Chapter 05

Ten minutes later, Caleb removed all the needles from Old Master Julius’s back.

Right after that, something unpleasant seemed to rise in Old Master Julius’s throat. A second later, he vomited a large amount of black liquid.

That naturally made Amber and Logan panic, but Caleb quickly gestured for them to stay calm and said, “Don’t worry, this is part of the treatment.”

Amber was still panicking even after Caleb said that. That strange black liquid coming out of her grandfather’s mouth—how could she not freak out over that?

However, her panic disappeared the moment she noticed that her grandfather’s body looked significantly more refreshed. His skin had returned to its natural color, and he slowly began to regain consciousness as he opened his eyes.

Caleb then handed him a glass of the concoction he had made earlier and said, “Drink this and you’ll feel much better.”

Old Master Julius drank it without hesitation. Even though the drink looked suspicious and had a pungent smell, he knew it was Caleb who had treated him. There was no reason to reject whatever medicine Caleb gave him.

Moments later, the stiffness in his legs disappeared, and he was able to move them again. His vision also started to clear up, and he could finally see his granddaughter clearly. He could even speak now, and so he immediately looked at Caleb and bowed his head respectfully. “Thank you for saving my life, Doctor. I owe you a great debt. As the Supreme Leader of the Knight Family, I, Julius Knight, vow to grant you any request—no matter how difficult.”

Seeing Caleb being treated with such deep respect and gratitude by Old Master Julius, both Damian and Logan couldn’t hide the envy on their faces.

This bastard was seriously lucky! That kind of recognition was something anyone in Fluxville would dream of.

Caleb, on the other hand, showed a satisfied smile. He hadn’t expected that this old man was actually the Supreme Leader of the Knight Family—the most powerful and influential family in Fluxville.

Getting someone like him in debt to you would bring incredible advantages. Even if Old Master Julius didn’t help him destroy the Thompson Family, at the very least, they wouldn’t dare make a move against him now. He’d be protected by the Knight Family.

Caleb replied, “I don’t need anything from you at the moment, Old Master Julius. But I do hope you’ll help me if I ever need it.”

“I’d be happy to help you, Doctor. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Amber if you ever need assistance,” Old Master Julius said with respect in his voice.

Caleb nodded warmly and turned to Amber. “Give Old Master Julius the same drink I made earlier, once a day. I’m confident he’ll fully recover within a month if he drinks it regularly.”

“Thank you so much, Doctor. You’ve saved my grandfather’s life. I owe you big time,” Amber replied, her voice full of gratitude. If she hadn’t met Caleb today, there was a good chance her grandfather wouldn’t have made it. That only made her respect and admiration for Caleb grow stronger.

“It’s nothing,” Caleb replied.

At that point, Amber turned her gaze toward Damian. Her warm expression instantly turned cold and full of murderous intent.

She spoke, “Do you realize today’s the day you meet your end?”

Hearing that, Damian immediately panicked. He rushed toward Amber and dropped to his knees, pleading, “Please spare my life, Miss Amber! I swear I’ll give up my medical license and never work in this field again. Just please don’t kill me!”

Amber looked disgusted. “You nearly killed my grandfather, and you think giving up your license is enough to make up for it? Even cutting off both your hands and legs wouldn’t be enough to repay your sins! One way or another, you’re done today!”

Damian begged again, “Please show mercy, Miss Amber! I truly regret what I did! Just give me one chance to live!”

Before Amber could respond, Old Master Julius interrupted, “Leave him to me, Amber. I know exactly what he deserves. It’s better if you attend the auction. As one of the most honored guests, you really should be there.”

Amber refused immediately, “That’s not important, Grandpa. I’d rather stay here with you. Making sure you’re okay is my priority!”

“I already feel much better. You can leave me here with Logan while you go with the Doctor,” Old Master Julius said with a smile.

He then turned his gaze to Caleb and asked, “Doctor, would you grant this old man a small request? Would you accompany my granddaughter to the auction?”

Caleb went silent for a moment, lost in thought, before finally replying, “Alright, Old Master Julius. I’ll go with your granddaughter.”

If this helped deepen Old Master Julius’s sense of gratitude toward him, it was worth it.

Amber, on the other hand, immediately agreed to her grandfather’s request. Honestly, she was extremely curious about Caleb’s true identity.

He dressed modestly, but his medical skills were extraordinary. She had never seen anyone practice medicine like this before. It made her wonder where and with whom he had studied.

Naturally, that made Caleb seem even more mysterious in her eyes. That’s why Amber wanted to get to know him better—find out who he really was.

Besides, her grandfather’s condition had improved a lot, so she could carry out this task with peace of mind.

After that, Caleb and Amber left the hospital and headed to the auction house.

Watching the two of them slowly walk away, Logan couldn’t hide the envy on his face. That lucky bastard!

Even though Logan wasn’t an expert in romance, he could tell that Caleb had already started to win Miss Amber’s heart, at least a little. That in itself was a huge achievement, considering how cold and arrogant she was. Almost no man had ever been able to win her over—not even the heirs of other prominent families in Fluxville.
