Chapter 11. The Truth Revealed

Kael knelt, staring at the endless labyrinth. The Shadow Sovereign's whispers still crept in, as if clutching his already tattered soul. "You will die here, alone." Those words sounded real, like a cold promise from death. His hands were cold, his fire dim, and mental exhaustion began to gnaw at him. Was this the end of everything?

He felt the sludge of despair creeping up. No. I can't. Mother... Master... Jax... Lyra... Their faces flashed through his mind, not as burdens, but as anchors. He had to fight. Not for himself, but for those who still held hope.

With his remaining strength, Kael crawled, searching for a way. Every obsidian wall felt the same, reflecting his shadow which looked so small amidst the swallowing darkness. The scent of the Void was piercing, feeling as though it were stabbing his memories, reviving the doubts he once had about his power. Was this fire truly a curse?

His hand touched the surface of the wall. Cold, slick, and full of Void energy. However, this time something was different. A small area on that wall felt slightly warm, emitting a strange vibration that opposed the cold aura around it. Kael felt around, sensing fine etchings. He lit a small flame at his fingertips, not to attack, but to see.

The dim orange light danced, revealing a series of ancient inscriptions carved into the obsidian. It was the ancestral script, the same language he had seen in his vision in the cave before. Kael's heart pounded. This was no coincidence.

He drew closer, ignoring the pressing cold. The inscription told of a long-forgotten era, of the first Fire Conqueror who led humanity against the same darkness. Kael read, slowly piecing together the hidden fragments of history.

In the age of the first fire, a great master taught his ways to those who were worthy. Fire was not just an element, but a reflection of the soul. Among his disciples, there was one who was most promising, with a will that burned like a falling star.

Kael traced the carvings. An image of a young man standing beside his ancestor, his eyes emitting a fire almost exactly like his own. The figure looked loyal, as if he would die for the master.

However, a shadow curved within the pure heart. Greed for power, fear of loss, twisted the will into emptiness. That disciple rejected the teachings of balance, choosing the path of destruction to "purify" the world. The fire that was supposed to illuminate now burned with hatred.

Kael stared at the image, his eyes widening. A chill crept up from his feet. The young man in the carving slowly changed, his face distorted by shadows, until finally, he wore a silver mask. The exact same mask as the Shadow Sovereign.

He was the outcast. His name was forgotten from history, yet his shadow never died. He claimed the Void fire as his own, trying to destroy the master's legacy. He was the poison that tainted the blood of the Fire Conquerors, spreading fear of the power itself.

Kael recoiled, his back hitting the cold wall. Impossible. The Sovereign... was his ancestor's disciple? A fallen disciple? And he was the source of the fear that had poisoned every Fire Conqueror, including his father?

"So, you have found the truth, Kael," the Shadow Sovereign's voice echoed within the labyrinth, this time without mockery, only a strange melancholic tone. "A former disciple. How ironic. They call me a traitor, yet I am the one who saw the truth. This world is sick, Kael. And the only way to heal it is to burn it to the ground."

Kael gritted his teeth. "You're lying! My ancestor wanted to protect the world, not destroy it!"

"Protect what?" the Sovereign's voice sounded bitter. "A world full of weakness, hypocrisy, and fear? A world that made your father run from his own destiny? Pure fire cannot live in a rotten place, Kael. I tried to save your father. I gave him the choice to join me, to cast away the fire that shackled him."

Father ran because of the fire? Not because you killed him? Kael's mind was in turmoil. If the Sovereign was his ancestor's disciple, it meant he knew very well the history and weaknesses of the Fire Conquerors. He used that knowledge, infecting their lineage with doubt and fear.

"You're twisting the truth!" Kael shouted, anger burning in his chest. "Father didn't run. He was misled by you! You planted poison in our minds!"

"Poison? Or the truth you refuse to accept?" the Sovereign countered, his voice now sounding piercing. "Fire is merely a tool, Kael. A tool to erase pretense. Your father chose weakness, and he died for it. You—"

"I won't end up like him!" Kael slammed his hand against the inscription.

Kael's inner struggle reached its peak. He saw his father's shadow again, no longer as a lost hero, but as a victim of this deception. It wasn't the fire that killed his father, but the doubt and lies planted by the Sovereign. Fire was not a curse; it was a blessing he had to grasp without fear.

Fire is will. Not poison. This is a blood legacy.

Something within Kael shifted. He no longer saw the fire in his hands as a potentially destructive force, but as an extension of his soul. The heat in the pit of his stomach no longer pulsed wildly, but swirled in a calm yet intense circle. Its color was no longer bright orange or gold. It was a darker, deeper blue fire, with a white core that glowed steadily.

A purer fire. The same fire that Master Selama had shown him, yet thousands of times stronger.

"You can no longer infect my will, Sovereign," Kael rose to his feet. His legs, which had been weak, now felt solid. His dark eyes emitted a deep blue glint that had never been seen before.

"This fire... this fire is not yours!" the Sovereign roared, sounding more shocked this time. "That fire is a cursed legacy!"

"It is a legacy I embrace!" Kael shouted, spreading both his arms.

The blue fire exploded from Kael's body, no longer as a focused pillar, but as a wave of pure energy that rejected the darkness. The Void enveloping the labyrinth hissed, fleeing from contact with the new light. The inscriptions on the walls glowed brightly, reflecting Kael's fire which had now reached a new level.

The Sovereign fell silent. The labyrinth shook violently. Kael could feel every atom in his body resonating with this fire, as if he had opened a channel to an infinite source of power. He felt like a sun—not the small sun in his chest, but a sun that swallowed galaxies.

The fire no longer felt like it was merely his. The fire was him. And amidst the explosion of energy filling the labyrinth, Kael knew. This was only the beginning.

Kael, Jax, and Lyra rode northward, leaving behind the city gates that now stood strong and welcoming. Towering trees lined the path, which gradually gave way to a rougher trail of stone and gravel—clear signs they were moving farther from the newly rebuilt civilization.Lyra led at the front, her sharp eyes scanning every footprint in the soil, every subtle movement among the leaves. Jax rode beside Kael, his longsword shifting slightly in its sheath—a quiet signal of the vigilance that never left a commander. Kael took a deep breath. This journey felt… strange. It had been a long time since he had walked forest paths like this, far from the hum of conferences and reconstruction efforts. Once, every step in the wild had meant preparation for battle, every gust of wind a whisper of danger. Now, he was simply a guardian of peace conducting a

The weight that once pressed heavily on his chest had lifted, replaced by a deep, steady peace. He w

Chapter 32. Battle of the Remnants of DarknessKael’s breath hitched. In the center of Rian’s tiny palm, an orange ember flickered, then vanished. It was exactly like the ancient spark that used to burn in his own hands back in Eldara Village. Kael stared at the boy, his heart pounding, a cold premonition creeping down his spine. The fire had not gone extinct. He turned toward the ruins of the former Void Bringer headquarters in the distance, where the Void crystal in his pocket pulsed stronger than usual. Was this the reason? Was the remnant of its power seeking a new vessel? Kael looked back at Rian, an innocent child who had no idea what kind of danger he had just revealed. This was no longer about the past. This was about the future."Uncle Kael?" Rian tugged at Kael’s cloak. "Why are you just standing there?"Kael smiled, trying to hide his concern. "It’s nothing, kid. I was just surprised to see your talent. But don't do that inside the tent, okay? It could be dangerous.""Under
