Chapter 27

Jake tossed Chris around the other side of the hall.

Chris hit the glass framed painting on the wall and after a loud shattering sound of glass he fell on ground.

Anna’s eyes grew wide in shock as she shouted “what the hell brother?”

Chris raised his and gestured Anna to not interrupt. He stood up and dusted the tiny glass pieces off his clothes and said in his deep voice, “Now is the time Anna. Let us clear all that’s between us.”

At the end of sentence he ran towards Jake and pounced upon him, throwing him on floor. He punched 2-3 times on his face and went for a last punch but Jake intercepted and slid his face towards right causing Chris’s knuckle to hit the marbled floor.

The impact was so strong that it lead to a crack on the floor tile..making Anna even more worried.

Jake pushed Chris aside and with in next few seconds both the men were back on their feet.

They went upto each other and held each other’s collar while Jake shouted, “Done with your great Chris act?”

Chris raved and replied, “No one is acting here.And I’m no Great. You are just jealous that I’m being favoured by your dad.”

“Stop with this crap.” Jake warned.

“You know what you are a coward. A coward who’s scared to hear truth.” Chris said who was rewarded with a nice puch from Jake in return of the truth.

Chris moved a step back due to the impact of punch on his face and while rubbing his jaw he again said, “I pity you boy. You can’t even accept what you are actually feeling.”

“I’m not jealous of you. Cz I know Once Father gets to know about your true self he himself will throw you out of his sight.” Jake replied that made Chris wonder what exactly was he talking about.

“What do you mean my true self?” Chris questioned.

“You think I don’t about you and Anna?” Jake said with a smirk.

“Jake stop with this bullshit. You don’t know a thing!” Anna shouted while Chris looked upto her and noticed that she was getting hyper.

Chris took a step forward and caught Jake’s collar and said, “you don’t have to think about me and Anna. Even if your father gets to know what I feel about his daughter, he still not be able to hate me as much as he hates you for being a looser.”

Yes Anna felt butterflies when he said the first half of the sentence but the second half was a mood buster. “He is continuously offending Jake” she thought to herself.

Jake gulped listening to these lines as his father’s hatred towards him was the biggest misery of his life. “Shut up ok!” He warned Chris and Chris smirked as he knew he pressed the correct vein.

Jake went silent, his eyes turned moist to avoid Chris and Anna from noticing the pain in his eyes, he turned around and was about to leave.

But Chris held him from his hand and said “no one’s leaving.”

Jake turned and tried to push Chris away but instead of fighting back Chris hugged Jake and slowly said, “you don’t have to hide your pain always…brother.”

Jake sighed buried his eyes on Chris’s shoulder. And dor the very first time Anna saw her brother’s weak side. He was a way more emotional person then she thought.

The only regret? That she couldn’t figure out that her brother was getting burdened with much to prove and all his brother was doing was to get attention from their father. He wanted to show that even he can be a leader like him…the only thing missing was a proper direction.

But what she saw made her smile as finally her brother was opening up to Chris.

“Thank god Chris came to his rescue. I should let them have mam to man convo.” She thought to herself ans stood their looking at her two boys.

“I’m sorry about what I said about you and Anna. I saw you guys when you were at the backyard…sitting on log. You two seems like a good pair.” Jake admitted looking at Chris and then at Anna.

Anna gave him a nod and Chris spoke up, “Even I’m sorry. I didn’t meant what I said about you and your dad.”

“But it’s the fact. He indeed hates his son the most. Earlier it was Anna at his gun point when she wasn’t able to hear via mind…but after she did that I came to the top of his hit list.” Jake said.

Chris nodded and asked, “Is their any vampire ability that you don’t have yet?”

“Nope. Jake have all the power that a vampire should have.” Anna spoke up.

“Then the problem is about getting the focus.” Chris said confusing the siblings.

“Let me explain. Luis wants Jake to come out as a good leader in front of others, he wants you to raise your opinions and you did try to do that but here you were at fault as you never think before speaking.” Chris explained.

“Then what should I do?” Jake asked.

“Let’s prove your father that even you can be a good leader..who can lead the vampires.” Chris said.

“And how are we supposed to do that?” Jake asked slowly.

“I’ll make you the head of the joint forces. Yeah you heard it right, I was thinking of presenting my idea of creating a joint force of vampires and ware wolves that would fight against that creep. But now instead of me you are going to propose this idea in front of everyone..And as a result of proposing this idea you are going to lead these troops.” Chris explained.

Jake gulped and hesitantly said, “Chris that’s something really hard. I mean it’s a great responsibility.”

“How will others trust you when you won’t trust yourself? I know you can do it. And if you feel there’s any issue then I’m always there for you.” Chris ensured.

Jake sighed, because of all the hatred that he had faced in past, he had started judging himself that ultimately leads to low confidence. But the faith shown by Chris boosted his moral and he was all set to show that even he can handle a responsibility.

He wanted to prove that he can be a good leader.
