005 - Auction Banquet

Evans and Samantha gazed at each other in surprise, not believing their ears. Did a loser like Adams challenge them? How dare he? Evans felt furious. Evans couldn’t accept it positively when someone trampled on his pride.

"I so much hate Adams Smith. What audacity he has to compare himself with me and even threaten me! I'll see that he never gets a job in this city," he mumbled, fuming with rage as he picked up his phone.

Meanwhile, Adams boarded a cab straight to the city's main mall. He took the time to shop for exquisite clothing.

Unsurprisingly, most of the items he picked were quality material suits, the newest edition brogues, and cufflinks.

There were also hair and skin treatments and shampoo. He didn't shop for many items.

At six in the evening. Adams was all set; he had gotten himself a single condominium of three rooms, one of which he plans to convert into his study room.

A kitchen, two bathrooms, and a living room. Also, a brand new middle-class black Bentley. He still had about eighteen million dollars left in his account.

Dressed in his black Armani tuxedo, a white undershirt, and clean black tailored suit pants coupled with shimmering oxford leather brogues and a black bow tie, Adams took out a limited edition Patek Philippe watch, placed it on his wrist, and buttoned his suit jacket.

After taking a last look at his handsome reflection, where he had gelled his black hair backward, leaving wave strands in the front, he nodded in satisfaction before picking up his suitcase from his bed and heading straight to the parking lot.

Adams boarded his car. This middle-class Bentley is a car he had long had his eyes on but couldn't afford. He didn't even have any savings, not to mention a fancy car.

This opportunity is something he must not miss. Therefore, he made sure the first thing he did after getting out of the hospital was to place a direct order for his dream car.

They promised to deliver the car to his location after five hours, and they kept their word by sending over the car with every piece of detailed information and license.

Adams swerved through turns until he got to the highway. Being the son of a successful businesswoman, his mother made sure he went to driving classes at the young age of sixteen.

However, after her demise, while he was still in college, his stepfather took everything his mother had left for him away. The ride was a long one, and at about seven-thirty in the evening, he finally got to his destination. An auction party.

His newest iPhone, which was placed on the front passenger seat along with his suitcases, lit up. A row of words popped on the screen: "Open the suitcase and get going."

He opened the suitcase and, surprisingly, found an invitation card to the banquet sitting right on top of the stark cash he had withdrawn.

Oh, then he remembers that he couldn't just go into the banquet hall without an invitation; he'd be embarrassed and thrown out for crashing the event.

He smiled and took out the invitation card before closing the suitcase. He felt ecstatic to receive such a supersystem. Adams carefully alighted his car.

He closed the car door, and a robotic voice echoed, "System lock activated." He raised his brows, shrugged his shoulders, and headed right for the door in front of him.

****

"Adams Smith," the doorman muttered as he stared at the name on the invitation card.

Oh, who in A City hasn't heard of the crazy psycho son of the late business tycoon? No one.

Everyone knows what a loser he is. He looks up, scanning the gentleman in front of him and comparing him to the image of the crazy psychopath son he had in his head but couldn't compare.

Sighing, thinking how tragic it is for a successful man to share the same name as a mentally unstable man, he checks through his list and confirms the invitation before moving to the side to allow Adams to get inside the hall.

Meanwhile, Adams couldn't help but be a little nervous while the doorman checked through his list. He breathed a sigh of relief when the doorman approved his invitation.

As he strode in with his long legs, he placed his hands inside his pants pocket. Carrying himself with elegance, nobility, and dignity. His face was straight and expressionless, and his body ricked off an aura that said, "This handsome guy is out of reach; beware."

Adams got into the principal venue. He could hear the chattering and clamoring of the rich society folks.

Their pretentious smile, looking trashy in his eyes, and their fake laughter and compliments sound like a nuisance in his ears.

Looking straight ahead, Adams could see his ex-fiancee and her boyfriend.

From the side, he saw his stepfather holding his step-sisters, Anna and Sophia, with both arms as he introduced them to the young, rich second-generation heirs.

