kyar stretched to take two gemstones, cracked them on a torch, which brought out flames, she used it to light all other torches.

The last torch was lit. We waited at the entrance and stood, as Kyar had suggested. The place was filled with ghosts, in seconds. About a hundred were flying, hovering over us. And numerous ones where surrounding a ever long table. Like they were an organization.

"What brought you here, guardian of the end?" The loud reverberating, ghostly voice filled the room, from the far end of the hall.

"They're talking to you." Kyar said to me, muttering.

Damn! I didn't even know fully well, what brought me here. I thought. Then I shrugged and remembered every words that was said to me by Kyar.

"The end is here and war is nearer. The demi-gods are out. And only one of the seven realms would dare and is capable to open it, before it's due time." I barely said bravely.

"What say you? We are the cause?" The leader said again from the far end.

"No, I didn't impose it on you. I just came to know I you only know about it, you should say. If the end should come a stilborn, you all are not to catch a glimpse before you're gone. Think about it and ask among yourselves."

"Outrageous!" He screamed. And floated from his place towards me. Something encouraged me, I didn't know how I wouldn't flinch if a ghost should come before me. I did it anyways. "Don't" in a lower tone "don't impose such on any of my members again. We are pure." He ended with a loud voice. Trying to give encouragement to his people, and they all roared "yes"

"Okay. We will leave now. But nothing should tie knot with you and this." Kyar moved to the ghost leader and said solemnly "you know what the guardian of the end can do."

Wait what? What can I do to a ghost? I asked myself.

I believed I could do more than I imagined as the ghost leader startled. Kyar had threatened him I thought.

We left the hall, the ghost leader gave us a key, which would take us out. Back to were we came from, in a short time.
