Chapter 01
Caleb stood in the doorway, his eyes locked on the scene unfolding in front of him. His wife, Ava—who was supposed to be welcoming him home after three long years in prison—was instead cuddling with another man on the couch. It felt like a punch to the chest. For a second, he couldn’t breathe. “W-what are you doing, Ava?!” Caleb asked, his voice shaking as he fought to contain the anger boiling inside him. Ava and the man jumped in shock, immediately pulling away and turning toward Caleb. Ava looked panicked at first, but within seconds, her expression turned calm. The man, on the other hand, looked completely unbothered by Caleb’s arrival. As if she hadn’t just been caught red-handed, Ava calmly said, “You’re out, Caleb?! So, today was your release day? I had no idea.” “You’re right. I’m out. But instead of a warm welcome from you, I walk into this? You’ve forgotten me. Forgotten the promises we made!” Caleb said, his voice rising. The disappointment in his tone was undeniable. A
Chapter 02
Hearing that, Caleb couldn’t hide the look of disbelief on his face. He couldn’t stop himself from asking, “You’re going to divorce me—the man who’s always loved you and done everything for you—just for this rich guy?!” “You’re comparing yourself to Mr. Thompson, Caleb?!” Ava snapped. “Do you even realize that you’re not even worth the dirt under his nails?! Apologize to him now or I will go through with the divorce!” Caleb was stunned, absolutely shattered by her words. Every dream he had of a happy future with Ava after his release crumbled in an instant—like a mirror smashed with a stone. Honestly, he didn’t even know what to say anymore. Just then, Ethan’s phone buzzed. He checked a message, and immediately, his face turned sour. “The event has already started,” he told Ava. “Let’s go. Now.” “B-but... what about your injury, Mr. Thompson?” Ava asked, sounding genuinely worried. “It’s fine. Let’s just leave.” Ava nodded in agreement. As the two of them strode toward the fro
Chapter 03
Caleb looked at him coldly and asked, “And are you going to take responsibility if something bad happens to the old man?!” The muscular man snapped back, “That should be my question, Dammit! You—” Amber cut in, “Enough, Logan! I trust him!” The man, Logan, looked at Amber again, clearly questioning her decision. “Are you sure, Miss Amber? What if—” Before he could finish, Amber said, “This is already the fifth time my grandfather has been hospitalized, but his condition never really gets better. The doctors are practically giving up, saying he doesn’t have much time left. But this man says he can heal my grandfather, so it’s worth a shot. I’m not going to ignore even the tiniest bit of hope.” Logan sighed helplessly and turned to Caleb. “If Old Master Julius’ condition gets worse after your treatment, don’t blame me if I end up killing you.” Caleb responded as he walked toward the old man, “Do whatever you want.” At that moment, Caleb placed his fingers on Old Master Julius’ rig
Chapter 04
Upon hearing the news that her grandfather was having violent seizures, Amber rushed over to the doctor and demanded, "What’s going on?! Why is my grandfather having seizures like this?!" The doctor, Damian Scott, responded with a nervous expression, “I-I don’t know either, Miss Amber. I-I only gave Old Master Julius the correct dosage of his medication, but this happened! I’m sure it’s because of that man you met earlier! He must have done something terrible to Old Master Julius! You should blame him for this, Miss Amber!” Damian had no idea what was really happening. He had administered what he thought was the appropriate medication to help Old Master Julius improve, but the exact opposite had occurred. Old Master Julius began convulsing violently, as if the medication had caused a severe side effect. No matter what Damian tried, nothing helped—his condition only worsened. And of course, if Old Master Julius died, Damian's career, his life, and even his family would be ruined. Th
Chapter 05
Ten minutes later, Caleb removed all the needles from Old Master Julius’s back. Right after that, something unpleasant seemed to rise in Old Master Julius’s throat. A second later, he vomited a large amount of black liquid. That naturally made Amber and Logan panic, but Caleb quickly gestured for them to stay calm and said, “Don’t worry, this is part of the treatment.” Amber was still panicking even after Caleb said that. That strange black liquid coming out of her grandfather’s mouth—how could she not freak out over that? However, her panic disappeared the moment she noticed that her grandfather’s body looked significantly more refreshed. His skin had returned to its natural color, and he slowly began to regain consciousness as he opened his eyes. Caleb then handed him a glass of the concoction he had made earlier and said, “Drink this and you’ll feel much better.” Old Master Julius drank it without hesitation. Even though the drink looked suspicious and had a pungent smell, he
