From Rejected Son in Law to Empire Heir

Chapter 4: The Return of the Heir

 Astral Corp was one of the largest company buildings in the city. It was the headquarters which had different conglomerates reporting to it and had different segments which were all thriving well with Logan's family at the center of it all, managing every aspect.

 Logan was really pissed at the old man's request. For many years, he had been avoiding his family, especially his father, and now Alfred was making him go there. He knew the old man's tricks but he didn't have much of a choice. It's for his dear Mia after all.

 He went into  Mia's room to check on her and Ava. He saw Ava holding their daughter’s hand, fighting back tears.

  He couldn't remember when his daughter opened her eyes last, or the last time they were all happy as one family.

  Logan wanted to go to them, to comfort Ava and tell her everything would be fine. But the image of her yelling at him earlier flashed in his head and he stepped back. Without saying a word, he left the room.

 “I know you said tomorrow, Alfred. But I can't wait. It has to be today.” He whispered to himself as he brought out his phone to leave him a text. Then he headed for Astral Corp.

 It took him nearly two hours to get there before he finally arrived at his family's humongous tower.

 To avoid being seen by people or anyone who would recognise him, he brought out a dusty and rumpled  old cap from his pocket that paired with  his cleaning uniform. Thanks to his appearance, no one bothered to look his way as they thought he was a cleaner.

  He walked towards one of the twenty receptionists who were lined up horizontally behind a very long wooden mahogany table, few of them attending to guests. Astral Corp headquarters usually had about 1000 people per day always visiting so the company ensured that no one was kept waiting.

 "Good morning, I'm here on a classified visit with the CEO." Logan said to the male receptionist.

 The people present who heard him threw glances at him. Classified visit… with the CEO of all people? Looking like that? Yeah, right.

 “Uhh, Good morning…” The receptionist managed to respond before asking, “Do you have an appointment with him?" He then looked at Logan, properly this time. When he saw how poor and dirty Logan was looking in his uniform and cap, he scrunched his nose up in disgust. "I'm sorry, but the CEO doesn't meet with just anyone, let alone someone like you." 

 Logan scoffed, he was expecting this kind of treatment, that's why he came prepared. He brought out a small card which had an exquisite black and gold design. 

 The card had the Astral Corp logo on it. It was for prominent members of the Mitchell family. Only five of them existed and one belonged to Logan, it was a ticket to endless opportunities. He had the card on him at all times, hoping he never needed to use it. But fate said otherwise.

 "What about this?" He showed it to the receptionist.

 When the man saw it, his eyes flew wide as they darted between the card and the person holding it. He lowered  his head then smiled politely, "I'm so sorry, Sir. Please give me a moment to inform his secretary of your arrival." He said with a little bow, quickly making a call to the upper floor. 

 Logan waited calmly, he went over his conversation with Alfred in his head, wondering what the task was that he needed to fulfill. However, his thoughts were interrupted by a commotion that erupted suddenly behind him. He turned around and his eyes widened at the set of people he saw.

  Logan took a long, hard look at the people he saw. They were pleading softly with the female receptionist to let them meet with the CEO.

  The people were none other than  Leslie Cooper, Ava's mother… His mother in-law. And beside her was Stacy Cooper, Ava's younger sister, his entitled sister-in-law.
