Time to go to do some shopping!

Rald entered the toilets.

He then took a bottle from a bag he always carried with him.

He put a little piece of brain on the side of his actual brain.

Rald now had a new ability. He could fly!

[…]

Rald was seeing his life passing before his eyes…

No.

Not his life, his lives.

His life and the lives of all of the brains he collected…

Wait, he was not Rald?

Was he Rald at some point?

Will he be Rald?

Who was Rald?

He didn't know.

He only knew one thing, he was afraid of heights.

[…]

Loneliness…

That was loneliness.

He knew fear and loneliness…

A big, empty emptiness…

He remembered now…

[…]

God MUST have miscalculated something while creating him, his brush MUST have slipped, what was his utility, what was the worth of his life?

He thought he was useful for a while, as that person he met needed him. But then, the person died.

And he started to ponder again.

Why was I born?

What was my reason to exist?

[…]

He was not able to learn much? He was not even able to put on clothes himself?

It didn’t matter!

He was going to learn… He was going to live! In his own way…

He remembered now…

The name he was given by that person…

Shem!

[…]

It was like a killing spree, it started quickly, but the higher the count went, the slower he got emotions, as he struggled with handling the previous ones.

But strangely enough, he was sure that this particular spree wouldn't break.

He FELT like it.

[…]

-Shameless!

That voice came from the little part of brain that gave Rald the ability to fly…

------------------------------

Shem was dead.

He didn’t know when he died, but he died.

Well, not entirely. His body was still there. But his brain wasn't.

It took him so many years to obtain a new one…

But before that, Rald succeeded.

One morning, he succeeded. Unlike the other alchemists who would immediately explode in joy, he stayed calm. Even if he had emotions now, what joy would there be to succeed in doing something so easy?

He stayed calm and thought.

What if there was a spy amongst the alchemists and they intended to kill him once they didn't need him anymore? After all, they didn’t want the secret formula being leaked to a competitor.

It just so happened he had the emperor of blood's brain on him, so killing all the witnesses could safeguard him while also strengthening himself at the same time. If he was the only one with knowledge of the formula, even if they intended to kill him, he would know the timing and be ready for it.

Sadly, he was just too old and didn't know what a security camera was.

All his work was recorded, and they didn't need him anymore. Furthermore, using a camera unethically placed in the toilets, they saw him change brains and decided he was too dangerous to be allowed to roam free. Who knew, if they didn't record what he did, maybe he would’ve even given them a fake formula and disappeared somewhere with the money!

There just happens to be a poisonous tree, the poison of which contains neurotoxins. When they met to "exchange" the formula, they poisoned his tea with a neurotoxic mixture and threw his dead body in the wild…

They just didn't know one thing… He never was a living being.

In fact, his brains are, but his body wasn’t.

The brand new brain died in the process, but it took upon itself all the toxins.

Playing dead, after his body was thrown out, he discovered he was dead. And this is here that we will resume the story.

Rald, the actual Rald, was talking to the flying brain:

-What is this method to hide cerebral waves you used? And why are there multiple brains inside this body? Where is my body? Wasn’t I supposed to be the only one here?

-It's certainly been a few years you've been dead… You’ve just been constantly manipulated by it…

-Who?

-The brain that's rotting in the middle.

-Eh, okay?

Rald was pretty surprised.

-Any other questions?

-How can a brain survive and be used like that? That's… Impossible!

The flying brain mentally snickered.

-It has special powers, and used you, but together, we can fight him to be free! It won’t be long before he wakes up.

-How should I call you?

The flying brain thought for a moment before replying:

-I am Anonyma.

The reality was much more unbelievable, and Anonyma kept it for himself.

This body was nothing more than a vessel, and Shem was far from being the first owner. But as innocent it was, it seemed someone placed it there, it shouldn’t have been able to become the owner while being as naive as it is…

But even if it had a strong background that helped it, Anonyma wouldn't throw away his only chance of having a second life by not acting!

He still remembered the first time he saw it… It was like a pet, looking for love and care. When he successfully tamed it, when he was finally ready to take over the body using surgery, he was killed!

