Injecting Blood

Corey looked infront of him at the red screen while Theresa waved her hand in the air around it.

"So you are saying you can still see some kind of screen?"

"I can big sis, really, It is like a television screen of sorts, but it seems much more advanced."

Theresa was hesitant to believe but Corey had never lied to her on such things for this long. It had been about 5 minutes, so if it was a prank, it should have already been revealed by him.

"What does it say again?" Theresa asked once more.

"Just that a Blood heir is chosen, nothing else," Corey said in doubt.

"Guess there is no other way to figure it out, just click it."

Without thinking much, Corey clicked the words and immediately, new words appeared on it:

[Due to having the highest purity of true blood ever seen for the past century, the Blood Clan inheritance has chosen you as an heir and you now represent Planet Earth's mightiest being.]

Corey read it out and Theresa frowned as she listened on.

"Big sis, do you know anything about this Blood Clan thing?" Corey asked worriedly. Would this bring some trouble?

Theresa frowned. "I... Don't know about any Blood Clan, but I do know of a Blood Family. It was the richest Family in the world at a point but was then destroyed overnight due to planning something like terrorism against the World Government. It was a big event two years ago. They say it could have even turned into the third World War if the Government wasn't so strong."

Corey gulped. Did he get into some deep sh*t unknowingly?

He nervously clicked the screen again.

[The Blood Clan Restoration File loading...]

[The System Module has been integrated with the Host's brain and will now answer the Host's questions. But that process will take blood energy.]

— Current Status —

[Useable Blood Energy: 0]

Low-Level Blood Clan Physique: has heightened senses and increased instincts towards danger. (Needs 100 points of Blood Energy to Evolve.)

Unique Blood Abilities: None.

...

Corey looked at the screen for quite a while in disbelief. He wasn't dumb, by now, he could sense this might be a tremendous fortune.

Excited, he described the details inside the system to Theresa and she was also quite excited.

"But what is this Blood Energy, how can you get it?"

"Let me try checking it out." Smiling, He clicked on Blood Energy.

[Blood Energy: Essence of life, every intelligent life has a set amount of it in their body, Blood Clan members have a much higher amount of it than others.]

"It doesn't say how to get it though... It says it is there in all human bodies, maybe I just have to drink blood?"

"Let's try! Little Rin, go take the small knife from the kitchen." Theresa wasn't one to wait.

Rin immediately scooted to the kitchen and ran back with a small knife.

Theresa took it and made a small cut on her finger. "Here, Corey."

Corey took her finger and put it into his mouth.

Immediately, her blood moved into his throat and a warm sensation trembled in his stomach.

He even liked the taste.

[Blood Energy: 0.1]

"Yeah, Big Sis, it worked!" Corey exclaimed happily.

Now that he had energy, he wanted to immediately ask the System some questions. But he didn't want to lose this rare opportunity, so he didn't let her finger out of his mouth and just kept sucking on it.

Some more blood oozed out into his body and the warm sensation deepened ever so slightly.

"Core..Corey, I... Am feeling a bit dizzy," Theresa said with struggle.

Corey frowned and stopped. "With just that drop of blood, you already feel dizzy?"

He looked at the screen and asked, "Hey system, why is my big sister so dizzy with just a drop of blood?"

He didn't really expect an answer but he was curious.

His Blood Energy went from 0.2 to 0.1

[The Energy the Heir absorbed was her foundational blood energy, which will sap her stamina heavily and will make her permanently weaker, even though the small amount of blood would only result in a negligible permanent decrease in her strength.]

It was then that it actually started registering in Corey's mind that this was not some game, he was playing with dangerous things.

Even though it said it was negligible amount, it was still harmful for Theresa. It woulf have been bad if he greedily drank more of her blood.

He gulped and then asked, "Is there any way to get Blood Energy without harming others?"

His Blood Energy became 0.

[Yes, you can earn Blood Energy by eating Blood Fruits.]

'Blood Fruits? Isn't that like really expensive?' Corey smiled wryly.

He knew what a Blood Fruit was, it was a famous commodity that was much more expensive than Gold, it was a heal-all medicine after all.

It was said to even heal Cancer if eaten in sufficient amounts.

Such a magical fruit would of course be expensive.

He had once wanted to buy that to heal Theresa's legs but then came to know healing her legs was impossible even with Blood Fruits.

He was confident that he could earn money easily, but without being able to go to any villages, it was impossible.

That is why, he had always given his ideas to Theresa and it almost always worked, but they could never grow rich, or even have decent money because of the limitation of each of them being filthbloods.

"Big Sister, it says it is harmful to you if I drink your blood..." he spoke but abruptly stopped.

Theresa was asleep and Rin was showing the shush sign by putting a finger over her lips.

He smiled.

Well, now I have to think of it by myself...
