Chapter 1
The aroma of seared beef filled the kitchen as Leon Blackwood carefully plated the Wellington he'd spent three hours perfecting. Golden pastry gleamed under the warm lights, and he'd arranged baby vegetables in a perfect circle—each one cut with precision.
His phone buzzed against the marble counter.
"Sir," came Marcus's urgent voice. "Princess Natasha of Crimania requests your presence at dinner tonight. She's willing to pay—"
"No." Leon wiped his hands on his apron, checking the sauce's consistency.
"But sir, she's offering fifty million just for—"
"I said no, Marcus. I'm busy."
A pause. "Busy? Sir, with all due respect, what could possibly be more important than—"
"My wife's dinner."
Marcus cleared his throat. "Right. Well, there's also another matter. King Abdullah of the Usari Empire wants to hire you as the kingdom's guardian. The salary is... astronomical."
Leon drizzled the red wine reduction over the plate. "Not interested."
"You're turning down a position that would make you one of the most powerful men in the world... to play house husband?" Marcus's voice cracked with disbelief.
"I have a debt to repay," Leon said simply. "Nothing more."
"A debt? Sir, you're living as a nobody in that family! They treat you like dirt!"
"That's enough, Marcus." His tone carried a warning.
"Yes, sir. But if you ever change your mind—"
Leon ended the call.
The front door slammed.
Mia Quinn stumbled through the entrance, her designer heels clicking against the floor. Her silk blouse was wrinkled, her usually perfect hair disheveled. Dark circles shadowed her eyes.
"Welcome home," Leon said warmly, pulling out her chair. "Dinner's ready."
She barely glanced at him. "Not hungry."
"You need to eat something. You've been working late every night this week."
"I said I'm not hungry!" She snapped, then pressed her fingers to her temples. "Sorry. Just... leave me alone."
"Mia, what's wrong? Talk to me."
"Talk to you?" She laughed bitterly. "What's the point?"
Before Leon could respond, the clicking of expensive heels announced another arrival.
"Oh, look who's playing chef again." Beverly Quinn's voice dripped venom as she surveyed the elegant dinner setup. "How lovely. Too bad cooking is all you're good for."
Leon remained silent, his hands steady as he adjusted a fork.
"Mom, please—" Mia started.
"No, darling. Someone needs to say it." Beverly's perfectly manicured finger pointed at Leon. "This pathetic man is dragging our family down. Look at him! Standing there in his little apron like some housemaid."
"Mother—"
"Three years, Mia! Three years you've wasted on this nobody!" Beverly's voice rose. "No job, no connections, no money! What does he contribute? Nothing!"
Leon's jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
"See? He can't even defend himself!" Beverly grabbed Mia's arm. "Come. We need to talk. Privately."
She practically dragged her daughter down the hall. The bedroom door slammed shut, but their voices carried through the thin walls.
Leon moved closer, his trained ears picking up every word.
"I told you this would happen!" Beverly's shrill voice pierced through the door. "Oliver Taylor has been waiting for you! His family owns half the shopping centers in the city!"
"I'm not discussing this again," Mia's voice was ice-cold.
"You have to! Our company is bleeding money! The Taylors could save us with a snap of their fingers!"
"I can handle it myself."
"Handle it? HANDLE IT?" Beverly's voice cracked. "We're three months from bankruptcy! Your employees haven't been paid! Our suppliers are threatening lawsuits!"
"I know what I'm doing—"
"No, you don't! If you did, you would've divorced that useless leech years ago! Oliver is young, handsome, rich—everything your so-called husband isn't!"
"Grandfather wanted—"
"Your grandfather was senile! Forcing you to marry some random nobody he found on the street? It was insane!"
"Don't speak about Grandfather that way!"
"Why not? He's dead! And his stupid decision is killing our family!"
There was a long pause. When Mia spoke again, her voice was barely audible. "I won't divorce Leon."
"Then you're a fool! When we lose everything—the house, the company, our status—remember that you chose that worthless man over your own family!"
The door flew open. Beverly stormed out, shooting Leon a glare that could freeze hell.
"Eavesdropping now?" She sneered. "Add 'sneaky' to your list of pathetic qualities."
She swept past him, her perfume leaving a sickly trail.
Mia emerged moments later, her face pale and drawn. She looked at the beautiful dinner Leon had prepared, then at him.
"I'm going to bed," she said flatly.
"Mia, please. Let me help."
She laughed—a broken, bitter sound. "Help? You?" She shook her head. "You can't even help yourself, Leon. How could you possibly help me?"
Her bedroom door clicked shut with finality.
Leon stood alone in the dining room, staring at the cooling meal. His hand moved to his pocket, fingers wrapping around his phone.
He dialed.
"Marcus."
"Sir?"
"Find out who's targeting the Quinn family business." His voice had changed—gone was the gentle husband. This was the voice that made powerful men tremble. "I want names, connections, everything."
"Sir? I thought you weren't getting involved in—"
"That was before someone made my wife cry." The temperature in the room seemed to drop. "Nobody touches what's mine."
"Understood. I'll have a report within the hour."
"Make it thirty minutes."
Leon ended the call and looked at the untouched dinner. His eyes, usually warm when looking at anything connected to Mia, had turned cold as arctic ice.

