"Mr. Grant, please answer my questions!"
"I already told you no, now disappear"
"Mr. Grant, I'm asking you please"
"And I already told you I don't know anything! Now leave me alone!"
For almost half an hour the chief of the forest rangers had been pestering Alan for an explanation of what had happened last night. However, Alan could not give any. Also because even he was shocked by what he had seen. He had already told him that he didn't know anything, but the man wasn't willing to give up. "Bullshit! Clearly you're hiding something. Birds that attack a caravan? Velociraptors that stops cars? What were you doing around here, huh?"
"We were just studying the birds"
"I've had enough of you scientists. You come up with a worse thing every time. Tell me right now what's going on, otherwise..."
"Or what? Will you arrest me? We both know you can't. You have no evidence against me"
"We'll inspect your caravan then!"
"Go ahead.
A few more days passed, and finally Monica and her pack returned. When Sobek saw the brachiosaurs reappear he could not help but be happy: he would finally have a more concrete idea of the territory than the one that the flying reptiles and satellite photos could give him. When Monica joined him he greeted her cordially: “Welcome back. I hope the journey wasn't complicated""No journey is complicated for us" replied the brachiosaurus waving her huge neck. "We explored all the territory you requested""I was sure of it. Have you encountered any problems?"“No more than any trip we have made. Indeed, thanks to the power you have given us, we have found even less"Monica obviously was referring to [Reinforced skin], which combined with the enormous size of the sauropods made them practically immune to the attack of any existing predator.“I am delighted. Now I have to ask you, did you find what you were looking for?"
First, Sobek wanted to make sure that Monica's escape routes were known to everyone, so he asked Blue to draw an impressive map of the place on a rock. The velociraptor used a mixture of dried fruit and congealed mud to create the dye and had Monica personally accompany him on a tour of the entire valley to memorize every detail.Sobek couldn't help but admit he was surprised. The map drawn by Blue was quite detailed and with primitive symbols to indicate certain things. But the really strange thing was that the other dinosaurs, after a brief explanation, seemed to remember those symbols and understand them. This, at least for normal knowledge of biology, should have been impossible.Only a few animals, the smartest after humans, were able to associate pictures with words. Among the 'dinosaurs', the only ones known capable of doing so were crows, magpies and partly parrots. Still, all the dinosaurs in Sobek's herd appeared to have become capable of recognizing symbols.
Not everything was ok. At least not from Pierce's point of view. Initially the stegosaurus, excited by the fact that Sobek had given him such an important assignment, had launched into the work at three hundred and sixty degrees almost without thinking. He had asked some sauropods to cut down some trees and then with the help of other stegosaurids, especially kentrosaurs, he had torn it to pieces. Unfortunately, things hadn't gone well at all. The stakes obtained were far from what Pierce had imagined. Many of them were crooked and dull. However, the stegosaurus told himself they were okay and had them covered in clay, then planted them on the ground. The problem, however, was that he had limited himself to making them sink a bit into the ground. Result? The pickets didn't hold up for a minute before they collapsed. Pierce was disappointed, but he wasn't discouraged. He made a second attempt, but this time he got Blue to help him. Since he had to use his tail to tear the tree apart,
"Gather all the dinosaurs and flying reptiles by tonight, all of them. I intend to talk to them". It was this simple order that Sobek passed on to Buck, Carnopo, Al, Old Li and Rambo. After that he lay down on the warmest and most comfortable rock he found and waited. After a long time it was time to tell the truth. He could no longer keep it hidden: now thanks to Apache he had a large number of propagandists, but they were useless without something to propagandize.Besides, the dinosaurs weren't stupid. They knew there was something underneath. Basically Buck was training a legion under his command, Rambo and his followers were constantly flying from east to west and back, and Apache had brought an unimaginable number of flying reptiles. Dinosaurs weren't really buds, but anyone would have realized at that point that something was boiling in the pot. Sooner or later they would start asking questions, so they might as well spill the beans right away.Sobek initi
The flame danced across the sky for a few seconds, then went out. Buck lowered the flamethrower and placed it reverently at his pack leader's feet. The dinosaurs did not make a sound for several moments, then began to bellow in chorus: "Fire... Fire!""He tame it... He is the tamer of the fire!""Lord of fire!""LORD OF FIRE! LORD OF FIRE!"The words of the dinosaurs seemed to turn into a religious song. Not that it was different from reality. Even though they didn't know what gods and spirits were, the dinosaurs were experiencing the same feeling humans do when facing such entities.Fire was one of the most devastating things in nature. While a tsunami or earthquake was far more destructive, nothing terrified an animal like flames. Not surprisingly, being burned alive was considered the worst death ever. The fire choked, burned, destroyed and killed all forms of life leaving nothing but charred bones. Therefore, for the dinosaurs, th
"There have been numerous animal attacks on local hunters in Sarsans in the last twenty-four hours..." "Four poachers were violently attacked by a herd of einosaurs while hunting in the Vermons nature reserve. Strangely, it seems that the animals overturned the car and then pretended to leave, then waited for the men to emerge from the wreckage..." "The scientific community is still without explanation in the face of the mysterious behavior recently shown by birds, which is leading all over the world to the creation of giant flocks containing various species of birds..." "Another animal escape occurred from a zoo in the city of New Shaggath, this time from the Central Garden Zoo..." Jamie turned off the television with a sharp bang on the button on the remote. "These are just some of the events that are currently happening around the world" The people who were listening nodded. Jamie was in Mitch's laboratory, a place equipped with all the most advanced scientific instruments avai
"Good, we are fucked. It was a pleasure to meet you all!" Robert Oz had been ranting like a madman for more than half an hour, creating considerable discomfort for his son who tried in vain to calm him down. The other scientists were more composed, but still their eyes betrayed their concern. Jocelyne couldn't blame them. All those people were convinced that if the dinosaurs had become intelligent humanity would have faced disaster; they had been convinced about it for many months, in Robert Oz's case for years. So now that she'd shown them satellite images of herds of dinosaurs all marching together in the same direction, there was no chance they would remain indifferent. Ian Malcolm's voice calmed everyone's mind. "Let's all calm down, we mustn't jump to hasty conclusions. It is true, based on what we know and what is happening, the situation seems extremely dangerous. But that's not a good reason to panic. We have no certainties, only hypotheses, even if they are quite convincin
Abe reached Cartago after a full day's drive. The city was more than 1200 kilometers away from Serapode, the capital of Odaria where the Jersey family resided, so even driving at 100 km/h he took hours to reach it.Once there he made his way to what he knew was the expedition center in the forest. Anyone wishing to enter the uncolonized area had to register there, provided he wanted to do something legal. But of course, Abe knew that there were other ways to go into the deep forest.Once inside he already knew who his target was. He quickly walked over to a skinny man who was playing with his cell phone leaning against a wall. "Hello, my name is Abe" he introduced himself."Carver" grumbled the man without looking up. "What do you want?""Join next week's expedition"Carver finally looked at him, and his gaze was not good. "It's an exclusive government-funded expedition, man. Few well-armed people will go and outsiders are not allowed. Go away, I d
