Meanwhile, back on the bed… Glenn blinked once, then twice.

And then he lay there, one arm lazily tucked behind his head, watching the door Irene had just vanished through with a baffled expression on his usually unreadable face.

“…What just happened?” he muttered aloud, more to himself than anyone else.

His brows drew together slightly, a crease forming above his nose as he scratched the back of his head.

“How could I possibly be a bully when I was asking out of genuine concern?” he asked the room as if expecting an answer from the air.

Then a sigh escaped his lips.

But just at that moment, uninvited memories from the night before flashed through his mind… the moans, the tangled bodies, the heat between them, the way she had pleaded with him. And her… that version of Irene: wild, raw, and completely unrestrained.

In the next second, Glenn blinked, his lips quirking upward in something dangerously close to a grin.

“If I didn’t know better,” he murmured to himself, “I w

******The moment Glenn’s eyes opened, a vast, spacious hall unfolded before his eyes.It was massive and intimidating, and not too brightly lit.The most noticeable thing was the group of thugs encircling him. It was not just a dozen or twenty of them, but at least a solid hundred. It was a menacing display of shaved heads, scarred faces, inked skin, flashy gold chains, and cold, bloodshot eyes. The air was thick with the stench of cigarette smoke, sweat, and something even fouler… heavy enough to choke on. The atmosphere throbbed with hostility, so dense it stuck to the skin like grease. They all glared at him, as if he were a rabid dog who had just chewed off their collective pride. Their eyes screamed for retribution, that if looks could kill, Glenn would’ve disintegrated on the spot.Glenn stood alone at the center of that furious crowd, appearing as if he had just casually strolled into a den of a hundred wild animals and requested a place to rest.Still… he remained unf

  • Chapter 130 – Kidnapped II

******To Glenn’s knowledge, he hadn’t gone against anyone since getting out of prison. In fact, he hadn’t even had the chance to do much since his entire plan had already been wrecked.Only if James Koch, Avery, Perry, Melissa’s uncle, or Weylon and his band of minions had heard him claim he hadn’t gone against anyone, they would instantly foam at the mouth with righteous outrage.James would scream, “You bastard broke my leg! How dare you claim you hadn’t gone against anyone?”Weylon would demand, “You humiliated me in front of my people!”Avery would yell about the smack Melissa had given her. They would’ve been furious enough to drop dead from rage. But since none of them were there to hear Glenn’s thoughts, the silence inside the bus remained undisturbed. This went on like this for a moment that felt like an eternity before suddenly, the van jolted violently again, dragging Glenn out of his musings.SCREECH!The tires screeched as the vehicle jolted to a sudden, bone-rat

  • Chapter 129 – Kidnapped I

******The sharp screech of tires scraping against the tarred road suddenly shattered the silence. It was so sudden and so jarring that even Glenn, who was usually stoic, couldn’t help but blink and straighten up instinctively. He raised his head, just in time to see a sleek black minibus grinding to a halt right in front of him, its wheels smoking faintly. All the windows were tinted black as night, with not even a glimpse of the interior offered.Glenn’s brows knit subtly at this sight, a faint crease appearing between them as his gaze lingered on the black minibus in front of him.Something about the whole situation felt… off and a little too dramatic for a simple countryside vehicle stop. But before he could even begin to form a complete thought around the oddity, the vehicle’s sliding door snapped open with a low metallic clatter. And following this, three large, broad-shouldered men vaulted out in perfect sync, muscles bulging beneath tight black shirts, and their jaws l

  • Chapter 128 – Leaving the Village

******Completely oblivious to Irene’s inner turmoil, the crushing despair threatening to consume her whole, and the silent pain lodged in her chest, Glenn, who had just exited the modest villa, strolled away, his hands jammed loosely into his pants pockets. His steps were unhurried and deliberate, painting the perfect picture of a man who has no worry whatsoever in the world and has nowhere urgent to be.At the moment, however, a mild frown rested on his face... not from anger, but the kind that appears when a thought keeps nagging at the edge of your mind like an itch you can’t quite reach.Glenn was never known for being an emotionally aware person. In fact, he rarely understood what others were feeling, but even he was able to tell that something was deeply disturbing Irene. That bitter expression she had been wearing since last night… the one she kept trying to hide from him, was too heavy to the extent that even a wall brick would have sensed the unease radiating from her.

  • Chapter 127 – An Emotional Oblivious Glenn

******Meanwhile, Glenn, having no idea about the dilemma going through Irene’s mind, finally smiled slightly after seeing her nod.“I’ve got a few things to handle in the city,” he said, casually slipping his hands into his pockets, his tone relaxed, as if they weren’t standing in the center of a slow-motion tragedy. “I’ll call to check up on you later.”He turned and walked toward the door like a man who had never known a single worry in his life. But then—“Glenn…”His name suddenly slipped out of Irene’s lips before she could stop it, and it startled both of them.Glenn paused mid-step, his hand hovering near the doorknob. Then slowly, he turned, surprise flickering in his eyes, not at being called, but at how unexpectedly beautiful his name had sounded from Irene’s mouth, like music and something sacred. He didn’t mention it, though. Instead, he simply met Irene’s eyes and asked softly, “Yes?”Irene hesitated for a second, then her lips parted, but no sound came.Ultim

  • Chapter 126 – An Emotional Irene

******Honestly, the sheer confidence in Glenn’s voice… so calm and so matter-of-fact made it hard for Irene to tell whether he was being delusional or just stating reality. It was arrogant, yes, outrageously so. But there was something maddeningly convincing about the way he said it, as if he wasn’t trying to boast… just laying down facts.Eventually, she chuckled bitterly. ‘How could anyone in this world be able to solve everything, when they are not god,’ she thought, scolding herself for nearly believing Glenn. With this, she sighed.“Don’t worry,” she said again, this time with a small, defeated smile. “I can handle it.”Glenn didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he simply watched her.He could tell that whatever Irene was facing was tearing her apart from the inside. He had seen it earlier, when he woke up, which was why he had intentionally made the remark he made. That time, her eyes had been hollow, and her expression had been haunted., making him realize that whatever
