Chapter 11: The 45-Minute

 "Alfred, listen to me very carefully.” Logan spoke in a sudden authoritative voice that froze them. "I want Synergy Corp to go bankrupt in less than 45 minutes and it should be done immediately." 

 Alfred didn't bother to ask why, he knew Logan had a reason for everything,  "Yes, Sir." He said firmly.

 The call disconnected…Logan glared at the people before him. “You're all gonna pay.”

 Fisher looked at the security men… They all burst into laughter. 

 "What the hell? You almost got me. You really are a great actor." Jared said in-between laughs. "Do you really think I believe this little show you just displayed? You must be dumber than I thought." He walked over to Logan and shoved a finger on his forehead. "Your desperate attempt to scare me only proved how foolish you are. If you had used that time you wasted and went on your knees to beg me, I would have considered rehiring you but with what you just displayed, it will never happen." 

 Logan shoved Jared's finger away from his head. He was angry, but he remained calm.

 "Get this clown out of here." Jared commanded before going back inside the building. 

 "Yes Sir." The  men chorused.  The security men all had  evil smirks on their faces as they glanced at one another. That was when he saw Francis Lee exiting the company building and walking towards them.  

 He looked over to the head of security and brought out a bundle of money. "Here's $5000, hold this fool down for me. I want to watch as you beat him into a pulp.” He ordered with an evil smirk.

 The security head smiled as he cracked his fingers, “You all heard that, let's give Mr Lee a good show.”

 Logan closed his eyes when they all rushed to hold him. He lowered his head and endured another round of beatings and kicks. He patiently waited for his turn to come when he would shine. 

 Unknown to Francis, Jared Fisher was in his office, breaking out in cold sweat as he spoke to someone on the phone, "Sir, what do you mean  Synergy Corp is undergoing bankruptcy?"

 The man speaking to Jared on the phone shouted angrily, "Are you deaf or what, general manager?! The board of directors have just informed me that Astral Corp ordered that Synergy Corp be stripped of its value."  There was a mix of anger and impatience in the man's voice. "Have you not seen that our stocks have been plummeting? How can you call yourself the general manager when you don't know shit?" 

 "I'm so sorry sir?" Jared said as he typed away furiously on his laptop until he saw the chart. His body froze. "How is this possible?" 

 "That's what I want to know. We're just a mid-tier company that started a few years ago." The man allowed a minute of silence to pass. "Till I was tipped that you fired a person in your company. Someone who goes with the name…”

 The man didn't get to say the name because Jared was ahead of him. "Logan Mitchell." His body froze as he said the name out loud. A shiver went down his spine as he recalled the special call Logan made in front of him and his colleagues. "This is not possible, Sir. The man in question is just a lowly janitor." 

 "You clueless fool.” The man said with so much spite. "People aren't always who they seem to be and if you cannot understand that after working in such a big organisation, then I think the company made a big mistake entrusting its affairs to you." 

 "Please forgive me, Sir. I never meant for such a thing to hap-" 

 The man cut him off. "Your apologies mean nothing to us. You can only be safe if you get us out of this situation you caused or else, Fisher, if this company goes down, be rest assured that you'll spend the rest of your life in jail." 

 The phone got disconnected and Jared was now trembling with fear. Without a second thought, he rushed out of his office and  made way to the elevator while praying for Logan to still be outside.