His lips curled in disdain. He scanned through the hall and finally found a secluded place. Adams didn't waste much time and immediately left for the seat there.

Just as the clock hit eight-thirty post meridian, the host got to the stage and tapped on the microphone.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I, Brandon Marshall, am honored to have you all seated here for our fifth edition auction event," he said, and everyone cheered and clapped, except for Adams.

"As we begin this event peacefully, we hope to end it peacefully with no violence. I humbly approve of the opening of the event," He concluded, and once again they cheered.

The auction event began, and the auctioneer auctioned several items. Adams sat quietly in the corner, paying attention to every detail of the event, but never once did he raise his placard.

He was there to learn about business and its ways. He had gotten lots of business experience and ideas from his late mother. But despite all she had taught him, Adams knew it wasn't even up to an iceberg of what he needed to know about the business world.

Most importantly, he was there to acquire something precious, and he wasn't going to leave without it. The bidding on the unique items displayed on the large screen continued, and for once, Adams never grew bored.

Finally, what he had long awaited for the entire evening appeared on the screen - the bankrupt Sky Enterprise. The bankrupt Sky Enterprise.

The seamless, thrilling melody drew people's attention. But looking back at him should be considered a big mistake for any lady who wants to catch a flight quickly because, like his beautiful voice, the gold-haired brownie holding a backpack while swaying his body as he strolled into the airport is a hot, sexy, mouth-watering Greek god.If Adams is charming, refined, and elegant, then the man approaching the front desk is an alluring rogue heartthrob with sinful charisma and a look that says 'I am a casanova'.He approached the front desk, prepared his ticket and passport for his flight, and then sat on the waiting bench. With his backpack on his lap, he took out his phone and began browsing through it when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looks to see a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. VACATION The air in Hawaii felt different.Saltier and softer. Like it wrapped around you instead of brushing past.Ashley stood barefoot on the balcony of their rental, the ocean stretching endlessly ahead. The wind played with her hair, sunlight warming her shoulders.Behind her, Baxter was in the kitchen.“You said you wanted breakfast,” he called out.“I didn’t say I wanted a kitchen explosion,” she called back.He gasped dramatically. “Rude. I am crafting.”She walked inside. And paused. He was wearing one of those ridiculous floral shirts tourists buy on impulse. Sleeves rolled up. Hair slightly messy. Concentrating like he was diffusing a bomb instead of cracking eggs.“You’re staring,” he said without looking up.“You look like you belong on a pineapple juice carton.”He looked up, mock offended. “And yet you’re still here.”She walked closer, leaning against the counter. “What are we making, Chef?”“Omelette,” he said proudly. “And today, you are learning.”Ashley blinked.

Ashley had always been the unlucky one when it came to love. She had fallen for Adams first. She fell quite hard and bad. Obviously Adams was emotionally unavailable. She liked the way he spoke like he was solving the world’s problems in his head. But Adams? Adams had eyes for someone else. Yes! Erica. Then there was Lorenzo. Charming yet dangerous. The type of man who smiled like he knew secrets. Although she just had a light crush on him, he of course, had found his lady, Annabelle. The morning air was salty and warm, carrying the faint scent of ocean spray. Gentle waves lapped rhythmically against the shore, the sun rising slowly over the horizon, painting the sky in shades of gold, peach, and rose.Annabelle stood barefoot in the soft, white sand, her wedding dress flowing elegantly around her. The lace was delicate, light enough that the breeze teased it playfully, and the subtle shimmer caught the early sunlight. Her hair was braided with tiny seashells and flowers, a crown of ocean dreams she had always imagined. She took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin and the gentle pressure of Lorenzo’s hand on her lower back.“You look… perfect,” Lorenzo murmured, his voice low, private, and full of awe.Annabelle turned slightly, catching his gaze, her cheeks coloring. “I told you,” she whispered, teasing, “this is *my* dream wedding.”“Good thing I love dreams, then,” he said softly, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to her temple.
