Chapter Forty (Final Chapter)

Savannah sat beside Everly on the hospital cot and searched deep into her eyes, while Jenkins leaned on the wall with arms folded across the chest and legs crossed.

“Hey, what's wrong?” —she patted Everly's face as tears streamed down her eyes, but, Everly returned the gaze with a painful stare.
