Austin hesitated for a moment, “Yes, let her have it.” He replied.

“Okay,” The chairman said before the line went dead.

The chairman returned to the office, he sat down and brought out a contract from the drawer.

“Ms, Monica, we are offering the contract.”

Monica's eyes widened in disbelief; a while ago, she was scared and worried, but now she has been assigned the contract, which seems impossible.

When she left the office and made her way to Gerald's car. She kept a calm demeanor. Upon seeing her, Gerald felt his heart pounding in his chest.

“How was it?” he asked calmly.

She hugged him, as her face filled with excitement. “I got the contract.” She blurted out.

“Really.” He looked shocked but fainted a smile.

“How did she do that?” He thought.

“Thank you, so much. I really appreciate it. I think you should call your dad. I need to thank him.” Monica was still excited that she didn't notice how uneasy he felt.

“Oh, no. Forget about it, it's nothing.”

She shrugged.

Deeply, Gerald was confused; he couldn't tell how Monica got the deal without spending up to thirty minutes inside the office. But his father has been trying for over three months to secure a deal but has gotten numerous rejections.

“This calls for a celebration. I am taking you out. The bills are on me.”

It looks like Gerald is taking credit for another man's work.

The following morning, Austin was up meditating as usual. When Charlie came in, he didn't bother disturbing Austin as he made his way to the kitchen.

When Austin was through with his meditation, he joined Charlie at the dining table. They were both having their meal when A call came into Austin's phone.

His expression darkened when he saw the Name of the caller.

“What do you want?” He asked.

“Don't think I am calling you because I changed my mind. Something came up, and you are needed at the mansion,” Monica said, with her voice low but unfriendly.

“What is it?”

“The lawyer wants you to be present when reading my dad's will.”

Austin raised a brow, he didn't know why. He is not related to them, and Monica refused to get married to him.

“Why? I am busy and I can't make it.”

“It's not like you are important, but you need to come. I wonder what my dad saw in you that your name was written in his will.”

There was a moment of silence between them, as many thoughts ran through Austin's mind.

“I am on my way,” he replied before ending the call.

A few moments later, Austin was standing before Monica and her mother. Her lover Gerald Benson was seated by the side. Monica's arms were wrapped around his.

“You can sit down.” Mrs. Sarah said in disdain.

They were both unhappy with his presence, Austin wasn't bothered by their menacing gaze at him.

All he wanted was to know what the lawyer had to say.

The lawyer cleared his throat as he leaned forward. “It's been two months since the death of Mr. Grayson. And today I will be reading his will.” He said.

Monica and her mother adjusted themselves as the lawyer began to read out the will. It got to a point which left them in bewilderment.

“Before my daughter would inherit whatever I willed to her, she must be married to Austin.”

“What?”

Both mother and daughter gasped in shock and disbelief.

“This is not right?” Monica said in displeasure. “You trick my father into making such decisions. Why would I get married to you? I must inherit everything that has been willed to me.

“Why do you think I will do that? Your father is old enough to know what is right and wrong.” Austin countered.

“No, I don't accept it.” Monica shook her head in disagreement. “I am ready to give any amount to him, to refuse the offer. Name your price.”

Austin smiled, “How much would you pay,”

“I knew it, he is after our money.” Mrs. Sarah intoned, her voice was filled with anger.

Monica frowned, “I am willing to pay a million dollars.”

Austin chuckled, “I am not accepting any money from you, even at a discount price.”

Gerald couldn't hold his anger, as his patient wore thin. “You should accept the offer; you are a low life, and the money will help you in the long term.”

“When adults are talking, I am not expecting a sissy to make a comment,” Austin muttered.

Did he just call Gerald a sissy? Is he really a sissy?

Gerald's fist clenched by his side, as his jaw tightened. “How dare you talk to me in such a manner, do you know who I am?”

“Oh, Gerald. Stop ranting, we all know you to always be a pet for your family. Always doing what daddy said you should do.”

“You fool,” Monica yelled. “You should mind the way you talk to someone. We all know that Gerald is better than you. What do you have? What can you do for my family?”

She paused momentarily. “The company was able to secure a deal with the Jerold Empire because of Gerald's father. What can you do?”

Austin chuckled; this left them in confusion as they exchanged glances.

“Do you think it's funny,” Monica sneered, her face flushing in anger.

Did she think it was Gerald who pulled the string? She must be dreaming.

“How can someone whose family are desperately seeking a contract with the Jerold empire help you? Are you sure you are not dumb?”

Monica stared at Gerald; she thinks about Austin's words.

Mrs. Sarah's face was filled with hatred for Austin. “You are jealous because he is better than you would ever be. Gerald's family are wealthy and they can have a deal with anything they want.”

Austin kept his gaze on Gerald. “You should call your dad. Let's confirm if he really made the call.”

Will he dare to do that?

“Why should he? You are jealous. No wonder you are still broke and useless.” Monica said in disgust. “Instead of being envious, why not learn from him? Ask him to help you, take you under his wing and not be arrogant.”

Gerald struggled to utter a word; he knew his father didn't make any call; he was looking for a way to avoid any embarrassment or for Monica not to know the truth.