From Mr. Nobody to Mr. Perfect! Chapter 8
The Quinn family house felt like a war zone when Leon returned. Raised voices echoed from the living room, punctuated by the sharp crack of Clara's cane striking the marble floor. Through the doorway, he could see the entire family gathered in a circle, their faces grim with tension and frustration.Leon paused in the entrance hall, listening to the chaos unfolding in the next room."This is a disaster!" Clara's voice rose above all others, fury radiating from every word. "An absolute catastrophe!""Grandmother, please let me explain—" Lisa Romano's voice was desperate, pleading."Explain?" Clara's laugh was bitter as poison. "Explain how you threw away our family's future? How you destroyed our only connection to Golden Group?"Leon quietly stepped closer to the doorway, remaining hidden in the shadows while observing the scene.Lisa sat hunched in one of the expensive armchairs, her usual confidence completely shattered. Mascara streaked down her cheeks, and her designer clothes loo

From Mr. Nobody to Mr. Perfect! Chapter 7
In the plush executive lounge on the fortieth floor, Peter Marchetti lounged in a leather chair, his legs stretched out confidently. The panoramic windows offered a breathtaking view of the city below, but his attention was focused entirely on the woman beside him.Lisa Romano perched on the edge of her seat, practically vibrating with excitement. Her designer purse sat open on her lap as she frantically typed messages on her phone."I can't believe this is finally happening," she whispered, her fingers flying across the screen. "Grandmother Clara is going to be so impressed."Peter's smile was smug as he adjusted his expensive watch. "I told you not to worry, sweetheart. With my connections, this deal was always guaranteed.""When President Rossini signs the partnership agreement," Lisa continued, her eyes gleaming with anticipation, "I'll officially become the new company president. Finally!""And after that," Peter leaned closer, his voice dropping to an intimate murmur, "we can st

From Mr. Nobody to Mr. Perfect! Chapter 6
Leon stood in the empty kitchen, watching dust motes dance in the morning sunlight streaming through the windows. The house felt hollow after the morning's chaos, filled only with the echoes of angry voices and shattered expectations. He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. The truth was a burden no one wanted to carry when lies were so much more comfortable. Every word he'd spoken had been honest, yet honesty seemed to be the one thing his wife's family couldn't tolerate. The sound of hurried footsteps broke the silence. Mia appeared in the doorway, her purse clutched tightly in her hands and her face set with grim determination."I'm going to the office," she announced, not quite meeting his eyes. "I need to find contacts, research Golden Group's requirements, figure out some way to approach them.""Mia—""Don't." She held up her hand, stopping him mid-sentence. "Please, Leon. I have work to do."She turned and walked away, her heels clicking rapidly against the marble fl

From Mr. Nobody to Mr. Perfect! Chapter 5
The house felt strangely quiet after Oliver's departure. The family members clustered around Clara, their voices a mix of excitement and scheming whispers. The elderly matriarch stood at the center, her sharp eyes fixed on Mia with obvious displeasure."Well," Clara's voice cut through the chatter like a blade. "That was quite a display."Mia straightened her shoulders, sensing the storm approaching. "Grandmother, I know you're disappointed, but—""Disappointed?" Clara's laugh was cold and bitter. "Child, I'm beyond disappointed. I'm horrified."The room fell silent as Clara's cane tapped against the marble floor in a steady, ominous rhythm."You just rejected a proposal from a future B-tier family heir," Clara continued, her voice rising with each word. "A man offering fifty million dollars to save our company. And for what? Pride?""It's not about pride," Mia replied firmly. "It's about making the right decision for everyone involved.""The right decision?" Lisa Romano stepped forwa

From Mr. Nobody to Mr. Perfect! Chapter 4
The silence that followed Leon's words lasted exactly three seconds before the room erupted in laughter."Did he just say he disagrees?" Lisa Romano wiped tears from her eyes, her laughter high and mocking. "The family cook thinks he has a vote?"Clara's cane struck the floor repeatedly as she chuckled. "In fifty years of business, I've never heard anything so ridiculous.""Leon, please," Mia whispered, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. "Don't make this worse."Beverly's face had turned an alarming shade of red. "How dare you speak when your betters are talking? You have no right—NO RIGHT—to interfere in family business!"Oliver's smile remained perfectly polite, though his eyes showed amusement. "Perhaps your... husband... doesn't understand the gravity of the situation.""He understands nothing," Beverly snapped. "Three years of marriage and he's learned nothing about his place."Leon stood calmly beside the kitchen counter, seemingly unbothered by the ridicule raining down on

Dante Rossi's knees hit the marble floor with a painful crack."Please!" His voice broke as tears streamed down his face. "I'll fix everything! I swear on my mother's grave!"Leon stood above him, hands clasped behind his back. "Go on.""I'll restore all cooperation with the Quinn family immediately!" Dante's words tumbled out frantically. "Full partnership! Better terms than before! And I'll... I'll personally visit Mrs. Quinn to apologize!""When?""Tomorrow morning! First thing! I'll grovel at her feet if necessary!"Leon studied him for a long moment. "This is merely a small lesson, Mr. Rossi. Remember it well.""Yes! Yes, I will! Thank you for your mercy!"Leon turned and walked away, leaving Dante sobbing on his office floor. The house was quiet when Leon returned home. Moonlight streamed through the windows as he climbed the stairs. Mia's bedroom door was closed, soft breathing indicating she was finally asleep. He paused outside her door, his hand hovering over the handle. The