Chapter 06
"You can drive, Doctor?" Amber asked as they walked away from the hospital. "I can, Miss Amber. Leave it to me," Caleb replied right away. "Thank you, Doctor." At this point, they were already in the car, and Caleb asked, "Where are we going, Miss Amber?" "To the Clifton Family Auction House," Amber answered. "As you wish, Miss Amber," Caleb said as he started driving. A silence fell between them during the ride, and Amber couldn’t help but wonder—was this man not even the slightest bit interested in talking to her? So many men desperately wanted to talk to her, yet she rejected them all. And now, this man finally had the chance to talk to her... and he didn’t even try? Naturally, this only deepened Amber’s curiosity—and attraction—toward Caleb. What an interesting man. He ignored a woman as beautiful as me! Eventually, Amber decided to break the silence herself. “By the way, may I know your name, Doctor? Calling you 'Doctor' all the time feels a bit odd. It would be better if
Chapter 07
Amber responded coldly, “Whether he causes me trouble or not, that’s none of your business! Get out of my sight right now—you’re incredibly annoying!” Hearing that, Ethan couldn’t hide the irritation on his face. He hadn’t expected his provocation to have absolutely no effect on Amber. Still, he wasn’t ready to give up. There was no way he would allow a woman as stunning and perfect as Amber to be anywhere near Caleb. Caleb was better suited for some ugly, overweight woman! He tried again, attempting to convince her, “Miss, didn’t you hear me? He’s a criminal. He once almost killed someone. There’s nothing good that’ll come from having him around—he’s just going to drag you into trouble!” “God, you’re seriously annoying! Who I’m with is none of your damn business!” Amber snapped, clearly losing her patience. Ethan felt a wave of frustration hit him. No matter what he said, Amber was stubborn and completely unmoved. Wasn’t this bastard just some ex-con who used to run a restaurant
Chapter 08
Caleb was utterly shocked by what she said. He quickly replied, “I’m not worthy of you, Miss Amber. As you already know, I’m just a criminal and currently unemployed. You’ll end up regretting it if you stay with someone like me.” Truthfully, Caleb wanted to reject Amber. As disappointed as he was in Ava, that didn’t mean he had room in his heart for someone else. But to reject Amber outright would mean humiliating her and crushing her pride. After what she had done for him, he couldn’t possibly do that. So instead, he chose to put himself down, hoping Amber would reconsider her decision. After all, he truly believed someone as incredible as her deserved far better than him. But what Amber said next left him completely stunned. Was she really this stubborn? “So what if you’re a criminal and unemployed? I don’t care about your background or status. I’m interested in you, so I want to have you.” Realizing that Amber wouldn’t back down no matter what he said, Caleb finally replied, “
Chapter 09
And, just like everyone expected, Amber immediately snapped back angrily, “Did your parents never teach you manners?! Do I need to slap some sense into you so you learn how to respect women?!” Alton burst into loud laughter and said, “Wow, I’m impressed by your guts, Pretty Lady! Don’t you know who I am?! I’m the son of Liam Mason, the leader of The Wolf Fang—the biggest mafia group that controls the underworld of Fluxville and the surrounding cities! If I tell him about this, he’ll crush the Knight Family without mercy! Nothing will be left of them but regret!” At this point, Alton licked his lower lip, flashing a disgusting, perverted grin, and continued, “Here’s a deal. If you strip naked and dance for everyone here, I’ll forget everything you just said and let the Knight Family live! You won’t get a better offer than this, Bitch!” Amber had never been humiliated like this in her entire life. Naturally, she grabbed a glass and hurled it at Alton’s face. She hoped it would smash
Chapter 10
At this point, the rest of Alton’s goons quickly took long strides toward Caleb. They realized now that Caleb was strong—and dangerous. Underestimating him again would be a fatal mistake. The guy Caleb just defeated was one of the strongest among them. So this time, they decided to attack all at once. Taking him on one by one would only lead to their own defeat. Seeing them charge at him together, Caleb immediately shifted into a solid stance. He was now ready for round two. Four of them lunged at him at once—aiming for his face, solar plexus, stomach, and chest. They were clearly trying to cover all angles, leaving no opening for Caleb to counterattack. But even though they thought they had covered all the gaps, in Caleb’s eyes they moved like snails. Before any of their attacks could land, each one took a hard punch to the face from Caleb. They flew back several meters, spewing teeth as they crashed down. They passed out on the spot—suffering even worse than the burly guy before