It was a good thing that it had the idea of coming back to search for his brain. It probably sought his abilities, and it was a good thing, or he wouldn’t be here anymore. But even though he tamed it back then, that ungrateful thing still took so much time to put him in its head! So many years waiting for it to do what I wanted him to do… At that thought, Anonyma’s brainwaves emitted killing intent…

But his brain calmed down when he looked at Rald… A new pet to tame! And this time, he wouldn’t fail before he ran out of uses for it anymore!

Once Shem is killed, he'll just have to get rid of Rald…

-Rald, listen, you must not tell Shem that I am alive. I am far too weak and he might kill me quickly.

-But I can't fight!

-This is why I'm going to teach you techniques to use your mental capacity and abilities. You'll be able to escape the rule of Shem and fight for our survival! We have a few years at most, it became dependent on its new brain so it was shocked out of consciousness, but it’ll wake up eventually!

In the next three years, whenever Rald was training, Anonyma would go over his plan, perfecting it.

Once Rald killed Shem, he'd be injured, and as his teacher, he knew all his techniques, and wouldn’t have any problem finishing him off! He would then be the true master of the body!

How keywords were used:

Shem planned on giving them a fake, mistaken formula but they killed him instead. Or it, to be exact. It usually has an absolute rule on its brains and imposes its laws, but this time it relaxed them. Rald is learning to use his mental capacity to fight off Shem when he wakes up, helped by the ungenuine flying brain, who is actually cruel while Rald is innocent.

As I enter my home, I find my sister already there, nibbling on a cookie in the kitchen. -You're here? -I finished early and I had nothing planned, so... -I see. I put down my stuff, and join her after-school snack. -Oh, by the way, wanna eat something particular today? I turn around. It was my voice, but it didn't come from me. Turns out that one face is sticking out from the kitchen's entrance, and it's mine. Well, not mine per se, but mine.<

Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck… I'm late! Who thought I'd sleep through my alarm clock… I hurry up, get dressed, and leave my room. I'm late by almost 4 hours. As I get down the stairs, I seriously consider the utility of actually going. I have about 6 hours and a half of courses in the day. Minus 4 hours it makes it down to 2 and a half. Minus the time to eat, and the 30 minutes to walk all the way there, it would eat 1 more hour into it. In the end, is it worth walking 1 hour in total to have 1 hour and a half of courses?

    Volume 10 - re:D.D. (23) - Troublesome

How troublesome… Lately, it seemed to be the only thought getting through his mind. As the Secretary of Defense of the United States, he was supposed to have some level of authority, but, with the recent events, things had too much of a tendency to be out of his hands. With supernatural matters that could threaten national security visible to the public, he felt like he visited the President's desk more than his own. It could almost be seen as enough to warrant the creation of a highly secure internal mailing system, if such a system wasn't deemed to be eventually broken through. In fact, it could be observed that he was seen in the White House than the cans of coke the president kept drinking. Today was no different.

She wasn't feeling much. In fact, both her senses and awareness were limited, for she was currently part of a gigantic mass of flesh. She was right at the center. Maybe it was because her individuality was slowly disappearing, but she had a small moment of clarity. Right as her zombie part was slowly integrating into a greater consciousness, her human side, which had disappeared ever since she became a zombie, reappeared. As her reason came back, it was hit with a truckload of memories, and she was met with horror. It wasn't just what she became or what she did, but also where she was. She could only see darkness, she could hear nothing, she could only feel a wriggling wall of flesh all around, as if she was bathing in it.

A/N: I didn’t notice, but I took my break right on the 100k words mark! Anyway, here is the chapter! As the day was going, it didn't take long for me to know that nothing was done about the zombies. Seeing how difficult my choices are becoming, it is likely that my sister is faced with considerably difficult choices too. Preventing negative consequences might not be the best way to deal with things. Sometimes, doing a trade-off might be better. Of course, I have no way to know if my sister also has choices and not another form of using her angels, but it doesn't change the fact that I trust her ability to pick the best path. If she decided that sacrificing Sydney was necessary, then I trust her. While I might be a bit short-sighted, I believe she has t
